One of my dreams is to someday create a 3D rendering of my living room in VR, and then have the ability to change my size or the orientation of the room. I mean, who wouldn’t love to go skydiving off the arm of their couch, exploring the jungle of their carpet, or just try walking around on the ceiling for a change?
"or just try walking around on the ceiling " when I was a kid I accidentally found out holding a mirror horizonal/parallel to the ground just below your eyes (or nose) and looking into it totally has the effect of tricking your mind to feeling like being in a new place and walking on a beautiful white floor with strange windows and strange doors. You are transported to a totally new place.
I did something alike with Tilt Brush in my old flat. I just walked and touched myself through my room and everything in it and draw alongside with it. Gotta admit your looks better altough I had some fancy visuals :D
I really love the way you show VR to the people. Because this is what VR is about.. not only gaming (that I LOVE by the way) but the experience of a new world and a new way to see it!! Can you please make a top 10 of best non-gaming vr apps for oculus quest?
Hey Jano, just found out that it seems I don't get a notification for every comment on this video... That's a really great suggestion actually, thank you, I'll look into it.
love that video man. This is exactly the thing I wanted to create when I first tried VR. My bro in law is paying $$$$$$ for medical school and spends 12 hours a day studying. He doesn’t understand just how much faster he could learn in VR. Medical schools are doing text book exams still instead of hands on virtual training and memorization. I started dreaming of pulling myself through virtual worlds. I played Supernatural almost every day for a month and started dreaming of it. If you did this right before going to bed you’d ace your exam.
Yes would love a tutorial on how to do this! Would be so cool to map out the apartment but create different environments to switch out. A jungle in your apartment or haunted mansion. Walk into a closet and it's an elevator. Exit and you're in a different scene.
@AltVR Amazing experience! What should I start learning to create experiences like this? I already have a knowledge in Blender 3D, so I already understand 3D basics. My next step is to start learning Unity, but what should I focus my learning path to accomplish something like this? Keep the great work! I'll be waiting for that tutorial.
Awesome that you know Blender! You can export your models for Unity, and from there it’s quite simple to view it in VR. I hope to have the tutorial ready within two weeks!
This is in fact something I have been aspiring to. I have been using altVR on my Oculus Quest. So you just built a world in AltVR? Did you use a dektop interface or di you build it using the headset? It's exciting! Nice mnemonic devices btw!!
Thanks, this is not AltspaceVR! My TH-cam channel is called AltVR, an abbreviation for Alternative VR :) I made this myself in Unity3D, but have plans to develop a tool for people to be able to do this themselves. Might also make a tutorial if people are interested.
@@AltVR_TH-cam Definitely, yes. It would be a great learning exercise, I tried making a VR game years ago and have really been wanting to try to get back into it. How are you doing the hand tracking? And I'm guessing you're using an Oculus quest?
Are you able to use the same apartment for multiple memory palaces or do you have to recreate your memory palace for each list you wanna remember how does this work with multiple lists you want to use for your memory palace?
im still waiting for a easy way to scale my walls and stuff in my appartment, being the full time working dad there is just no time for a hobbie like this, which i would absolutly love, to do !
I am soooooo interested in a way to re-create my apartment in a VR scene and then have ability to create something amazing instead of these familiar four walls. I think I saw this once before and it was like being in a tree house. Please please please share information about how to set this up :)
Would def work, but tracking and wires between rooms would be the practical challenge here. For one room though, yes, same process, although not using Oculus SDK
Just came across your videos, I’m studying machine learning and I’m interested in VR. Now I want to explore and play around with VR. Is there anything I can do in Mac OS?
Hey thanks. There sure is, especially in terms of development and newer Macs with actually powerful GPUs. I have a tutorial on how to do a virtual apartment and you wouldn't even need a heavy computer for that, just export it to the Quest
Hey, sorry for the late answer, but no I don't, though I find it very fascinating , it's not what I do best. Currently, I'm doing a PhD in Information Science with a focus on VR.
@@VoteforHealth-po9ei heheh finished with the phd now... but yes in many ways there was a lot of freedom time wise... and in some ways not. 10/10 would do again
