My dad was a boilermaker at the 154 right up the street from Pips. Took us there for breakfast many times-was always great!

Ginny Lee (the sweet waitress)was an incredible lady! She was my daughter’s fiancés mom. She is sorely missed by her family and friends. God rest her soul.

Fran Toomey of Toomey Trucking, next door used to frequent it when it was Irens on a daily basis! Fran is alive and well I am happy to say, get to chat with him upon occasion!

Wasn't expecting my pap to have a 3 second cameo. Rest in Peace, Vic. (3:00 - Right)

We used to have Breakfast here quite often . The area this diner used to be is so unrecognizable today . Route 51 Has taken over all of it !

I had the pleasure to work with Kevin Butko, and through him, came to know his brother, Associate Producer Brian Butko, during the time that he was writing his first book, "The Lincoln Highway: Pennsylvania Traveler’s Guide", and subsequent/resultant WQED documentaries about the Lincoln Highway.
I miss viewing these "PA-centric" specials, produced by WQED, as not many are shown on WITF, Harrisburg. Some day, you must produce a special about the people of the Pittsburgh area; their language ("Pittsburghese"), customs, and regional loyalties (Iron City Beer, the Steelers, and Rymer's Lemon Blennd), as "the Burg" is definitely the heart of blue collar America.
