Jeffrey thank you for all of the work you have done for the truth community over the years...I have a first edition printing that graces my book shelf of your book 'The Roots of Consciousness' 1975 which I have always found to be a very informative writing! Happy new year to you and always look forward to your next interview!
Regarding the 20m mark on the Hindu belief that there are 5 Kosha/Sheaths of the souls, what is the process by which you transcend each layer, and is it believed that you can go back-and-forth? For example, children, the dying, and even animals, often seem to sense/communicate to a spirit entity.. what layer are those entities in? How would you go about learning how to improve one's antenna, or organ of perception / chakra, to pick up on things that your "5" senses don't detect? Would also love to see Alan Wallace on New Thinking Allowed. He's an advocate of using modern scientific methods to study the claims of Buddhism and other ancient belief systems. He talks about the experiment that could be conducted on the Wisdom Podcast "Dzogchen and the Science of Mind" (1h mark). BTW, any thoughts on the new Netflix documentary series "Surviving Death"?
Interesting and enjoyable discussion. Regarding the materialists, I think they believe the brain is simply a complicated meat machine. I would like Jeffrey to ask his guests to discuss their own metaphysical experiences. Some of them seem reluctant to do so and approach topics from only an analytic standpoint. Academics appear leery of public scrutiny and damage to their professional reputations.
@16:25... Staff... "and they believed that the only ultimate reality is what they call something totally immaterial, from their point of view anything that comes from that is illusionary". Jeff... "everything else is Maya the great Goddess of illusion". what if I was to say that there is only one 0 and that 0 is everywhere, in some cases that 0 is not a 0 but me or you, and the matter of us and our surroundings... we are that 0 creating that 1... we are that 1 looking back to see how we became 1... Thx... great chat... to me the only thing real is the skin, the surface... both sides, the inner surface and the outer surface each going into that infinity.
How about a body/body-dualism, as a sub-philosophy of transcendental materialism? (Example: the astral body, as observed by other entities in RV reports etc...the body of the Universe or Gaia as a super-bodies, or even the human body as a super-body of cells etc)
A common question in Science involves time and whether it's linear or block. Physicists tell me their math says it's block time, with past, present, and future coexisting from beginning to end and Now doesn't truly exist. My own experience says that Now is the only time that truly occurs, and all that used to be will become what will be. No Past, and no Future, only Now - linear time. Science also tells me that my consciousness is simply a one hundred milisecond wide smear of electrical activity in my brain. In the block time scenario we're told to think of ourselves as a long thin tube of humanity from conception to death through time. There's no point where that body doesn't exist. Yet - that 100 milisecond smear ONLY exists "now". This would say that smear is your soul, traveling along that thin tube - separate and distinct from that brain. My past is only a memory and my future is only imagined. This also allows a mechanism for things like ESP, clairvoyance, telepathy, prophecy . . . that thin tube of You physically springs from your mother, and she from hers, all the way back through time. A net of humanity running through time all interwoven and tangled, each thread ending but about half of them springing multiple more threads. That web of humanity would also be connected physically through time with all other life, on our planet at least. Possibly further. SInce the vast majority of accadamia supports the block time scenario, I would say they are actually trying to answer the same questions as the philosophers with just as much dilligence and faith.
@Bonsai Tree Yet, that small window of self only exists Now as long as it's bound to this body. Even if time is warped or we're limited in our perceptions. Neither of us need even have the same Now. We could in fact be the same Self traveling two different paths at completely different times. I've heard our planet is wrapped in a metaphorical thermal blanket, I've heard our planet is a soul trap, I've heard our planet is a soul prison, I've heard our planet is an experiment in bio engineering . . . I couldn't tell you what's true or not. If our universe is block time, the entire thing is a recording and all we're each doing is playing one of the tracks as it was layed down.
I've been working on a concept that brings comedic relief into this platform so as to expand the viewership I'm hoping I can reach out soon and maybe you would like my videos and I can be on the show I'm 37 + really enjoying new thinking allowed
This is an interesting subject but this philosopher makes way to many assumptions for my taste. Death isn't gloom to everyone who doesnt believe in souls or afterlife. There are plenty of people who are inspired by death in many ways to live a better life. At the same time there is clearly a high percentage of believers who are straight up cowards when it comes to facing any aspect of the reality of their physical demise. I've interacted with many.

Great interview! 👍
Really like Dr. Betty's books. Met him once. Nice guy too. Great program!
Wow, that was great Jeffrey. Thank you.

This was mentioned just before the 19 min mark, as a reference to sheaths (kosha in Sanskrit).
Rupert Spira on the show would be great.

Maybe hes just presenting an example, but its done poorly and with much bias.
