I recently was given this prescription by my new endocrinologist, so I wanted to learn more about what I was taking. I find this presentation very clear and informative even for an accountant like myself. I previously only achieved as low as 7.6% a1c with the max metformin + glipizide + actos regimen. Now I'm only on metform + mounjaro 2.5. In my two weeks my libre3 indicates my GMI is 6.6 in the last week. I know GMI is not the same as a1c, but seems more effective than the glipizide + actos even on this starter dose, at least for now. I'm not sure if the dosage should remain at the 5mg level if a1c of less than 6.5 is already achieved, or if its standard practice to push all the way to the highest dose if its tolerable. I find the side effects to be quite tolerable, it seems to balance out the metformins side effects at any rate.
Are they doing in trials for Type 1 Diabetics? I am type 1 and have been taking this for two months with incredible results, my A1C went from 8 to 6. Now I am having trouble getting my insurance to cover because I am not a T2D. It seems like they would approve this for type 1 before obesity.
