- It's time to leave Italy and head back into Austria. But not before riding over the delightfully twisty Jaufen Pass. Once again, the weather was perfect and the traffic almost as favourable!
The CB1000R performed wonderfully, as did the Knox Urbane Pro Mk1 shirt, that allowed me to NOT melt in the 30 degree heat!

Brilliant ride through a great pass. Love the camera work but the editing must have taken so much longer than the ride. Thank you for the effort. I’m still envious watching from lock down

I remember being put right by a waiter in marano about how they identified as German rather than Italian. Also why has tmf got two hundred thousand subs and you only have thirty thousand .He's no where near as funny/entertaining as you one of life's mysteries. 😂

I noticed that too and it’s actually something I’m going to mention when i take it in for service. I think that’s the cause of my sporadic false neutrals. It should spring back immediately! Shoddy Honda engineering! 😜

Cheers mate! I did overuse the 360° camera a bit at the beginning. I got better as time went on, I promise! The Norway tour was probably the perfect balance, in my humble opinion!

And yes, Tirolians love to identify as Germans - until people joke about german humor, german lovers and other assorted clichees. Then they hurry to identify as Italians again... until people joke about italian politics, the mafia, etc, then they hurry to identify ... you get the drift.
As a South Tirolian you can pick the best of 2 cultures. Throw in the fantastic landscape & the food and you are close to paradise.

Nice editing and muzak, but not so keen on so much of the 360 angle camera had to skip a fair amount to find a few of the normals front facing helmet povs as I was feeling a bit motion sickness after the first 10 mins. Some of the views and angles really are distorted. It's a great camera but I feel better to use in moderation rather than as your main camera. Usually love your camera set up and views of the road as you ride.
I think to the key to commentary as you ride on tour, on the beautiful mountain passes that you've been riding is NOT to talk too much, let the poetry of riding and the views do most of the talking. When I say you, I don't mean you personally, I mean you in the sense of the 3rd person, as your commentary is pertinent as in the history of the German/Italian dilemma. Your commentary is just about spot on. It should be a model for other YTers who make bike touring videos who never shut up.
Nice one Andy. Another pass to add to the list to conquer at some point.
Ps. Could you do a review of your mesh jacket(s)?

I can totally understand why the 360 views aren't everybody's cup of tea. TBH I may have gotten a little carried away in this one too! Kid with a new toy! I'm glad the commentary is working though. I realised a long time ago that not everything I say is worth putting in the vids! 😂 I'm waiting for the upgraded jacket to arrive from Knox and then i might be able to put something together. As they're not selling the old one anymore, it would be a bit of an off target video with the one I've got! Overall I'm extremely impressed with Knox's stuff though.
damn, these 360s seem to be spreading arround ... it takes me out of the flow plus I can't see your cornering speeds so I can be ... eh, I would take that like 2-3 kms slower :P
Haha! Sorry about that! I’m sure that once I’ve gotten used to the new toy there’ll be more ‚normal‘ shots again! Then you can shake your head at the breakneck speeds to your hearts content! 😜 TBH i had some gopro troubles in this one, so there weren’t as many Cockpit shots as i would have liked. That’s what she said!
I'm loving the Insta 360 perspective, Andy! Wouldn't mind one myself. Is editing the Insta footage more time consuming than regular go pro?
Cheers Craig. Me too! Seems you can do almost anything with it! It does add quite a considerable amount of extra editing time over the regular GoPro footage though.

Hi Andy that was a very good one to watch your bike riding and handling through the Twisties is very skilled like that of a GP rider, you ride that bike better than the fz1 in My opinion well done Andy for the video,
Thank you very much Geoffrey. I’m sure the cameras make it look quicker than it is, but nevertheless I’m very glad that is how it comes across! I agree about the FZ1 though. I ride somehow smoother and more relaxed on the Honda and that makes everything flow a little faster!

My son and I rode from Dorset to do this route in cloud and biblical rain. It was horrendous and we didn't see a thing. Thanks for showing us what we missed. Not bitter at all!

Ah yes! I completely 'forgot' to break the suspense! (Because the helmet camera didn't work!) I did make it back and had a lovely 3 course dinner in front of the mountains! Although some swine from the street was sitting at my table when I got back as he had just sat down and the staff assumed he was me! XD

Haha! I don’t think she’ll answer! 😂 The jeans I’ve got are Knox Shield Mk1‘s ( www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorcycle_parts/content_prod/486197/#/27945,3255,0 ) and they’re brilliant. Very comfy and I’ve even worn them down the pub without looking like a 🔔end! I’m waiting for German customs to release the AAA rated mk2 version, but i imagine they’ll be just as good, only safer!

Andy, Urban ABS luggage vs the Legend bags, I see you changed over, what do you think of the two and which is better.? Cheers.
I really like them both Jeremy. But of course there are differences. The ABS is bigger, lockable and easier to open/close. The legend gear looks simply 👌 and unlike the ABS bins, the more you chuck them on the floor and dirty them up, the cooler they look! But they’re fiddlier to pack than the ABS and a bit smaller too. If pure function is your goal, can’t go wrong with the ABS. If style is important and you pack light, the LG is hard to beat. The real Bonus for those in the luxurious position of having both, is that you can chop and change on the SLC carriers. No need to swap anything over.

No Problem Jeremy. I’ve only used the small ones so far. I thought they looked a bit more minimal, but I’m sure the big ones will be just as good a fit.

I felt that they were a bit too sticky-outy and i caught my shins on them a few times (not bad, just lightly while dismounting). So i switched them for something a bit more subtle.

I meant historically and in terms of language. Interestingly enough, Austria existed as a federal state of Germany until the end of the Second World War.
@@AndyManCam Austria wa annexed by Hitler just before the 2nd world war. South Tyrol was part of Austria until the end of the 1st world war. (As explained by Austrian friends so they could be bias!) Good vid though - now on my list for next year!
It's a very complicated history with a lot of to'ing and fro'ing! The shared language obviously shows that there are some overlapping origins back there somewhere! Most importantly, the place is a bikers heaven on earth now!

I do, although for various reasons i find them very uncomfortable. When I’m in the super twisties and I’ll not likely go over 70kmh, i might leave them out. But anything over that they’re a must.
@@AndyManCam yeah that's what I thought. And how do you find the HJC RPHA 70 helmet? They claim it's one of the quietest but surely not enough over 70 kmh

Cheers mate! The Sena I had was good, but this Cardo redeems itself by being SO small, I hardly notice it's there! I just need to rememebr what the buttons do and forget the voice commands!

Incredibly favorably! I had full laminated gear with me, so technically yes, i did have waterproofs 😁

Nice work with the 360 cameras and the editing, Is that a separate recording device?. Couple of shots to many with the down gear changes as there a bit clunky does not give you any credit, Good job! Overall
Thanks Bruce! Yeah, the audio was from a Zoom H1 that I had in my pocket. amzn.to/39iFGES Sadly the shifts on this bike are what they are! The gearbox likes to let me know that the gear is in!
