I flew Qf1 (and 2) in June-July in Premium and it was unbelievably fantastic. I'm very lucky as an Aussie to fly Qantas often. I also noticed you were on one of the few unretrofitted A380s.
Thank you for commenting. Funnily enough I ran in to one of our viewers yesterday on a Cathay Pacific flight and he is based in Australia. We were discussing Qantas. He sadly has bad memories of how they handled covid but as I mentioned to him I had a great flight. Even if yes as you noticed it was a non refurbed A380. What did you enjoy most about Premium Economy?
@@liftoffandtravelRegarding covid yes, Qantas did some terrible things (Alan Joyce). However, Vanessa has really turned them around so I’m just happy they survived the pandemic. Premium economy was great, the ife was good, the cabin crew were friendly, the seat hand massive amounts of storage, legroom and cushioning. The food was what you’d expect in Business on other airlines (on proper plates, etc). Also that pride when you see the red roo somewhere else is awesome too.
@@JJ-vy2rh food is usually the first thing to get a budget cut when times are tough. Much like British Airways who have suddenly opted for breakfast service up to flights that depart even at 11:30. Breakfast is a cheaper meal option but who wants that at 1pm in the afternoon?
Nice vlog! Thanks for sharing the QF A380 economy experience in the other direction to the London-bound QF1 I tried out last year! Whilst I don't doubt that seat has good legroom- I'm keeping with a window seat any day!

Small correction for you, that aircraft is VH-"Oscar"QL not "Zero"QL. Numbers have only recently started to appear in Australian registrations but the Qantas A380s are all VH-Oscar Quebec (Letter). I miss the old upstairs economy on Qantas' A380s, absolutely brilliant spot that never really got filled out.

No problem, glad you enjoyed it. Where have you placed yourself? So the front cabins were full, the rear one not so much. However apparently it was during a quiet period in America because even the hotels weren't that busy. I think because of a large sporting event
@@liftoffandtravelwe have row two and three on the left ( I forget the number) in the front cabin of economy class. Well, that was another excellent, clear presentation. I have watched several current reviews for Qantas, and I would say the consensus is not overly optimistic, which is quite a change from reviews from years back. I do not think they sell TimTams in the USA, so I have never had one. I do not often look at candy when I travel, so who knows, I might have foolishly passed up this treat.
I guess because they are a foreign treat naturally we are drawn to them. What would travel be without a little snack now and then. I have to say I was skeptical because of all those reviews that said Qantas has lost it's way but I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. Had nothing really to complain about... except the plug
Just came across and great video! I'm wondering, 4:19 , I saw a woman sitting at window seat and was it 48A? Exit row seat BUT no extra leg room. I paid exta leg room in the past on qanats long haul flight but it was automatically cancelled without any notification several months later(maybe they thought I'm not good enough to be able to help passengers if something happnes as I'm not Australian) I'm short 156cm but my legs cramp very easily and I need to sit a front seat, otherwise I'll get headache. So I am looking for a better /best seat in economy. Thank you for reading my comment!
@@takogirl2006 it's an interesting question. If you have any limitations physically or note it with the airline they do have to change your seat because you must be able to get up and open the door in an emergency. This is where the seat I sat in becomes expensive but beautiful because you are guaranteed it even if you have a disability. I will just add that 48A isn't perfect because the door infront sometimes intrudes in to the cabin meaning no window and less floor space. I hope that helps 👍✈️
I'm 193cm tall. I really wish short people would not book the exit row seats, have some consideration and let us tall people pay for and have these seats,
@@jethrotaylor2614 I really do feel for you. I'm 5'9 and comfortable in most (not all) seats. I find 2hrs fine but anything over that the body wants variety. Different positions. Sadly besides Business Class it's just unatural to be in a seat for 10hrs let alone trying to sleep 😴💺

I think a lot of airlines are like this. Sister company British Airways held on to club World for ages despite being not very competitive. This is one of a few that is left to refit.

Thanks Lawrence 👍 on a very different flight today with China Eastern but any seat will do, as long as we get to see the window 💺😊
Qantas food is consistently good - I like how they use quality produce and the meals are balanced. Ice cream is a great idea too before movie time :)
