interessting that the spindle has enough torque to tighten that nut i tought of a system that engages some sort of geared motor / impact driver on the back since the aircooled spindles have a shaft that goes trough
And I have to say this this is brilliant. If you could streamline this into an easy to install kit at an affordable price, you would be basically a sole provider for a much sought after and highly useful product. I cant think that anyone with a hobby cnc wouldn't want one of these. I know I would and I'm only just starting with a cnc router
I have actually done what your looking for check it out on my channel you can get my e-mail from the about spot on my channel if your interested in knowing more also I will be putting out a new video soon

I’m sure he quickly found out cutting anything thicker and the bit will pull right out. I got a video on my channel cutting 1/4” polycarbonate and it pulled right out after making some tiny holes. Thought I had it torqued down enough. @@manifesto.c
Regardless, anyone that has written gcode and the mechanical to do stuff like this knows how challenging it is. Congrats on getting it this far. Stepping up to an ATC will be easy.
Nice! I will try an iteration. Looks quite promising. An affordable alternative. Spindle does the work in forward and reverse. Now I have to upgrade my grbl controller. Maybe someone has figured this out for grbl as well.
As long as it tighten the tool so it doesn't move, it would be a good system, could add a rotary system to rotate tools under a single pick up point....well done
Nice job! but I am curious as to why you haven't taken this further..?? I just put out a video using a similar principle and just found your video so I'm curious thanks
Do you have more info from the mechanics. Like how does the collet fit by itself in the spring loaded holder? Would be nice if you can show a bit more😊
Hi Cirila, i discovered this evening your atc video..very interesting...does it work under GRBL and how do you know if spindle 's is closed ? thank's a lot philip
I could be wrong on this but the springs are to help with thread engagement. The spring pushes the collet into the spindle and sorta sucks it in. This can (probably) help against stripped threads.
Hello really very interesting and it seems to work very well is it possible to have the plans dxf and or solidwoks and the code for mach3 please thank you very much 👍👍👍👍👍
This is really slick. How do you ensure the end mills stay in the endmills? Do you only use endmills with of the larger diameter with a tight fit in the collet? For instance 6mm shaft on a 5-6 collet.
Had this idea a couple of year ago for my PCB-mill, always assumed the torque would be to low. There's something similar, more refined called Rapidchange. He seems to be using the inertia of the motor spinning to up the tightening torque. The rest seems about the same. I will probably do something similar for my PrintNC. Thanks for the vid, great work.
Keep in mind, Rapidchange did not exist when this video was uploaded...;). Still, they seem to want to patent it. Not sure how they can do that when there's prior art out there. Unless it's their retention mechanism only as they mentioned he had to figure out a different way than "just" using a hex seat like here.
A brilliant idea !!! Congratulations. I would like to implement the system in my CNC. Would it be possible for you to send me the mechanical plans and the g-code of the project for the macro by mail? I work on Mach3. Do you need any financial contribution for this matter? Thank you so much.😊
hello, i'm a person who watched your project "ATC cheap spindle" on youtube, i live in vietnam i am very impressed with what you have created, can you share with me the G-code that do you use it to operate, it will help with my difficulties and i sent you an email. Once again I would like to thank you for your dedication to the CNC community.
this has been one of the smartest moves i've seen
good job
you should check out RapidChange ATC system... very similar...

This has been done by rapidchangeatc
RapidChange Atc has a product with software on this. They are a small company, like Father and Son size.
Check the Rapid change ATC system

Brilliant! Simple design and yet so effective! Did you ever measure with a torque wrench the Nm by reopening it manually?
just had the same idea today, really cleaver way of doing it. Great work kudos
How are you getting enough torque on the collet so the endmill doesn't pull itself out?
From the looks of it. The cuts he's taking are so extremely light, it's probably not putting much force on the tool.
Shhh... let him think he is an engineer

Fluidnc can and also if you can write the gcode, you can run that without a tool change command option.
@@bukunmioyedapo45 sweet! Like a macro... yes, of course! Thanks for the tip.

Thank you very much for showing your ATC.
It is a fantastic idea.
How do you get the Probe to run after the Change?
Thanks for sharing.
It is a basic gcode edit. You can find many tutorials online

I need one!
Thanks fo a nice video.

most brilliant way, thank you so much for sharing this with us ❤
Hello friend, that tool change system works for a CNC workbee 1515 xpro v5
What program are you using on your CNC Router? your job is very nice 👍👍👍.
Very great job!!😊
Hi Cirila, i discovered this evening your atc video..very interesting...does it work under GRBL and how do you know if spindle 's is closed ?
thank's a lot

Yes, I love it
Great ❤.. what is this things that have springs and screw or unscrew the spindle
This is really cool! Is that spring loaded? How does it work?
I could be wrong on this but the springs are to help with thread engagement. The spring pushes the collet into the spindle and sorta sucks it in. This can (probably) help against stripped threads.

Does it works if I don't have reverse spindle?
This looks interesting and a cheap way to change tools. How reliable is it? What happens when the tool gets stuck when trying to release it?
RapidChange ATC look them up
RapidChange ATC has very similar design. A small father-and-son operation is selling this as a product with supporting software.
How did you make that

I use all kinds of endmills, from 1mm in up. End collet from 1mm in up. Even tools for engraving .... Never had any serius problems.
@@cirilazenko3212 How does it work?
Bigger ones are heavier and will slip out from collets

Hey, maby u use linuxcnc ?
I so wish I had the info on this build...
Can you tell me how you control the indexing of the collet nut?
No
Hi i love the work is there a way we could replicate this ? I would love to install one on my machine!
Hello, could you give me more information regarding the tool change please?

Can you please send me the 3d drawing if you do t mind? This is really nice one for my hobby CNC work.
Can you share new video, and what is your cnc controller?
What in the particular do you want to see ? Mach 3 and most common board connected by parallel port with computer.
Are you using a basic vfd and spindle?
yes.
how can i get that
Hi can you share files to do it please and instructions for cncjs or the software you use
Send me mail. bojan.dolgan@siol.net
fantastic, exactly what i had in mind, Cirila, do you have any drawing as i would like to add this to my CNC?
Wow really cool. Can you share code to do it ?
No
is this publicly available?
a geniale ou je peut trouver ce systeme de changement outil ?
HI! Very cool idea! Can you share files and code to do it please ?!
How do you ensure it doesn't cross thread?
I think the system must be calibrated to be exactly perpendicular to the spindle

what is your controller? how did you code it?
Mach 3.

I do not understand how you ensure the collet is properly tightened 🤯
It dipends on speed of spindle in the specific operation. You can determinate very acuratly.
Can you post the code used to get it to work?

Hello, thank you for your efforts, can you send me the code please?
Amazing, Please share the Post Processor file
