@@MulletPower75yup couldn't agree more with you. I built a cube in the Tarkir block and it's just one huge nostalgia throwback for me and my friends sinds a lot of us started playing around that block
You know, a behind the scene kind of thing with the actual draft would have been amazing. I get the episode has to not be *too* long but yeah, watching people draft is often the msot fun part of looking at draft stream/video. The presentation of the deck/retrospective at the begining was pretty good and an acceptable compromise, just putting it out there that it would be fun to see a shuffle and play draft draft.
I could see you doing a quick highlight reel of each player's draft, just showing the first couple of picks and then a few important decisions along the way, all narrated so it makes sense. But that would be a ton of editing for just a couple minutes of footage, so I can see why you wouldn't bother.
Saying this without even having watched the entire video yet but major fan of the cube draft please give us more. I think it would be super cool to actually watch the draft process and hear the banter if it was recorded.
I really appreciate that people read their cards out loud. I love listening to these at work and being able to follow along without seeing it's really nice.
I love how much fun people clearly have in these episodes. It's so clear to me, especially when there are people on the sides giggling to each other like Prof and Jessie at 104:30 I like the commander episodes, but it's so fun to see this with other formats too. Really drives home that magic itself is fun and for everyone!
I think part of what make your non edh gameplay videos so fun to watch are having four people present and all commenting on the gameplay. It brings the fun social vibe of edh to 1v1 formats which make them more entertaining to watch for me.
As someone who never gets to play vintage in paper, I really enjoyed being able to see it in action, and it was awesome to see how much fun you guys were having.
this is gonna be spicy!!! I'd love to see more cube content in the future as well edit: I was not disappointed, in fact this episode had everything in it
Your non-commander content is some of my favorite it makes me so sad that this gets less views. Commander is fun but Magic is so much more! Thank you for keeping the variety and I hope it doesn't go away with the next season!
Mason and Jessie are exactly such an amazing mix with the professor, i think the jokes comunally missing each other all the time has such prof energy and its great, and seeing the prof play suboptimally but still well, especailly compared to the tight play of the pros(minus some displacer kitten shenanigans but that card is both newish and cracked in half) just really shows off alot of the fun of magic, great show💞
my playgroup had a legacy cube before we even had precons for commander xD its so amazing what you can do with a printer paper random commons and a few sleeves :)
Cube is my favorite way to play magic and I love seeing more content about it. I know 1v1 isn't as popular nowadays but thank you Professor for still featuring it on the show.
I know this episode got awkward at some points, but i don't think anyone was being malicious! I loved the more competitive style play outside of commander! Trying to win games in well thought out and strategic ways is exciting as a player! I think episodes like this are why people love the professor! He speaks on how to "save Standard MTG" and then hosts people to try different styles on his show! Thanks for the episode!
Ive already rewatched this episode a few times, on my fourth rewatch! This group of players and this cube are *chef's kiss* i hope to see these 4 play again!!!!
Thank you so much for the cube game!!! I remember you promised it to me on the comments section for the season 2 announcement video I might as well go and proxy this whole cube some day
As someone who is in the majority and enjoys the commander stuff more, I A, appreciate the frustration creators feel when people say they enjoy a certain kind of content and then just don’t engage with it. That being said I do tend to put on these videos on a playlist so I do watch them. Two I like to think I’m honest about what I enjoy. Three I do enjoy that you do make non commander content every once and awhile on suffleup and play. Keep it up!
This is simply incredible content from top to bottom. The guests, the game, the smart plays, the animations, the humor, etc. Thanks so much for creating it!
I genuinely watch ALL of these. I like the different formats being played because well EVERYONE seems to have a commander show but not a lot of them do legacy, modern, pauper, etc etc. I look forward to all future episodes commander or not! :D
I love that D got to cast and tap a Mox for the first time (at least that's what i gathered from it). It's the same feeling i got when I cast a turn 1 Ragavan for the first time (in Arena's No-Ban queue)
Truly love this stuff. Thanks for giving all these cool ways to play some exposure! It really enhances my love for the game as a whole (and if it’s any incentive, it gets me to watch more of your content because I get so excited about it!). My love of Magic grows and another interesting format is within my grip! Thanks Prof for making this great game so robust and healthy
Got a tip:) ... its about the fractured identity play. If he chose to go for the throat his own questing beast the identity would'nt resolve and she would not get the copy and the Beast would be in the grave for reanimation. And lastly im also rooting for more Jessie. Get a female only episode with with or without proff 🥳
This was one of the funnest episodes of Shuffle up n Play that I've watched in quite sometime! Love the tension between everyone and their draft decks. And the banter throughout the episode is golden, as well. Everyone wanted to try their best to display their prowess on the field of Magical combat and show their knowledge of the OG cards; Yet only one of these worthy combatants can be the victor. And hey, lets face it - Prof. getting pissed and storming off to bump into the pillar is...Well, it's Magical. It's Prof. lol
I know this is an old video, but it is no one going to explain to Prof that cheating out Emrakul doesn't give you that extra turn. You have to cast it...
This is one of the best magic related videos I've watched! I had only ever heard of cubes but never tried one out and now I wanna try. Fantastic. Thank you Prof for always showcasing other sides of magic that often get neglected because Commander is awesome and fun for everyone. It just shows how Magical (haha) MTG can be regardless of format. I look forward to more Cubes, and hopefully more Pauper Commander too because those are also always good fun! Good luck on the road to 1M subs!
"And the reason I did not counter the Sneak Attack is you should be kind to the elderly and let them live their lives". Probably the best burn in any Prof's videos and it will stick to me for a while.
This was super fun to watch. I'm almost finished building my own vintage cube, so it was cool seeing some else's in action and how fun it will be when it is finished.
This might be my favorite episode yet. I love the commander stuff, its really the only format I play but this was so interesting and fun to watch. Makes me want to put together a cube lol.
The trick to vintage cube is always play white green... but that's only because those cards are under valued. Checked just to see if even the owner of said cube was smart enough ro realize this
Great video - super fun watch even though I don't play the format. I generally prefer your commander content, but try to watch all your gameplay videos. Wish you had done a losers bracket! Would have been nice to see more of Your and Jesse's decks.
Big agree, but putting more Hella expensive reserve list cards into the format without completely legitimizing proxys 1 messes up cedh a ton, but also just adds 5 more boring cards that "should" be included in every deck that can play them
Did you miss our Commander episode of Shuffle Up & Play with D? Check it out here: th-cam.com/video/xy5LnNtkWAY/w-d-xo.html
Love this episode so funny 😆
Prof hitting his shoulder on the pillar as he walks off was so funny, leaving as elegantly as he plays
I know your non-commander content gets fewer views than commander content, but I personally love it a lot more. Thanks for having a variety of formats
Glad you enjoy it!
While I enjoy the commander content, I'm really looking forward to this!
Same i barely remember 60 card magic anymore.
@TolarianCommunityCollege carmen, cedric and patrick are top tier. Do them again. Any format.
I also like the non-commander content much more than the commander content so I’m always excited for it as well.
Please more Jessie! Every time she’s on an episode, it’s hysterical!
Agreed
"What you need is Ctrl P!" 😭🤣🤣
Yes, and then there's some people that can't tell jokes, just awkward cringy jokes.
I cringed hard every time i told a joke.
I'll watch every episode with Jessie in it. D's nuts? Classic! Love how it was a slow burn joke that got everyone
I've never seen a cube in action, so this'll be a learning experience for me.
@zlink88 Cube is great! The best thing I've ever done with my collection is build a cube. Endless fun for me and my friends.
@@MulletPower75yup couldn't agree more with you. I built a cube in the Tarkir block and it's just one huge nostalgia throwback for me and my friends sinds a lot of us started playing around that block
Same! I allways asked myself what "cube" means but never googl'ed it cause i'm to Lady 😂
A tarkir block cube would be nice to have... also probably reaaaally cheap right now lol.
What is a cube again? I'm "new" to magic

Mason and D: Concentrating on the game to not make any mistakes.
Jesse: "What you need is control pee."

My man having Ghalta in his vintage cube makes me so incredibly happy. Such a sick cube
I think part of what make your non edh gameplay videos so fun to watch are having four people present and all commenting on the gameplay. It brings the fun social vibe of edh to 1v1 formats which make them more entertaining to watch for me.
41 hours to go, excited to see D on SUP, i started watching him from Corridor video's. makes sense he'd be into MTG as well
We had him on once before for Commander: th-cam.com/video/xy5LnNtkWAY/w-d-xo.html
I had to stop pausing just so I could laugh for like five minutes at the first D's nuts joke, Jesse is a treasure
She is, ye (came to say roughly the same lol)
As someone who never gets to play vintage in paper, I really enjoyed being able to see it in action, and it was awesome to see how much fun you guys were having.
I love how the prof has a great time in this video, even more so than in many commander videos.

D helped Jaboody Dubs film their most recent Halloween film skit, SO awesome to see him here
Vintage! Vintage! Vintage! I love to see it and i know others do as well. This episode makes me so so happy
I can’t believe you’re making me do this-
D’s nuts?
This content is just perfection. I want to see this stuff with board games.

It's crazy the D is into Mtg, I've been watching Node for years and never knew!
This was such a great episode, everyone had fantastic comedic chemistry!
The best part of Shuffle Up & Play is the chemistry.
The last match, the banter from Jesse and The Professor had me in tears. “Ctrl P” 😂🤣😂🤣

It's always nice to see people actually willing to play with old expensive Reserve list cards in paper.
Ooo vintage cube is such a fun format. My best Magic memories are drafting my buddy’s cube at his house with a group of 6-8.

love the vid, would've love to see the actual drafting process if you ever something like this again.
54:56 Yes, who could ever forget this deep and thought provoking flavor text: “AAAAAHHH.AAAAAAAAHHHHH.”
"I don't do bits or get references" - The Professor to Rick Glassman on TYSO. I beg to differ
blue in these legacy/vintage cubes can be so devastating in the right hands. A well crafted deck, built by a mason, is a thing of dread and beauty.
"We're just innocent men Jessie."
😂
I loved those two turns where he went absolutely wild with squirrel tokens, that was awesome.
Honestly glad to see Mason doing great with his life. I knew he was heavy into magic back in the day and good to see him succeeding.
Those guests, this format, the vibe, the prof, everything is so great and fun. Amazing video!!
Power Cube needs more love tbh. It's so fun and yet so few people have played one. Plenty of ways to keep it very cheap.
I thought they were playing Magic but after Mason's closing remark about the elderly in battle against Prof I heard a voice declare "BRUTALITY!!!"
He got him back at least, "this isn't a pro tour, Mason is winning!"
Have to say I am really looking forward to this video and really hope it gets the support it deserves!
I love these longer videos. I like seeing multiple games and seeing all the different plays that can be made. Great video!

Thank you for linking the cube list.
