Damn, I played both Risen 1 and 2 but I never knew that. Such a shame in terms of talent too because his dryly sarcastic delivery contributed a lot of charm to the franchise.
I think you're going to like this one. Its not as good as the first, IMO but in general, I think its a nice game. Finished it as a demon hunter myself.
I'm still a sucker for the original Risen, to be honest. Nothing beats starting off an RPG as a completely blank slate in a world full of danger and possibilities.
@@KaiReel23feel you. But it adds its uniqueness tho. There are tons of games which take the same medieval things so they feel repetitive. especially at that time. So they decided to make something new and made it quite alright. Sometimes I even forgot that 3rd one is about pirates because of some locations lol
Takes a while to get used to, but once you do its a blast. The magic combat flows nicely, and as usual, you will feel like a god in the late game. World design is great and the characters are memorable. Factions are pretty diverse as well
Risen 3 is best post Gothic Piranha game and Elex feels like such a drop down. Also constant swapping universes is such a bad idea because none of them is properly flashed out, like Elder Scrolls. Having such lore requires consistent expanding in order to amaze.
Emperor Palpatine voice *vendetta: curse of the raven’s cry…do it”. But seriously, I’m incredibly impressed at your output over the last half year. Really great content man!
Thank you for the first impressions. With you playing new releases for the next week or so, I'm curious how an older game will feel by comparison. Onward to 200k. All glory to the algorithm.
On my first (and only, to this day) playthrough of this game I've decided to become a mage, and also decided to have an experiment - how much attribute points I can conserve until I become a mage and spend it all on Magic and Spirit? As it turned out, I was very successful in not spending any of them, and, when I finally became a mage, I've instantly had 70-90 of both and just 2-shotted the entire game with magic. In my opinion, there's 2 reasons for that - having a companion, and a really bad enemy AI. To elaborate on the latter - I vividly remember how I was fighting 4 skeletons, while my companion was fighting 5th one, and only one of the skeletons made any attacks, others were there only to watch. So it was basically 1 on 1 combat 4 times in a row. And once you figure out Risen 3's melee combat, it is fairly easy to stay out of hits and make your owns. So, yeah, I consider this installment the weakest one in Piranha Bytes games in general just because it's so unlike them - to allow an essentially lvl1 character to survive for so long without feeling underpowered, and then just proceed to make you the fiercest killing machine out of all of their games.
I am a fair ways into this game and I find it pretty fun. If I had one complaint, it is that the scale of the landmasses seems way, way too small. Still, overall it's good times.
The biggest change upfront is Pattie's front. Who is now your sister. Which is REALLY weird. Which is weird, because her character/model in the second game were such a big improvement over the first one.
Looking forward to watching your review of this game. As someone who has also played all of Piranha Bytes games too, I enjoyed this one back quite a bit. It reminded me of Gothic 2, and I liked the different feel of all the islands. I'm really enjoying your channel.
The game was unplayable on release and that pretty much killed it. It was barely playable due to technical issues (on some systems) even a year or two after the release. Looking forward to the reveiw and finding out about the current state of the game.
I played it a long time ago for the first time on PS3, didn't enjoy it that much (liked the 2nd one better at the time), replayed it again last August on PC and REALLY enjoyed it, better than the 2nd one which I played a year before it lol.
Put my critics in the PB forums for Risen 2 and most of it changed in Risen 3 (factions, faction armours, returning rune magic, redesigned ships and a lot more). I liked it way more than Risen 2. Hope you enjoy it.
Risen 3. The only risen title I haven't played. After the dissappointment that was Risen 2 and hearing a lot of negatives about Risen 3 when it released, I've written the risen series off. Very interested to see what you'll think of it.
i played it few weeks ago but couldnt finish because of a bug with the seabattles you gonna fight so keep attention to save your game over and over so you dont have to start it again
In the original German the main character has the same voice actor as Risen one and two, I initially believed it was the same character that at some point found out he was Stahlbart's son.
It varies but generally it is as long as I can make it, which usually lands somewhere between 8-14hrs. Occasionally I take a day off though, didn't really do much yesterday for instance.
the only problem I had there is an item that increases your glory gain :/ u kinda can get it at the start of the game so eventually I got tired anytime I start a new game I have to run to get the item....
Risen 3 graphics actually never convinced me. Yeah the beach in the intro is beautiful and all...but other than that no thanks. I take the warm and smooth G1/2 or R1 graphics. 🙏
I didn't hate Risen 3, but it's the only one that I haven't finished. Started it twice, put alot of hours, but 3 is very grindy. It has alot of Gothic 3 DNA without the stuff Gothic 3 did right. Still hate the R2/3 melee system though, R1's was so much better it wasn't comperable.
im quite disappointed the previous hero wasnt in risen 3 to finish his story...i dont see the point of using a new hero since the old hero didnt die in risen 2
Mechanically it plays better than Risen 2, especially the combat (magic is very fun) but the balancing is pretty bad and the game is really easy (by far PB's easiest game) as you can do the islands in any order and you have an AI companion with you all the time.. The naval combat they added was rather poor and not fun at all imho. Also, the story (and most of the quests) is extremely bland an unintersting and the final boss is horrible (most of the bosses in PB games are pretty bad but this one is the worst imho). Overall it is a really mixed bag and probably one of PB's weakest games imho.
All 3 of the Risen games went the same way for me: Good looking game, fun story, serviceable gameplay systems... And JANK JANK JANK. They all run so poorly, and the character controller feels off just enough to make playing the games more effort than they are worth.
Piranha Bytes game, almost like their signature, however it's the worlds they build that's the best aspect (like Bethesda's creation engine titles, great settings but you are going to see graphical and gameplay issues).
The German Voiceactor for the Hero died after the second game, so to honor him, the playercharacter was changed to Steelbeards son

I think you're going to like this one.

Finished it as a demon hunter myself.
The best installment in the series. Improved gameplay, decent story, great atmosphere and still charming visuals and pleasant tone of the whole thing.

I just dislike pirate theme they took risen to.

Risen 3 is my favorite one. The same goes for G3 with commmunity patches.
Ooo hope you do that video ranking all the PB games once you finish this one! Great vid :)

That is such a bad game, if he would review an RPG from Reality Pump let it at least be Two Worlds 2 (or even the first one).
I enjoyed Risen 3 more than the second one, wasn't as good as Risen 1 but it was good.
can't wait to see your full review video.
I just finished Risen 1 because of these video and kinda liked it so probaly gonna have to give the rest of this series a shot now also
I love Risen 3, except the ending that I found pretty subpar.
But I never really understood why everybody dunked on it.
Piranha bytes can't do endings, it always looks rushed

Flying as a parrot is pretty cool too. I love the maps in the game, especially Calador's ruins
I love PB games. I would love them to make soft remakes. It would be sell as triliggies with controller support and bug fixes.
I have played all the Piranha Bytes games and finished them all multiple times but my favorite games are still Gothic 1 Gothic 2 Risen 1

A player that is intent to break a game will always find a way.
Lost my mind with Patty in part two, havent played Risen 3. Eager to hear your founded opinion :)

Steelbeard's treasure was well spent.

I played just a bit of this, but the combat felt the best out of every PB's games yet, even Elex 1 and 2 that came after.
Thank you

Nice, my favorite risen, i hope you enjoy it
I enjoyed Risen 2. I wished if I had played Risen 1. Will get around to it and try 3.
You know, we would love you to review all Gothic games. Foresken gods and Arcana included.
The dialogue is the highlight in this game 😂
Don`t forget to do a PB games tier list after you have played them all.
Risen 3. The only risen title I haven't played. After the dissappointment that was Risen 2 and hearing a lot of negatives about Risen 3 when it released, I've written the risen series off. Very interested to see what you'll think of it.
Best one in the trilogy if you ask me. i really like this game
i played it few weeks ago but couldnt finish because of a bug with the seabattles you gonna fight so keep attention to save your game over and over so you dont have to start it again
Give "Archolos" a try. Its almost as good as Gothic 2
In the original German the main character has the same voice actor as Risen one and two, I initially believed it was the same character that at some point found out he was Stahlbart's son.
The speed with which you upload these videos is incredible. Do you mind telling me roughly how long your work day is?

I had a ton of fun in the third game
Dude, made me want to play this again.

Still hate the R2/3 melee system though, R1's was so much better it wasn't comperable.
I was a bit disappointed that one can't play a full-fledged mage in Risen 3. But I still enjoyed the game.
Why is that, i always develop a headache if i try to play risen 2, risen 3 or elex 1, elex 2?? Is it just me??
I like this channel because you get into games no one else does. Everyone posts the same crap
I liked this game a lot, seemed easier to get into than 1&2 and ended up beating it. It's a jankfest tho but stable.
Wait till you meet Margoloth. One of the nastiest looking monsters/NPCs in any game I've played.
Pls review iron danger
What you’re saying is that Risen 3 is an improvement on Gothic 2?
Is the review still coming?
Yeah in a few days, mentioned at the end it would take a few weeks because of the new releases between this and now
Bro is there will be risen 4 please say yes 🙂💔?
im quite disappointed the previous hero wasnt in risen 3 to finish his story...i dont see the point of using a new hero since the old hero didnt die in risen 2
That was a really strange decision and the new hero was exremely bland and didn't add anything to the story anyway.
Suggestion : deus ex - human revolution and mankind divided
2:37 LMFAO what a fight
So you just installed it on windows 10 and it works? or are mods needed? I'm finishing elex 2 and wanted to play this one next
I have windows 10, risen 1 and risen 2 work without issue for me, didn't check risen 3 yet, but I imagine it should
@@cathulionetharn5139 thanks for reply, you play them of steam?
@@bananana5714 They are fine played on Steam both
Risen 2 crashed a lot, but otherwise all 3 have pretty much been good to go

How important is it to have played the previous 2 games before this one?
2 at least would be helpful, but it wouldn't be a huge deal to jump to 3, you wouldn't know a lot of the characters though
Loved Gothic. But the pirate theme killed Risen for me.
First one.
At least characters don't look 4'5" in this one.
It’s funny that second gothic was the best one, first risen was the best one,so that means third elex gonna be the best one?😂
I will not fight becoming a demon. Not one but. In fact, I welcome it.
Shut up n take my money!
🗣🚫🤜🏼💵🤛🏼
Have you played Bound by Flame ?
Becoming a demon is a central mechanic there.
@@dennisdavidov782 I haven’t but will definitely look into it. Thanks for the info.

Magic so broken in this game. No blocking for you. Enemies block too much in melee to be enjoyable fighting them with sword.
I actually like Risen 3 the most. Except the ending, which is absolutely one of the worst I've ever seen in gaming, sadly.
Decent game but the worst from the saga. Half of the game you're insanely OP in any kind of magic. And that ending....my god
Patty's redesign is the most atrocious thing about this game
this game was so broken

I enjoyed this one a lot more tbh
Good monsters design, solid begining start of the story until mid game where become somehow repetitive and boring. Better than Risen 2 for sure.
