  • This is my attempt to chronicle the legend of Tiki Gardens located in Indian Rocks Beach, Florida. Honestly I don’t think I ever went there as a kid but we must’ve driven past it often. It looks like fun…. Enjoy the video and please share any memories.
The 8mm video comes from the estate of Bob Baxley.
Many thanks to Bobby Floyd and Jon Bortles for their help.
Pictures are mostly from the Tiki Gardens group on Facebook.

I visited Tiki Gardens on several occasions over the years. It was a fun place to visit. It's sad that it no longer exists. Lowry Park zoo was another place where I spent a lot of time as a child and it is so very different now. I have not been back there since about 1984 as I have moved out of Florida and have not been back since 1989. So many of the old "haunts" from my younger years have changed and I probably wouldn't recognize them any longer.

My grandparents had a condo right across the street. They lived there in the winter and we would visit (we All lived in Ohio) and some of my best memories are of hanging out in the shops and the trail!! I could hear the peacocks from the pool in front of the condo building.. and I loved it…Such good memories. Thank you for this video 😊

I was just talking to my Mom about how we as a family back in 1978 would go there. I miss being a child
