    thank you for this video! I just bought an 89 s10 for my cousin and the clips seemed to have been dry rotted and snapped… This helps a lot and i plan to work on it this week!

    After watching this, I came up with a similar idea that actually worked out really well for installing my clips on my 85 S10. I grabbed my channel locks and electric taped a small nut on the inside of each side. This way they don't slide around and risk scratching or breaking the glass. Doing this made popping the clips together a breeze.

      Perfect! Next time I will tape it down! Excellent idea!

    What a PITA! I gotta do the same on my S-10. And door handles, too. Can’t wait! 🥸

    I know this video is a few years old but, LMC Trucks window kit has the felt in the tracks. I had to replace mine in my 88 and they defiantly have the felt in them!

      So far thats the only ones I've found. Still not totally sure of a brand though. Lmc ships all kinds of differnt stuff.

    Those aluminum parts are available at Lowe’s. Not sure what the official name is... I’ve heard them called “cable stays” and also heard them referred to as “staycons”.

    They are a nice obstacle when tinting for sure.

    Do not waste your time buying the Dorman clip. They don't last and can break during installation. They are hard to snap together. Use a c-clamp.
    Buy some silicone grease, long swabs & lube the metal track where the clips slide to prevent wear. You can use spray silicone but it doesn't last long. Sil-Glyde or Super Lube (Harbor Freight carries Super Lube).
    Clean and Lube your rubber door seals too while you're at it.
    You'll find lots of uses for the grease elsewhere, like spark plug boots, light bulb bases, o-rings, gas cap threads, anti-squeak, etc.
    Tip: Use silicone lube on washers to stick them to the window when reinstalling to the regulator arm.

    Best way is to use a c clamp quick and easy

    What is the name of that plastic piece you are talking about around 11:14??? Mine is missing the tabs that hold around the glass and catches on my door handle studs. I cannot find it online for the life of me

      @@HardCoreGarage Does it matter which way you orient the clips? As in which side of the glass gets the side of the clip with the hole as opposed to the finger part? My brand new clips are popping out of a brand new channel. Thank you for your respose!

    • @HardCoreGarage
      @HardCoreGarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Are they gm clips or aftermarket? Ive not had any gm clips with issues. Are the clips staying in the glass?

    • @TSWislaK
      @TSWislaK 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They are from LMC. They hold on the glass well, but pop out from the channel.

    • @HardCoreGarage
      @HardCoreGarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ive heard bad things constantly about the aftermarket clips. But maybe you've got something dragging in the run channels. Maybe try some dry lube.? If that doesn't work maybe replace with gm clips. When you replaced the glass rubber did you use your old metal guide?

  • @Joe_Blo
    @Joe_Blo 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The electric windows were not that fast when S10s were new. All Chevy windows were underpowered & unreliable back then.
    You have to clean & lube the rubber window track once a year. It is what it is.
