Great video! What a fun scenario.
I see you played it too
Incidentally, the Storozhevoy was IRL the ship commanded by one Valery Sablin, who some people may be familiar with.
Hehe
Aim-54A: Shoots down Stealth's Helicopter.
Stealth: Ah, this guy could have fired it (Altitude 0ft, speed 11 knots)
Me: Yeeeeeeeeeah
(The AIM-54A was carried almost exclusively (maybe even totally exclusively) by F-14 Tomcats)
Sorry, I'm not an expert.
obviously they modified their Air to Air Missiles to be Surface to Air Missiles!
@@ham_the_spam4423 Funnily enough the iranians actually converted the HAWK SAM missiles as stand ins for the aim54
@@TheJayjam actually the hawk missiles were used in place of the sparrow as the hawk is a fox 1 not a fox 3.
@@Stealth17Gaming Another tip for surviving missiles, Fly away from the missile called going cold. Also go as low as possible and drag the missile into thicker air. Both these actions will increase chance of survival. Last thing you can do if modeled in game is fly 90 degrees to the targeting source and notch the missile.
Just a short explanation to missiles. The letters show what their role is. SA-N means Surface to Air - Naval, SS-N means Surface to Surface - Naval
Thanks
That Aim 54 Phoenix was launch by F14 Tomcat only platform in US Navy that carried them
and the navy NEVER used them in combat. Iran did though. Weird huh?
Stealth had his surface to air radar on and never saw any F14s
@@jefferydraper4019 they were used in combat by the United States as well as Iran however the US Navy never managed to score any kills with it but I believe it was fired two or three times.
@@afatcatfromsweden US hasnt been allowed to use it because its range is too great and the fear of shooting down an airliner or other non-combatant. Almost all US combat has been waaaaaay less than Phoenix range.
@@CED99 Given the legs of the AIM-54, the launch aircraft could have been beyond the range of the Kara's Air-search radar. If the F-14 was flying EMCOM and shooting at the bearing of the helicopter's radar on it's Radar Warning Receiver, it could have been shooting from a fair way off and hoping that when the AIM-34 went pitbull it picked up the helicopter.
Well done on the promotion to submarine commander!
Came much sooner than I expected
dont worry those ships just turned into submarines
Playing Russia?😂
@@waskus Ukraine's economy sank faster than Russian ships lol
Yay! Fleet Command remake is finally ready!

harpoon ;)
Only had to wait 25 years
@@mrazikcomp Command is the new Harpoon. This is new Fleet Command (slightly less hardcore and with really nice 3D view of what's going on).
I'd love to see a Modern Ultimate Admiral Dreadnoughts version that starts at 1940 and keeps going to 2010 with missiles/anti ship/cruise. And tracking torps and counter measures.
Absolutely
I’m late to the party but that AIM54 could have been launched from well over 100 miles away - most likely from an F14 but definitely from an aircraft as it’s an air to air missile
Looks like a great game already. A minor detail I find the drop down menus one has to use for each individual ship. That makes task saturation a guaranteed aspect of any scenario imho.
Tip: when engaged, do not turn broadside to engage the CWIS: you'll make an even easier target for Harpoon radars against the surface clutter. Just slightly angle towards the incoming threat to give both CWIS line of sight while minimizing your radar return.
Cheers.
"Intercept those missiles if you want to live …" Oh, well, I guess you are tired of life, silly ship
Oh man, bring on the Sea Power videos! Really glad to see that it plays about how I wanted it to. Great video as usual
I fully plan on making Sea Power my new main game for a good while
@@Stealth17Gaming Excellent! Will be checking them all out! Cya in the next one
devs - TAKE YOUR TIME. DO IT RIGHT. we will love you for it
I swear, it' been the third time, when i remember about this game and search it up to see if something was done something new gets released, i had just searched the game up a few minutes ago
"I'm going to wait to go weapons free"

Stealth17 continues to get better as the years go on, a fresh respite from the degradation of other TH-cam channels!
Radar echos are really accurate on range and have 1~3 degrees of deviation on bearings, you can trust what the radar detects. Unlike bearings from electronic emission.
be aware that radar waves can reflect on targets and create false echos at some specific angles and distances (reflecting off two ships creating a 3rd targets). It can be identified when the flase echo have the same distance or a similar angle of reflection.
Gives me flashbacks of playing Harpoon back in the early 90’s on a 286SX :-)
Note for the devs - it’s a bit inaccurate to represent friendlies as blue and bogies as red from the Soviet perspective… From that side it’s the Reds who are the communist friendlies and the blues are the enemy capitalist lackeys! 😅. So, whichever side is being played, it’s best to always keep NATO blue and WarPac red on the map.
It becomes a problem though once you have non-aligned countries in a scenario. From a UI point of view it's much easier to follow the NTDS convention of friendly, hostile, neutral, unknown. In real life, the Soviets had their own tactical data system with its own display symbology (which you can find in World of Warships). For us as a small dev, just sticking to NTDS is a lot less headache.
But red is kind of a natural human instinct for something bad. It's why warning signs and lights all use red. AFAIK even within NTDS, red doesn't necessarily mean Red for commies, it's red for baddies. So from the Soviet pov, blue is friendly(Warsaw Pact) and red is enemy(NATO), simple and easy to understand.
same here, I hope this is as good as it looks, interfaces and drop downs need some work.
@@julhelm1821plus I have chronic gamer brain personally and kinda just except games to flip the colours accordingly so I agree with u.
On retrospect, maybe let your fleet be weapons free when they under attack :)
God I remember us talking about this what felt like an age ago. Glad to see it is finally coming out.
Maybe Modern Naval Warfare will come out sometime this decade as well!
We almost got USS Adams as a museum ship, but it was so worn out the navy couldn't say how much longer it would have been able to float. All we end up with was the ship's bell. We got USS Orleck instead.
The minute I saw that Phoenix missile was the moment I realized that the S-2 giving you the briefing LIED about the "small escort"....
Damn I remember you showcasing the trailers and in-development screenshots back in 2022, I've been waiting eagerly for this >:) Very, very excited to see it's releasing into EA soon. Thanks Stealth for your coverage as always o7
This is together with Falling Frontier my most awaited game.
Looks like Harpoon grew up and had a child. This game seems to have potential.
Looking very much forward to this game. One of those games I kept hoping for. We had a few in a far away past, but never had modern version that isn't overly complex either.
does this game have a full map view like cold waters? that was my preferred way to play that game
Yeah
I honestly can't wait to see how this turns out my friend
maybe you could've won if you were more aggressive and fired several anti ship/anti sub missile at each warship. also it might've helped if you were more proactive in requesting IDs from every contact, is there a way to tell your ships/aircraft to automatically ask for IDs?
Kinda disappointed the SS-N-14 doesn't have animation where it drops the torpedo. But the game looks awesome. The helicopter take off, and the Russian chatter making the game looks alive.
Damage looks weird, but it is okay. The damage distribution across ship parts doesn't seems real. Maybe the Russian ships are small or have less compartments idk. Like less bulkheads option on Dreadnoughts.
About AIM-54, you should use F-14 more often at Wargame RD 😂.
You're dropping helo's altitude to evade the missile is a right choice, maybe need to be more aggressive for a better result. Also make a 90 degree angle from the incoming missile. The technique called as notching if I'm not mistaken.
The SS-N-14 does not drop the torpedo in anti-ship mode, only when shooting at submarines.
@@Svenyboy42 oh, i see.
that phoenix missile at the start .... it was launched from an f14 tomcat and the tomcat was launched from a carrier. You were probably dealing with a carrier battlegroup. I will assume that you were going after some kind of transport ship, probably at the middle of their formation. Should have played the game passively untill you have your target identified , launch many missiles towards that one target only and run away at maximum speed.
Can't wait to play this. Those Soviet ships have great anti ship missiles but didn't get to fire any. What a teaser you made ! lol thanks
Maybe use your chaff a bit more as the last line of defense
Youre playing the Grozny...a SOVIET warship. Soviet ship design favored throwaway weapon systems. Notice theyre ships show pretty much all the weapons they carry. They literally "drip" with weapons because the Soviet philosophy was they wouldnt last long once they entered combat (Remember, all the Soviets cared about was supporting the army in Europe if war happened. Everything was geared to win the land war in Europe) so use it or lose it. Compare these ships to NATO ships which emphasized survival as well as weapon systems.
They did make beautiful ships though. Cheap, but beautiful.
So dump more weapons into the water?
@@Stealth17Gaming if you're not dumping your entire magazine in a single battle then (optionally) returning to port without any missiles or shells left, you're not doing naval combat right!
That's not very close to the truth. The soviet navy knew it was contending with an enemy that had fleet carriers and attack submarines for days, and so their ships needed to be capable of surviving in an environment where all the fish are nuclear-powered and the weather forecast has a 95% chance of air-launched harpoons. Soviet ships had some very good missile defence systems, and equally deadly anti-ship weapons. The reason they didn't do so hot here, I think, is because Stealth forgot to give the commanders permission to defend themselves at their discretion until after he lost his flagship 😆
@@Paveway-chan You need to read a lttle more of Sergei Gorshkovs writing. Thats why Soviets never built a true logistics support fleet like most other countries and no more amphibious support than they did. All near Littoral support only. The only ships they expected to be very far away from the Eurasian continent were subs.
@@jefferydraper4019 That's true, but Soviet ships certainly weren't designed to be completely 'throwaway'. For example, the Kerch has 120 surface to air missiles of various descriptions - including a secondary system devoted solely to defense, the Osa SAMs - four AK-630s (roughly the Soviet equivalent of a Phalanx, although not quite as good) which is more than any NATO ship smaller than a carrier ever mounted, as far as I know, and a pair of twin 76mm autocannons for good measure. That's quite a lot of air/close-in defense systems.
I look forward to move coverage of this game. Definitely looks great
finaly been waiting on this game for so long
Two air contacts at 10,000 ft over open water flying in loose formation and they end up being airliners? That's kinda dumb. Like the game is baiting you.
Im hoping the campaign in this game is kinda like war on the seas, that would be awesome
when you declared that you were stopping Dreadnought, I figured it was either this or Carrier Task Force that was coming up... still pleasantly surprised since I thought the embargo would last a month or two more
It was very hard to keep my mouth shut about this as I'd had access for a while
ANOTHER TH-camR IVE SEEN 2 AND NOW 3 , BUT NOW 4!! WOLFPACK, GONNA WATCH ENIGMA NEXT, YOU AND VULCANHD OH MY GOOOOOOOOOOD IM SO HAPPY (i love this game and i really want it)
when I'll play this game, I won't speed up the game itself. I want to be able to see in real time what happens also to check on the units design
Good luck on a 24h scenario
Awesome thanks for the video! Very hyped for this game!
I am interested that is for sure. I know red dragons naval combat always gets hate but I found it fun but frustrating unless I was using the Russian heavy ships
Micro Prose is back baby!
Watch out for that Storozevoy, it might make a run for Sweden....
I see.. trying to keep the Russian navla tradition of turning everything into submarines alive, huh? xd Though I couldn't have done any better probably. Also this game looks sick! I'd love to see more of it
Time to put Dreadnaughts on the shelf till 2025
You could have saved your helicopter with flares/ chaff.
I believe it didn't have it or it would have deployed it itself
@@Stealth17Gaming maybe it wasn't set to weapons free so it was unable to use them
God damn it, I already have UBOAT to play lol
So excited for this game
Great video man!
Looks awesome, can’t wait!!
Yes!
How much does it feel like a modern version of Fleet Command?
ah, good ole harpoons and their cute little death dive
10K feet is WAY too low for most passenger planes over the ocean. they typically stay 50K to 60K feet.
More like 30 - 40 but yeah
@@Sam-fl1yr it depends on the aircraft

Well... I'm sold.
I wonder if Awacs are in this game as those will be a pain to deal with if they are not detected early.
E-2 and E-3 are in.
@@Cplblue That could make things difficult on missions where you play as the Soviets unless the Soviets have something to counter them.
@@dragonslayer2107 I believe they have equivalents

FINALLY!
Love the look of the russian ships.
I assume all battles are more of a use it or loose it kind of thing? So ships start getting fired at they should launch everything they got? ^^
Not really. If there's a second wave and you've wasted too much ammo you're toast
@@Stealth17Gaming Well... Your ship got hit, most missiles still in their launchers and disabled - not sure if that is helpful either ;)

Your strategy was faulty, should have attacked the cargo ship behind the Spruance, that was the objective. I'm sure you were just trying things out as a demo.
lol, was painful
It surely was
what about WARNO?
Not playing that. It just doesn't get any views for me.
Cant believe this other guy Raptor just went the same scenario going in 'wak em all rambo' and he did it without a loss and you doing it way more professionally got you killed... Something was wrong with your AA defence, it didn't work. But Weapons tight should not mean do not shoot, but shoot what is shooting you, so why no AA? Did you disable it by mistake?
yo i thought you were dead
How so?
WOOOOOOOOOOO
YOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
God hell no, why games always use NATO designations for russian missile and weapon systems, why not the historical ones from their perspective....
I understand your argument, but why not the option to choose between which one they use? Generally they use NATO designations because NATO includes a larger population of the world, so it's easier to understand versus Russian, which is a fairly localized language.
I always say choice of both over either accuracy or accessibility.
I agree you should have an opinion to choose. It would also be less confusing when Russian designations are clearer compared to nato marking everything the same, then you can’t clearly see with Quick Look if it’s SAM or AShM
If the game doesn't have an option to use the Soviet names, I'll make a mod for it. I first got into Cold War weapons through the Wargame series, which uses the Soviet names, and I've found them easier to keep track of ever since. I can tell you the difference between an R-24, R-73, R-27R and R-27T, but I still never remember which one is the AA-11 and which is the Alamo.
@@DecidedlyNinja Exactly, soviet names makes more sense than remembering dozens of codes from 1-30 for AA, AS, SS, AT and other codes.... plus it adds immersion while they speak russian and you control russian ship, but have some weapons in russian GRU nomenclature classification and some NATO, like what.
Also the color of the unit symbols -- of course red was their color for "friendly"!
This game comes across as VERY boring.
Might not be for you then
*_Overcomplex with mobile graphics. How much that junk cost?_*
Go play wows.
This was a horrible showing. The ships should be positioned in a way that their CIWS can protect each other and you should had fired off your missiles the moment you saw that enemy missile heading for the chopper
This was my first time playing. Of course I'm going to be bad at the game then.
@@Stealth17Gaming This is not a game that requires trial and error or the like so I am not sure what your point is.
I am sure you're awesome and everything but I am learning. That means I will make mistakes. If that's not for you then I suggest you watch other videos. @@onsholo
