    *Works so well **Fastly.Cool** for rv that it only requires daytime operation until high temp and humidity are overnight. It is difficult to get to side filters, but back is easily accessible.*

    Thanks for the step by step guide. How does the H frame get secured to the roof? Is the sandwiching between the 2 air con pieces sufficient? Thanks

      It's also screwed down in the 4 outer corners to fix to the corner of the caravan.

    thanks for getting back , i meant the foam gaskets supplied with the ac to connect the internal panel to the ac on the roof , the cooling duct , did you need any extra of those ? Thanks again Ted

    • @DamianCandetti
      @DamianCandetti  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      no need for any extras, everything we needed was in the pack, only things we purchased was silicon and circuit braker.

    Hi unless I missed something you made no mention at all between the sealing of the roof to the H Frame. You put a gasket between the air conditioner and the H Frame but no mention regarding the roof and the H Frame?

    • @DamianCandetti
      @DamianCandetti  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      not quite sure of your question but in regards to the H frame, this is something that is not needed in every installation and was only put on the assist the roof with the load as the roof in this old caravan is not strong at all.

    Looks easy!

    Nice informative video, thanks.
    What's an approximate cost for installing one of these, just the Labor charge if I'd already purchased a unit?
    Cheers

      @DamianCandetti  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think it was around 3k including the unit from memory

      @@DamianCandetti not bad, quite affordable considering the comfort added to the van.
      Thanks for the reply

    Are there any steps missing in the video for water insulation? Or the A/C itself has a rubber seal to prevent water from leaking from the roof opening?

    • @DamianCandetti
      @DamianCandetti  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      the AC has its own rubber seal but if your putting a frame on the roof you need to use an apropriate silicon to seal between the frame and the roof

    Hi thanks for sharing, just a question, I've got a new small snowy and am thinking of removing the aircon , replacing it with a roof hatch. How hard is that to do?

    • @DamianCandetti
      @DamianCandetti  ปีที่แล้ว

      I would imagine this would be easy to remove, findind a hatch to fill the right hole size would be the tricky part.

    could you tell what size is the box section frame 30mm x 30mm ? and did you need any extra foam gaskets to fill the extra height from the frame when connecting the internal panel ? Thanks Ted .

    • @DamianCandetti
      @DamianCandetti  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I dont know off the top of my head but I would think 30mm square is right. and we filled the gap between the frame and the roof with silicon, creating a silicon gasket.

    Is it common practice to have the ACs drains discharging directly onto the roof? I read that AC condensate is considered distilled water and corrosive.

    • @DamianCandetti
      @DamianCandetti  ปีที่แล้ว

      yes, I have had many new vans and every single one drained onto the roof. and yes being condensed from the air it is not "natural" and leaves water marks down the vans.

    Hi, is the H frame only held in place by the A/C unit ?

    • @DamianCandetti
      @DamianCandetti  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      As I recall they put 4 screws down onto the top corners of the roof

  • @craigscanlan599
    @craigscanlan599 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

    The pre set in the H frame is to dome the roof slightly or at least stop it being concave and holding water and possibly leaking

    • @DamianCandetti
      @DamianCandetti  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      both, its to take the load of the airconditioner and to make sure the airconditioner does not make the roof rall the wrong way and leak

    Is it work in very high temperatures 45c to 50c ? MiddleEast summer 😅

      This answer would change depending what brand you buy

  • @conleyscooking2804

    How big was the hole cut out in the roof?

    • @DamianCandetti
      @DamianCandetti  หลายเดือนก่อน

      I am not sure of the exact dimensions, the size will change from brand to brand too so you are better to off to look up the sizes online

    Can you tell me how to make the H-frame, complete with bow, please?

    • @DamianCandetti
      @DamianCandetti  ปีที่แล้ว

      there's not much too it, you simply weld the two cross bars between two straight bars to make an H and then put one end in a vice and apply force to lightly bend all 4 legs the same direction (down)

    Can you tell me where you got the frame from? I’ve found aluminium ones but not steel, think we prefer aluminium anyway to keep it light.

    • @DamianCandetti
      @DamianCandetti  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      they built the frame onsite, Aluminium would be my go to if thats an option

    Interesting how to vid thanks! That old van is undergoing a resto is it?

    • @DamianCandetti
      @DamianCandetti  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe so, a customer brought it into darios to get aircon installed but seem to be renovating it themselves.
      I will be continuing to do some more videos on aftermarket caravan installs similar to this. If you have any ideas let me know

    Can you do this to a tourer caravan ?

    • @DamianCandetti
      @DamianCandetti  ปีที่แล้ว

      You can put these on just about anything given that you can support the weight and have the room on the roof

  • @danthel
    @danthel 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    We have the same and water go all over the roof and down the side of the van

    • @DamianCandetti
      @DamianCandetti  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      All airconditioners do this as they create condensation when running and have to let the water build up out somewhere

    Dometic is a American company that bought out Air Commander. Air Commander stuff were let go when Dometice ship manufacturering over to China.
    The old Air Commander staff started Houghton Air Conditioning.
