Thanks for putting this video together. I run a physical-only gaming channel and have struggled to find a few of the games you mentioned and will purchase a couple others today.
@@JimBob-vg2og They just reprinted it only for the PS4, so the Switch will still hold a bit of value. However, luckily only those with the 1st print have the lenticular postcard
I've been collecting Trails games on my PS, and my god.... the second they go out of print they seem to immediately double / triple in price. I'll never make the mistake of waiting again. lol
as someone whom does not like horror/scary games. signalis was succcha great game to play! it had cool elements to it. my bf even bought it! but its crazy how expensive that game is now.
LRG partnered with Best Buy to sell games through Best Buy retail channels via online and brick and mortar stores. They would make some variants of releases exclusive to BB with different cover art or other things than what LRG had for their online and physical store. I don’t believe they are still doing anything recently as BB is pretty much reducing their physical media space and gaming is probably next on the chopping block for BB in the near future.
Idk if ppl are aware but Gris is a lot deeper than what it seems at surface level. I believe she's dealing with the death of a loved one and is in a deep depression. It's about her journey through the stages of 'grief' and her path to healing, which if you've ever lost someone know, 'healing' isn't about getting over it but finding a way to just be ok within continuing on. The stages of griefs are represented in Gris using different colors and the return of color to a grey (Gris) world. If you've ever lost someone I'd highly recommend it.
Same with signalis the more you play and read about the story the more interesting the world of the game becomes and the more deep the story becomes as well 😀 👍
Phantasy Star 4 for me. I just l9ved the characters and story so much as a kid. I remember not even being able to sleep because I wanted to see what happened next in the story.
I saw Signalis at a GS today and passed it up. Later on in the day, your video played as I was cleaning my game room and didn’t realize how rare it was. I went back and purchased it immediately! If you can find it, GS only asks $28 for it (for now).
Signalis had a reprint, i sold my uk copy for £70s and brought 2 usa versions for £60s and the play Asia version for £35s. I prefer the cover from play asia
They won't reprint again and it's not sold in stores so both prints will be expensive down the line. I don't think there's a difference in prints. They come exactly the same according to the website. Had my preorder in weeks ago.
@@TwoGendersOnlythere absolutely is a way to tell which copy you have through serial numbering. The second print always lowers the original due to being more accessible.
@@Ephesians-yn8ux I suppose that's true but that's a very miniscule difference. None of the artwork or anything else is changed. I got my copy a couple days ago in the mail and it's a really great limited edition either way. Game eye still has it brand new at around 130 dollars and 100 for cib so I guess we will see how low it drops. I don't see it dropping much personally
Just picked up a CIB 3D All stars for $65. I personally only collect English and like physical versions for the value they hold (Ik most people don't care and just emulate shit) but if push comes to shove just get the korean version if English gets out of hand and you really want to play it
Oh yeah, I have no problem buying European version of games if they're drastically different in prices. At the end of the day, I just want the game physically.
I dont collect games because they will become expensive but I do feel like Ive developed s sixth sense for games that might though. All of the games you showed I have and most Ive gotten on sale. Having said, anything thats an NIS JRPG I dont wait on anymore because I know they're linited prints and retain and increase their value.
There’s no point of collection games for resell since emulation is so easy that newer generation of gamers will gravitate if they even bother playing retro games. Any consoles will go up in a price more than a game if they kept in great condition. Even looking back decade we can clearly see DS, 3DS, Vita, Wii U, 360 and PS3 consoles are very expensive but most video games are cheap.
Not really sure Switch is good for future investing when most of 3DS games price tanked when the system was easy to hacked and access to complete library. I would say first party games will go up in the pricing since Nintendo will slowly destroy emulation for Nintendo properties. Right now Switch is even easier to hack and emulate with other systems so I don’t see a huge market. I just stocked up extra DSi and 2DS XL since those games are pain to play with emulation due to two screen but any other Nintendo games plays better via emulation. Just buy and play what you enjoy and don’t put too much emphasis on making bucks by reselling decades later
I have the snes style boxed sea of stars that limited run did, it come with the game and a few goodies inside, I think there was only 7350 ever made and released, it's pretty cool but not sure what that's going for nowadays
I can imagine that too, especially since it was officially confirmed this year that the European release will be canceled. So there is only an American and Japanese version to buy.
I have Omori too, I was thinking of adding it to this video. Maybe I'll do another video of games like 40 and under that might have potential to be very expensive.
I’m going to let everyone know just like other people said but you can order the Iam8bit version of Sea of Stars today for the 44.99 price point so if someone ones to buy that version of the game for 100.00 from a 3rd party then either they have disposable income and just want to blow it for no reason or have no sense, maybe combination of both.
I've built a significant collection for the switch, but at this point I'm done hunting for "hidden gems". It seems like every week VGP reprints another one of those, which is a bummer
I've noticed that too, but the games still retain their high value sometimes despite VGP reprinting them for lower. Not everyone knows VGP even exists. Lol
I want a physical copy of signalis even though i owned a digital copy on my ps5 and eventually for my series s now im thinking about actually owning a physical copy that has to tell you guys just how much I loved signalis
I agree! The only Ys game I have on switch is Ys Origin and it was a limited run release I believe. I got other Ys games on Playstation, I freaking love that series
Nintendo didn't say they'd put out a handful of 3d all stars. It was limited to a roughly 6-month period, during which it sold over 5million units, physically. Definitely not a handful, unless compared to Mario kart 8. The game isn't rare at 5 million existing physical units, but highly sought after
i have over 100 switch games but now im just looking for a nice switch cartridge holder so i can throw away the switch game cases (just kidding i’ll store those away)
Got signalis for 20 off Amazon as well. Literally just found out how expensive it is now. Like why? Lmfao makes no sense. Mines sealed because i had it on steam already and just wanted it physically. Game collecting and gaming in general makes no sense anymore..
In the world of digital, nothing is rare. If it's on steam, it is not rare. Getting physical would be niche. Rare games would be games that are not in digital format, and purchasing one with more than $100, and cannot playable on any platform. Ex. Magic Knight Rayearth is a Sega Saturn game that can only play on Sega Saturn. Getting physical on it is the only way but there have been ways via emulation on it.
Oh yeah of course. I've got a burned cd of Magic Knight Rayearth and can play it on my Saturn. I'd love to have a physical version but its really expensive. I just really enjoy owning physical games.
@@pixelpub3981 Ive been collecting and playing game since Atari 2600. Getting rare games to me doesn't matter when I got them unexpected to know it's rare. All Persona series, Suikodens series Wild Arms series, Breath of Fire series, Lunar series, Tales series, Shadow Hearts series, Legaia series, Grandia series, and etc. I bought most when it's either day 1 or when it's super cheap. There are also horror games people look for which I have. The last rare game by chance I got is Ninja Gaiden Trilogy snes (Not that Sigma games) @ Hollywood Video for $10. Again, I did not know it's rare. That was 2009 or 2010.

I really need to get into the trails series. It’s all I hear these days for the switch. Thanks for the list! More games to add to my wishlist! Lol
its pretty good from what I've played so far!
They are very good rpg's. They have an old school feel with the turn based combat. Some of the best games on switch.
Great list, i would add the 2 deadly premonition games too well especially the first one.

Least they give us manuals or lil inserts
Gris has a 2024 Revolver re-edition. I got it from VGP games for 49 $CAD recently. Unfortunately it's sold out at the moment.
I actually prefer the cover art and the extras on the Japan special edition for Sea of Stars
