In today's video, I'll be taking the Monte Carlo SS out for its first thorough test drive since doing the Tuned Port Injection conversion. This project hasn't been without its difficulties, but it's come a long way that's for sure! I am stoked to see it at this point! That being said, I'll be taking a break from this build so I can re-focus on some of my other long term projects so I can start making some serious headway and finish some stuff in the next few months. I'll keep you all up to date on when to expect the next round of Monte Carlo content! Thanks for watching!

Monte Carlo SS rims are soooo underrated
Camaro IROC-Z rims have always gotten the love they deserve...but the SS rims are forgotten

This car desperately needs the straight tailpipes, slash cut under the rear bumper. They are one of the definitive hallmarks of the Monte Carlo SS. Those pipes that exit at the wheels just appear unfinished and they yell at you “incorrect!!” Just my .02, love the channel and this series.

Looks and sounds great. I like the idea of taking the car and just slightly improving it versus going crazy with mods. It has that spirited cruise factor to it.

This car takes me back to being a car loving teenager back in the 1980s. That exhaust note is killer! Well done, Kyle.

I always wanted a monte carlo and my birth year is 1985. So seeing yours makes me want one bad. My mom and step dad had a 1979 monte that was supposed to go to me but they split and my mom gave it to my sister as a wedding gift which my sister and her husband then trashed and wrecked. 😔 Anyway nice build. 😁👍🏼

Nice build. Most people would just slap a carb on a small block and be done with it. Hats off for the extra work. Also the stock look is nice. I have a 86 WS6 TA with TPI and 86 IROC both project cars. The TA has 305 TPI will put a 350 in and use the TPI, new chip.

Kyle should think about going to a bigger cam on this set up, like a 214/218 @ .050s, look for a tight lobe center for the 305 smaller valves, 108/110 lca. You could probably could go up to 220 with variable duration lifters. And maybe go up to a cylinder head upgrade as well.

As far as the intermittent Check Engine Light: me and my family have a little inside joke that GM's always fix themselves! Especially when it comes to little gremlins like that lol
Edit: i know youre a big Oreilly guy but i have had pretty shitty luck. A lot of them are made in China and are of very low quality. Especially things like alternators and starters...CarQuest and local parts stores seem to have a lot higher quality of parts. Might explain why your new starter failed so quickly
