Wow, Frank. Last time I was in the sport £10,500 was the record for De Bliksem by Denys bros and I earned £16 per wk! I’m hoping my return via Tim you put me onto is going to be way less brutal! 😂
Some disappointing comments on here, what does it matter to anyone if someone wants to pay a large amount of money for a pigeon, their choice, no wonder the sport is fkd with these sort of jealous attitudes and negative thinkers , always moaning,
Flew pigeons successfully for 40 years and only live 1.1/2 hours drive from Blackpool…Yet I never went once. There’s better pigeons in the area I flew than the dross that gets served up at Blackpool.Blackpool is the seaside town thst they forgot to close down (horrible place I wouldn’t even take the mother in law to)
There were many great birds but I was not really temped. I did look for a fancier that had some different bloodlines that are not so commercial. Many of the top pigeons sold were lines that I have tried or own now.
Both brothers went to China. The nest mate was 40000 but the video just got way too long. I had to cut out about 20 minutes out and removed the sale of the second pigeon. Took a forever with bidders in China
Chinese bidders who owns Alibaba,Temu, and the likes l😂 hard to compete with those kinds of cash hehehe. I guess I’ll stick with Frank’s auctions hehe it’s more my speed 😅 safe travel Frank.
Obviously more money than sense, what i find strange is every top priced pigeon suddenly becomes a champion breeder. We all know that this is absolute bullshit and that's been proven over the last 100 years. When pigeon racing was in its heyday nobody took any notice of young bird winners, I remember winning my club with 462 birds and being 4th fed with over 3'000 birds and you couldn't give the Bird away. Real champion pigeons were of a higher calibre and because of the competition few and far between. Looking at Alf Bakers real champions and the past champions once housed by Louis Massarella we are all being brainwashed by clever advertising.
In my very humble opinion big money leagues and birds does no harm to the sport. Untold billions are poured into top end football teams but there's still always a place for Sunday five aside and pub team football. I'm never going to compete with such birds but it will not stop my love for my birds or the enjoyment I get from the sport. I think more to blame for the death of the sport is the modern obsession's with ego, technology and talentless celebrities damaging young peoples values and self esteem. Long gone are the days of most children seeing the beauty in nature and finding joy in something as simple and humble as looking after an animal. This is however not the average persons fault I think its all a very calculated plan by the global "elite" to push selfish, ill informed, egoistical values on to children in order to create a generation easy to manipulate with money, power, status and misinformation. Not trying to argue or saying you cant have an opinion just an observation from a youngish fancier. 👍
totally agree, just saying as an average working man I still love playing pigeons with my team all from given YB's from local club. But yes unfortunately to play at a competitive level I would need a rather large cash injection 🤣 as you say, unless I happened to hatch a one in a million bird. @@barbarahalkyard1901
@Josh-NikkiB That was an excellent response, and I think you're correct. I, for one, don't think birds selling for big prices ruins it. It's still easy to get started and most clubs will help the new fanciers with birds. The actual cost of racing (timer, transport, OLR fees, etc) does seem to be responsible for putting a lot of people off, but the expenses are not extravagances. In most cases they merely reflect the fact the cost of fuel, product, etc. exceeds what many can afford. When you consider the cost of a new timer, racing fees, training fuel, etc., it's probably going to cost about 10% of an average take home salary for a first year flier. That doesn't even count feed, mineral, some bird purchases, training baskets, nest bowls, lofts, etc. At day's end, that is an expensive commitment, but it's not because it's lavish. I think those expenses do seem to put many off, but it's not really something the sport can control. It just merely reflects the fact that a lot of people don't have a lot of disposable income in this day and age in relation to daily living.
All good points but some outstanding pigeons that were as good as any in the world were available at 250 pounds. Many are chasing the highly commercial promoted pigeons and there are many super pigeons for a fraction of the cost.
I think it's safe to say that a lot of the motivation for chasing the highly promoted is often commercial. They will sell many, many offspring of those birds. Beyond that, the Chinese elite consider such pigeons to be status symbols of their wealth. The buyer will make his money back and then some.@@FrankMcLaughlinPigeons
I wonder how many times he's sold that homing pigeon 😅
It was a 2023 bird but the demand from the sire is crazy
You would be pisst off if you give all that money for a bird and it didn't come home 😂

Willem De Bruijn is the breeder. He races a family of his own mixed with some Leo Heremans pigeons.
Expensive Pidgeon Pie or what....Peregrine will have it it no doubt lol

She is an agent for buyers in China. She had 29 Chinese buyers on the line bidding on the birds.
Are you from texas with that accent ? Sounds like it mate.
I hear my accent in my videos. It is terrible and I must work on that. It is a Boston accent east coast in Massachusetts.

There is much hype and fanciers chase names and then onto the next craze. I never put too much emphasis on young bird racing when buyer stock.
Imajin going to the bank to ask to borrow 65k for a pigeon.
Witnessing a bit of history alright the pigeon sport going down toilet declined since these sales reps got involved.
Still many super pigeons at very reasonable prices. No need to chase high priced pigeons
Auctionier needs to consentrate
Stuart did auction after auction and I could not believe he could still speak.
Lot of money to pay for dinner.
They R buyers for the Chinese

it is a waste of money ,unless the young from these pigeons can doge hawks on the way home from races ,
No much money for the Chinese buyer. These pigeons have been winning for many.
How much? Mad , can they dodge a car,? Pellet? Hawk? Sheesh. More money than sense some people
