  • Join me as I perform Spring tune-up maintenance on my Club Car Model DS golf cart. This includes changing the oil and filter, replacing the air filter, replacing both fuel filters, and replacing the spark plug. This is a 2005 model DS with the Kawasaki FE290 gas engine. This may also apply to the club car carryall. Also, I'll answer the question, where did the DS get its name and what does DS stand for? #MCGtv #clubcar #ClubCarDS #golfcarts

    I have a 1997 DS gas cart. I love it. I purchased it several years ago, before used golf cart prices soared. I need to put new brake shoes on mine, so found your video in process of searching the Facebook DS group.

    Thanks for this. Lots of good tips, well filmed, well explained and entertaining! I think my Club Car is a 93. Now that I know how to check, I'll look for the Serial Number. Mine has a primer pump that comes off the front of the air filter cover and is located in the fiberglass seat riser right behind the drivers left leg. Mine often requires a few pumps to start after sitting for awhile.

      Peacefield Farm_MN thanks so much. Yes I did install the lift kit. I did it after work one day so it really only too 3-4 hours. I hear the electric carts actually have more power and can be tuned to go faster. I just wouldn’t like the cost of replacing batteries, but there are a lot of electric ones out there! Maybe even more than gas jobs. Thanks for watching!

    Thanks for the video. Question: Is there any maintenance on the ignition system..? Such as replacement of spark plug wire..? Is this a some kind of solid state system or is there a distributor with a cap and points..? What about the carburetor..? Any cleaning necessary...? It looks like there is a bleeder valve on the bottom...? Maybe the cover can be removed, carb cleaned and then a new gasket...?? Also, have you even changed the larger clutch drive belt..? It seems it may not be that easy...

    • @MyClutteredGarage
      @MyClutteredGarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi m m. There is no distributor or points that I'm aware of. And I don't think any carb maintenance is needed unless it starts running poorly. I haven't really had to do any other maintenance or repairs on this cart. They are solid! I run a Club Car DS Facebook group that is very helpful. If you're interested just search for it. Thanks. -Ed

      @@MyClutteredGarage Thank you for your reply. My buddy has an old Club Car work cart but it has the exact same engine. It is very old and kind of crappy, but it gets him around his property. It is backfiring sometimes on a deceleration. I agree there is no distributor on these carts and probably use an electronic / magneto ignition which does not require any service. I will perform the service you did here but i have a feeling that it may be a dirty carb.... probably a lot of carbon build-up.... I will look into removing it and do a good cleaning... These things are like tanks..... they can take so much abuse and keep running and if they are maintained they can probably last a lifetime.....haha..... I will also look into changing the transaxle fluid... and probably change the belts while i am at it.....take care..
