My great grandparents homesteaded here in the 1940s and now it's a thriving little town of nearly 200 people year around. I was born and raised in remote Alaska and met my husband in 2020 when he came to work for my parents resort. We got married in the spring of 2023 and love sharing our life with you all.

Salina, thanks for the update on how things are going, even with the hectic pace you are dealing with now. The burger looked very yummy and I always laugh when I see the extra whip on the husband's shake. 😄 The new build cabins are coming along great! As others have said, what y’all paid for your meal at the food truck, is about what we pay. Here in Kansas beef is cheaper but seafood is about $50-$80 for a couple to eat.
Every where is so expensive but I can imagine that far out it is nice to have somewhere to eat and not have to do your own cooking….Not like you can run to the grocery store 10 minutes away or a fast food on every corner ….beautiful views

Here in Michigan at my local dive bar two fish and chip dinners, 2 pops are $50 without a beautiful view.

I would 100% love to work as a Private Chef during Lodge Season as long as I’m allowed to work in the Garden too. I have been working in the Culinary Arts Industry off and on for 16 years.
I live in Spokane,WA. Two double cheese burgers, two regular rings, and a large chocolate shake from a local burger chain(Zips) is $46.

It is, but it makes it worth it at the end of the season when we have enough money to last the winter and possibly a vacation to see some sunshine

I live in small town Oregon a burger and fries is 18.00 bucks at the local bar. It is delicious.
The cost of living is sky high everywhere.
It’s probably nice to go out and support other peoples businesses in the middle of nowhere with no other options. The views and memories are priceless too.

Family owned or not, nothing is Free. Best not to burden the family biz by free loading meals.

Is it daylight most of the time right now where you are located?
Couple of questions. Do yall have to get building permits to build cabins on your property? Also, if your family owns this resort, and you work for your family, why do you have to pay full price for your food from the resort? I would think you should get some type of discount.
They get 2 free meals at the resort per week, but the food truck is not part of the resort, there is much more to the town than the resort, there's no reason they wouldn't have to pay at the food truck.
I don't think they would need a permit, but it would need to built to code due to being used for commercial purposes
