    You are hilarious! I love your style of presentation. Now, as for things I have bought and don’t use..... sooooo much stuff! I have so many stamps, dies, inks and paper of all kinds, not to mention tools I never use. I’m just a simple card maker who is nearly 71 years old. If I die tomorrow my children will be talking about my crafting stash for decades! I also have jewelry making stuff, along with yarn and polymer clay. 🤪 I also have an old doll house I was going to refurbish. I’m a very good video watcher. Getting the cards made, well that’s a different story 😂.

    I love the idea of that basket! I think I'm going to do something similar: Go through my crap, put anything I haven't used in the last year into a bin in "plain sight" in my office. If I don't use the stuff in the bin in the next couple weeks, I'm giving it away. Such a smart idea! Maybe putting that stuff "out" in my line of sight will help me distinguish between those things I don't remember to use, and those things I'm never going to use. Also, your pooch is super cute!

It's like you see it say on QVC and you watch a twenty minute blurb on alllllllllll the things you can do with it and you're like "YES, YES I CAN DO THAT, AND IT WILL LOOK JUST LIKE THAT, AND IT WILL PAY FOR ITSELF IN NO TIME!" and then you get it and reality sets in and 5 years later the stuff is dried up, cracked, broken from moving from one place to another, by then you've forgotten what the big hoopla was that intrigued you in the first place. awwwww but bless our crafting hearts, we mean well, we've got the best intentions, so there's that.

    I have so many bottles of Stickles, Enamel Accents, Nuvo Drops/Accents, and close to 100 small containers of embossing powders. I have very organized but seldom used gems, sequins, and wood veneers. I have ribbon, twine, glitter tape, and more rolls of washi tape than I care to count. My most hoarded thing is patterned paper. Did I mention it is organized...mostly organized...okay it is piled up in the closet. The truth is I rarely ever reach for any of these things and that definitely does not spark joy for me. Your videos have convinced me that I really need to find new homes for all of these things.

    Ooh gosh, I didn't see your other video but I had to laugh, especially when you put the embossing powder back in the drawer! 😂. I think one of my biggest regrets is buying just a few ink pads out of every line which is really ridiculous. I should have just stuck with the distress line because I like doing a lot of stuff like that and the memento, which is what I started with originally! I made little swatches and it's amazing how basically it's all the same colors it's just pretty different packaging for these other companies. 🙄. I need to find a fellow crafter who lives near me so I can just dump this stuff off. Probably my biggest regret is buying tons and tons of paper (12x12) from Michaels or hobby lobby on sale. And there it's sits. 😑

    Thanks for this. I am SO sick of this Hot Foil thing. I wish it would go away, Never even tempted. Remember they have to come up with new stuff all the time- spend spend spend. ugh. I am so guilty. But, the cricut and hot foil nonsense you couldn't even give it to me. And now there's some mug making thing- really? really?

    • @Kyomiibrown
      @Kyomiibrown 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I felt EXACTLY the same as you re: the Cricut. However my family got me the large cricut for Christmas. I left it in the box until just 2 weeks ago when I decided to set it up. My ONLY regret is not setting it up sooner because it is simply amazing. I am having a blast. I never need to buy another die set ever again, I don’t even need a die cutting machine, mine haven’t been used since I set it up. Neither do I need to buy a hot foil machine because I can foil with it. I can cut any stencil I want - I can even make and cut my own stencil pattern that I design myself.
      I can personalise literally any household item with any design - from clothing to furniture to cars. I can even do art projects, make handbags, quilts etc. The Possibilities are, truly, endless and it is easy to see why some people choose to make money from their Cricut machines.
      The cricut mug maker and similar items are really only for people who run businesses using their Cricut. These people tend to have a few Cricut machines on the go daily in their home making items to sell. The average Cricut user doesn’t need one in any way, shape or form as personalised mugs can be easily done on the cricut in minutes without one. So far I’ve only used mine for card making, I’ve made my own card toppers, my own custom sentiments and also used it to write custom verses in fancy fonts in the cards. My (grown) daughter is coming to have a play over the weekend, we are going to make her some personalised drinking glasses and I’m going to start making Christmas presents for family and friends.

      @mickeemickee3713 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I have a hot foil machine that I bought new at half off from a local craft store. I do use it and it does make my cards look good. But I decided that I would not get into the cricut or anything like that because I figured with the blades, inks, etc it would get expensive over time. I've already spent enough on the other items. Lol.

    • @Kyomiibrown
      @Kyomiibrown 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@mickeemickee3713 The ink in a Cricut comes from a pen only.... so very little cost as with a very cheap adapter you can use a variety of different makes of household pens, even crayola lol. Some will even work without an adapter. I thought the same as you about the blades, as you see the prices for them but what I realised once I opened it and set it up is that those prices you see are for blades AND housings - once you buy the blade and housing, you only ever need to replace the blades, not the housing. I’ve added two blade and housings, one for foiling and one deep cut and they are all I will ever need (as the two most important blades and housings already come with the machine.). It’s cost me £60 for both - I’ve spent much more than that on dies, and I can get 5 replacement blades for £15 which will easily last a year or more with very regular use, and much much longer if I only use them a couple of times a week. I’m going to make personalised jigsaws for family children for Christmas and all it will cost me is the price of the basswood or mat board/chipboard depending on which I want as the base and a little printer ink to print the image.

    One of the things that I did early on in my crafty days was create a ring that had all of my supplies listed on paper tabs. It looked like a key ring. Since I tended to gravitate toward the same things, I made myself pick three random items on my ring and start creating. It really helped me use ALL of the crazy things I had bought. My supply has grown drastically over the years & new/improvedd products have shown up, but once I get a dedicated crafty space where I can get my hands on things easier, I will try it again. That said, purging the unused is always liberating!!!

My downfall is cutting dies that make fancy squares, circles or rectangles to use as backgrounds for my central embellishment. I get so excited when something I've been thinking about goes on sale somewhere, I grab it up, and then, I don't use it so much after all. Sigh.... BTW, I too love Nuvo products, especially embellishment mousse. I'm not tossing it because it dries up sometimes. I do spray it with water and put foil directly on the mousse. So what if it may get contaminated--if it does, then I'll toss it.

    I bought a set of 60 Zig markers and also some alcohol markers that I never use! Unfortunately, when I started paper crafting I found out I wasn't good at coloring! I try to avoid coloring, but when I do color, I usually use distress inks, markers, or colored pencils. But I just had to have them!

    Too funny. Me too, I am an alcohol marker loser. Bought all the Spectrum Noir markers, practiced until I admitted defeat. Never mind the dumpster load of dies & stamps that inspired me enough to buy them but other than hoarding...never made it to a project. Love your videos!

    Four years ago I made a promise to myself that I would not buy anymore paper until I used what I had. (Not including white and black which I run out of all the time.) I still have way too much paper and I use it all the time. Regarding the foiling Gemini machine, I loved mine. Used it all the time and I thought at the time I bought it, I may not use this much. It got used almost daily. A few months ago, my grandchild poured glue and glitter on it and ruined it. I love that she is a creative 4 year old, but am sad that she was creating with something that I can't bring myself to replace. (Not to point fingers, but her Papa was babysitting at the time...lol) I guess we creative types always think we need it all. Hazards of being creative.

    Hey Laurel, I think it is really hard not to buy thing when we see cool people doing cool techniques. The industry is putting out so many new items etc.... I have really had to say to myself, "I am not going down that path. I need to stick to this and this lane " I don't own any comics, no hot foil pressing machines, no cricuts. I started stamping over 25 years ago, still love it, but have noticed there are not as many stamps as there are all kinds of other supplies. Die cutting seems to have taken over. Enjoy your videos. Thanx

    I have two sets of watercolors, and I am still trying to figure out how to use them correctly! LOL! I watch a lot of Kristina Warner‘s videos!
    I will admit I jumped on the foil bandwagon and I love it! I don’t think I will buy the foil hotplates, but I did invest in an inexpensive, well-known brand thermal laminator. I am actually concerned that foiling could start consuming me! It is so awesome looking! But my main goal, is still using up a lot of what I purchased a long time ago. I found that many foiling items could be used with the double sided, very expensive, tape that I purchased from Provo Craft that amazingly enough, is still very sticky!
    Oh, and Copic Markers? Hate them! Can’t get them to blend to save my life! My mom on the other hand loves them. I gave all of mine to her, or took them back to the store! We took a $35 class together and I still could not get those things to work. I love colored pencils and regular watercolor markers. I learned that lesson a long time ago!🤪
    EDIT: OK - now I DO want the Glimmer Machine. I'm SO bad....

    I actually have talked myself out of buying the pink fresh studio water color inks. I want them, but I don’t need them. I bought the 12x12 gel press at a craft expo when it first came out and still have not used it. I have a Pazzles die cut machine never taken out of the box. Used the Xyron Design runner once..it was a gift, but still. I could go on and on...some day I will find more time to create and use it all.

    I just do not color or use the Alcohol markers. I actually let my grandsons paint with them, supervised. I also have so many stamps I will never use! Besides painting, I like to make cards. But, I would rather do my own designs or abstract artsy. I was brainwashed by watching other cardmakers (whom I still love to watch!) into buying stamps that I should use and got all excited about. I am in the midst of downsizing and, oh my, are the stamps going! Thank you for your videos! I am not alone!

    I am saving for alcohol markers I started with my affordable Crayola markers and I would love to go the next step but the price point is the only thing holding me back, well, not really, also a lot of my friends suggest me different basic colors and that's another issue. So I keep coloring with pencils and watercolors. At the beginning, I thought I needed every single thing in order to achieve those wonderful results on the videos but little by little I found what I really like but boy! what a journey!!! Even now when I see a new product in the market I have to "control" myself LOL

      Ohuhu alcohol markers are WAY more affordable than copics or other name brand alcohol markers and can be found on Amazon. I highly recommend them if you wanted to try them out, but not pay $7/piece

    • @shadowguard3578

      I watched lots of Copic coloring videos, I checked out the price and thought why on earth are they so expensive? So I bought a basic 12 pack of Blick alcohol markers and one Copic marker from Hobby Lobby when they had the 40% off coupons. Then I found how easy is was to color with alcohol markers and why Copic was better than the Blick alcohol makers. The nib of the Copic marker is finer and more flexible and it’s easier to color in fine detail with Copic markers. They are refillable which is great, but right now some of the colors are out of stock from the places I usually buy ink from. I still use my Blick markers, but I slowly built up my collection of Copic markers. Apart from Blick and Copic alcohol markers, I don’t own any other brand so I have nothing else to compare them to.

      @@shadowguard3578 Unfortunately Hobby Lobby stopped giving the 40% coupon by the end of February and they had condensed their alcohol markers section quite a lot. At least in my local HL. I am considering Blick alcohol markers because they also are refillable. I appreciate your answer. Thank you!

    • @shadowguard3578
      @shadowguard3578 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@EvelyneJackman your welcome! I was also quite unhappy that HL got rid of the 40% coupon. I bought quite a few Copic markers that way! The Blick markers are good and are a great way to see if you even like using alcohol markers. Yep, Blick have refills which is important if you like alcohol markers. Anyway, happy exploring!

    OK I get your point here but now you’re just giving me more ideas of more things I want ha ha Ha. Seriously though I’ve been rehoming some of my art supplies but on the flipside I’m buying more stuff. Where does the madness end? I justify it with I could have worse habits. Between art supplies and my tarantula collection I’m out of control.
