Thanks! They’re one of mine too. I wanted to do something with the genesis. This was the idea first that came to mind. I’m definitely up for a follow up. It’s just I have other stuff already in production.
I've played all of these except for Light Crusader. Dunno how I missed that one I guess it slipped passed my radar. I'll have to check it out, even though you didn't exactly give it a ringing endorsement. lol
Yea I discovered that game maybe around 2006. It’s never been a game I could get into. People do say a lot of good stuff about it. Just not my cup of tea. I didn’t want to lie and say I liked something I didn’t.
Yea… they had some misses going into the ps2. Astro boy on the GBA is phenomenal. I know gunstar super heroes didn’t review well. I haven’t played it myself yet though. The GBA is really the last time I was hearing them mentioned. I know they made stuff until around 2013 or 2014. I’m just not familiar with the games from that time. They’ve been on hiatus for a while now.
The other reason they left to form 'Treasure' was also because they felt Konami was way too biased towards Nintendo and believed Konami wasn't being fair with other competitors who had just as much potential to show as the SNES did!
Yea the ceo said that the Super Nintendo was a pain to develop for. I got everything in the video from a game fan interview from 1993. I basically just went off what he said in that in article. He also said he really preferred the processor in the genesis. Saying that gunstar heroes wasn’t possible on the snes also in that interview. I didn’t see anything about that in the interview, but I’m sure more information has been released since 1993.
@@evo-genesis2088 Why did he think it was a pain to develop for the SNES? The SNES had a wider color pallet, had mode 7, and an orchestral sound chip. What else would there be for him to complain about?
I'd say Treasure was easily the top third party developer on Genesis. I wish they'd actually bothered to try and to do some properly amazing stuff on SNES too. Whatever excuses they made back it the day for not also trying to produce impressive games on SNES just don't pass the smell test imo. Given what a company like RARE and even an individual like Manfred Trenz was able to create on the SNES, I think that level of quality but with Treasure's unique style and approach could have produced some awesome results.
For sure. I agree they’re up there with ancient and Camelot. While still working at Konami a lot of the treasure staff worked on some of the best stuff at the time. The CEO did mention that programming for the snes was a pain in the butt. Someone here left a comment saying the didn’t really like konamis over reliance on the snes. They did have a couple great 64 games and astro boy on the gba is like an snes game.
These were all genesis games. Guardian heroes is for the Saturn. I do plan to do a follow up video. Treasure made games for the 64 and Saturn after the genesis.
Guardian Heroes came afterwards on Saturn. It definitely owes a lot to Treasure's Yu Yu Hakusho game for the jumping from the background to the foreground gameplay. Then there's Advance Guardian Heroes on GBA as well as Gunstar Super Heroes.
Gunstar Heroes was my brother's favorite game. He absolutely dominated at it. Got me hooked when we were kids.
So the first time I beat this game it was like 2012 I beat it with my son. When I was a kid I could never get passed the board game.
Dude, Curry was the most BS mini boss to deal with for the longest time
all of these look like games worth playing!! Great video!!
Treasure is the greatest of all time
I agree. I’ll do a follow up in the future. Still a lot of treasure games I want to talk about like sin and punishment
My favorite developer of all time! Nice video 👍

I see Gunstar Heroes, I press Like!
Thanks so much. I appreciate it
The best thing about Mcdonalds treasure land is the first enemy boss is a health food.. definitely an enemy for mcdonalds xD
lol I didn’t even think about that 😂
Got to say the first game I played from them was Mischief Makers. Loved it. Pretty much made me go and play more of their games.
Yea homie. I’m actually playing it right now. That’s the goal to play every treasure game and tell people about them. Thank you for watching.

It has a difficulty spike in the second dungeon. Once you get past that, it's an alright game. Wish Treasure experimented with more games like that.
I say yeah! Do the follow up video :)
Gunstar heroes is my favorite treasure game of all time.
Mine too. I played gunstar heroes a lot. I feel like contra hard corps was kind of like retaliation from Konami.
"My son and I" Yo, that kid is going to grow up with the best taste in Anime and Videogames.
My son is 21. He grew up with n64 games and a lot of anime. He knew most of the cameos in ready player one. Not bad for a gen z
New sub here, really enjoyed this video. Keep it up
Thanks so much. Next video will be out in a few days.
11:00 this is a reference to a famous Japanese Mega Drive debut commercial from 1988
Yes more treasure videos please. Gunstar Heroes and Alien Soldier are both excellent
Yea it’s in my queue of projects. Thank you for checking it out
I wish theyd make more games.

Alien soldier looks good to me... Cause its like dark gunstar heroes
It’s quite a bit harder than gunstar heroes. You have to dash constantly
im a simple man, i see yu yu hakusho on a screenshot for a video about video games on the genesis, i click...
Honestly I was excited to get to use it as a thumbnail. Yu yu hakusho is a yearly watch for me.
You should also check out Freedom Planet 1 and 2. It's a mix between Sonic, Megaman X and Gunstar heroes.
Yea sure. I’ve played a lot of games over the years. It’s always cool when someone tells me about something I’ve never heard of.
Yeah, The OST for these games is amazing too. Probably one of the best OSTs I've heard in modern recent made games.
I really wonder just how much overlap there is between Epsilon Eagle and Fox/Falco in Smash Bros.

They didn't like the snes cpu.
No.... Guardian....Heroes !

No mention of Chakan or Comix Zone? For shame!
Umm… treasure didn’t make those.
@@evo-genesis2088 You're right, my bad. Forgot that was the point of the video.
Ugh ..the writing on this is pretty bad... Saying a game "gets easier the more you play it" is rather redundant.
"this game has its fans..."
LoL!
Looking forward to the excellent writing you come up with.... if you ever make a video.

Boring video. waste of time
