Hi Paul, I just used a scrap piece of 2 x 4 spruce that I had laying around. The saw was very new to me at the time and I was using the blade that came with the saw. I don't have much experience using a scroll saw. I usually just select a speed that seems comfortable. The plans for the toys are available as a free download from toymakingplans.com. I'm quite amazed at how many views this video has had. Bob

Hi Ibrahim, I just used scrap pieces of spruce I had laying around in my workshop. I had just bought a new scroll saw and these were my first attempt at making small cars. I've made quite a few toys since but didn't make videos. I used canned spray paint for the finish.
Hi Bob. I make the same toys, I use 1-1/2" thick Pine. Could you please tell me what kind of blade are you using for thick wood and also for tight curves? Thanks for sharing.

No sorry. I remember that they were free from a company that sold vehicle plans. Perhaps a web search could help.

Hi, I usually use a number 5 or 7 blade.

what was on the paper to make it burn only the letters into the wood? I've never seen anything like that.
It's just normal printer paper using a laser printer. The heat source (wood burner) bonds the toner from the printer to the would.
