The Ford Transit was heavily favoured by armed robbers in the past because it was surprisingly fast and controllable. That said, the Securicor van would have probably had some kind of protection, which, in turn, would have had a weight penalty. However, it might also be the case that the engine was more powerful than a standard Transit.

The person who called Crimewatch was a relative of of Monks ( Monks was his nephew ) that was how they got caught, the relative turned down the 12,000 pound reward money.
I remember this case a man abducted and killed children drove south where there bodys were found. He was found guilty of all 3 murders. He is one sick individual who picks on vulnerable schoolgirls.

Monks is out and lives in Dundee. Bought a house there in 2016.
