My parents always had a formal living room and dining room for the grown ups while we were growing up. It was always kept neat and tidy for guests. But in our family room/ tv room you could tell children were living there. It might not seem like something you need right now but as you add children to your family you might find that extra “adult” chill space a breath of fresh air. 😊 It’s coming along beautifully!

You may find that you really like having a second living room for now. When our kids were little we had an eat-in kitchen a formal dining room and a living room in our 100 year old craftsman bungalow. We turned our formal dining room into a family room. The living room became the place for music, no TV and no Legos. If you've ever stepped on one with bare feet you know how important that is. Once our kids were grown our family room became a formal dining room again.

Honestly, stripping wood work is awful. I know how it feels. I had to strip 140 years worth of paint off my door frames because the layers of paint had taken away the details of the original frames. It took me 4 weeks to do 3 door frames and went through so much chemical stripper. You’re doing way better than me!

This front room is going to be such a beautiful formal dining room! Another thought is that it could continue to serve as a formal (or casual) sitting/living area and the other living space could be more of a playroom once you have kids. The house I grew up in was a new build (bought at a time when land and houses were MUCH cheaper than they are now!) and we technically had three living spaces. One was the "formal" sitting room with a piano (right at the front of the house), one was the more casual living/tv room that was connected to the open-concept dining room and kitchen, and the third was a large playroom in the basement. The house was built with an unfinished basement, but my dad finished it almost entirely by himself, so he was able to create a large space for us kids to make a mess and be kids. Setting aside a space like that is definitely worth thinking about!

Stone is great for keeping oils fresh etc. I can hardly wait to see the other beams once they are done. The colour choice on the fireplace makes it pop out. You have quite the eye for design. Considering your mother designed several houses its inevitable that this is what you want to do for a living. Maybe one day you can branch out and help others to design their homes.

You have truly transformed this room with great work on those beams and arches! Carefully studied to the smallest detail 👌 now that the arches are complete, why do I feel the wall on top of the fireplace needs some trim to match? Then a painting to center the rectangle trim? I guess it’s my imagination 😅 The green stone container might be for tea leaves? But I would use it to store fireplace matches by cutting them to size, or for my colored pencils on my desk maybe.

I do the same thing when I go shopping! I'll hold it for a while, and if I get tired of holding it, I put it back. If I don't, I'll buy it. 😁 If I'm somewhere where I can easily put stuff back, I'll do a "detox" before I check out. I double or triple check my cart. See what looks/feels right to keep, and put back what doesn't (Sometimes, I'll even leave with nothing after I sort through everything. 😅).

I love your ideas! Have you considered leaving it as a seating area, just in case you need the other room as a playroom/ tv area for when you have children.

Hi MaCenna, love your videos! I think that green marble container could be a small Urn maybe for a pet. I know kinda yuck but I wanted to give my 2cents. 😊

I've never seen a cremation urn with a screw-on lid. They are sealed with a special adhesive. They sell these with the screw-on lids for loose tea or spices. Or you can purchase ones where the lid simply sits on top for use in the bathroom or on a dresser.

Hi Macenna, so the stone container is so pretty, you could put personalized tea bags that you can make yourself now that you have that beautiful garden; you put it on your coffee table or coffee/tea bar. I think the stone will keep the flavors and scents strong

Brimfield Flea Market is in MA and I've been going the past few years and I absolutely love it! I usually end up just walking around and looking at everything but it's definitely an all day thing if you want to look at almost everything. There's also a couple of other antique stores in the area that I love to visit (Sturbridge Antique Shops and Crompton Collective). Highly recommend going to either the May or September event though cause it gets ungodly hot in the summer. But with climate change who knows.

Love that green marble container and how unique it is! Don't know what it's for, but thought about you putting your Nespresso coffee pods in it 😆or maybe epsom salts in the bathroom 🤷‍♀ I also saw that Castlery is having their 4th of July sale and I was trying to find out in your past vlogs if you had a discount code for them 🙏

Regarding the green marble container with the screw top lid, I was thinking matches as well, or you could use it in the kitchen and put things like Chia seeds in there, or flaxseeds, or in the bathroom for q-tips, or extra double edge razors, or combs, or for little treats for Kinsley, or on your desk to hold pens/pencils, or perhaps insert a tall semi-narrow candle into it. Just suggestions.

I like the green container with the screw lid. It would be lovely with fireplace matches with with the part that you light going up out of it and then the lid beside it on top of a fireplace mantle. I think it would be look very nice. I always enjoy each of your blogs.

MaCenna I think you should do whatever trim you plan on doing on the wall by the stairs on the opposite wall (shared with the kitchen) as well! To add interest but without art since you want to do a gallery wall up the stairs!

Hi MaCenna, I know Brimfield very well. It’s actually in Massachusetts where I live. Best advice I have is be warned July will most likely be hot and humid with no shade, just open fields and a mile long at least. It is an antiquers dream, endless (lol). September is perfect.
