This is great information and clearly outlines the different methods and made me realize I was confusing terminologies.
Question, when you purchase a week direct with intention to enroll a resale week, does this have to be during a promotion? Does the resale week have to be in your account?
If you are doing the enrollment promotion, the resale week generally should be in your account before you buy the week or points direct. They usually have a cutoff of when the resale week must have closed in order to take advantage of the promotion. The cutoff date is usually on or before the start date or the promotion. Good information Jeremy, I wish I had known this several years ago. I own a week a the Grande Vista and 12;500 points and now wish to sell some back due to health issues.

Hi Jeremy. Changed to Marriot points and I have very little options for Europe. I have never used Interval International, will they give me European choices or do they fill up like Marriot European venues too. Can I convert my points to the Marriot hotel po8nts (ie old SPG Points now Bon Voy)
Question- for the "Linkage Credit"- do you have to actually buy something at the Sales presentation. Owners update in order to obtain the Linkage Credit? Also- are you aware as to if they can refund Bonvoy Points used to stay in a hotel near an airport in lieu of $$ ? Thank you sm.
Yes, the linkage credit applies as a $1500 credit toward the purchase price of MVC Trust Points. I don't think they can do any kind of refund of Bonvoy points. You can use the linkage credit against any reservation. So if you had a $150 hotel stay the night at a hotel before you arrived for the stay when you have the presentation, the linkage credit can be applied. You can also stack most of these discounts. So best to also be going in with an Encore Package and get that refunded as a credit toward the purchase as well as the linkage. However, in all cases you must be buying something to get these "discounts".

Points can't be used to exchange for other Marriott or Vistana resorts through Interval International. They can exchange for other properties, but I wouldn't buy points for trading in II. Deeded resale weeks are better for that. Thanks for watching!
