Investigated for Spinning | F1000 Race 1 Oulton Park

- I span off track during the first race in my new F1000, headed straight towards the barrier! After the race I was summoned to race control to investigate spinning under a Code 60 flag (like a virtual safety car in F1).
I had to show evidence on my GoPro, which you will see in this video.
Otherwise a very fun race, with lots of action! Captured both front and rear cam onboards, plenty of lockups, overtakes and near crashes.

Sorry could you clarify what you mean by video right hand side? When I do the rear/front can split?

Smooth camera definitely makes it easier to watch and watch the race craft. I personally care a lot more about whats going on in the race and being able to see everything clearly than getting the raw speed feeling but everthing being shaky.

Is it possible for you to get a throttle and a brake trace graphic on screen? If so, it might be useful for your viewers to maybe see if there are any obvious improvements to be made?
I know nothing of the F1000 but I wondered if your throttle application was a little too aggressive?
Do you have iRacing? Is there a car on that service that you feel might be similar enough to practice not only the track (I know you do that) but also the car.
Anyway, I love your videos mate - look to setup a Patreon or something? Maybe you could add extra videos from the paddock and maybe some about the car, or even some tips and suggestions for people wanting to get into F1000 etc?

Definitely need new tyres! These were at least 3 weekends old.
Great idea on throttle/brake trace, would be much easier to get accurate feedback. I will look into this, thanks for the suggestion! Might be a combo of aggressive throttle application and dead tyres.
I use AC and practice with an F4, which is slightly slower but more aero. Tried iRacing but didn't get on with it, confused by all the purchases and available tracks. I'll take another look.

About £4K rental weekend or £20k for the car and £1.5k a weekend

hi, what do you use to video edit and add the overlays, looks good! need help to get mine looking better! plans for 2024?
I use iMovie for editing and the overlay is Telemetry Overlay software. There is a free version with a watermark or paid without. I’d recommend setting up a “pattern” which saves the layout each time, rather than having to re-do the overlays each time!
Hopefully competing in the full F1000 season and winning the Clubman category! Yourself?

Yeah that front facing camera needs to just go with the car, its awkward as hell to watch having the car move like that.
Plus if you make a move around the outside of someone the camera will be turning away.

Best track in the U.K! TSR. I’ve never had new tyres 😅 I think they’re £1k a set. They’re changing the manufacturer for next year though, from Avolon to Hoosiers apparently

how does the shifting work in these cars. i know that they are sequential but you dont have to use the clutch on up shifts? love the videos keep up the good racing
Correct, slightly lift the throttle for up shifts and clutch for downshifts. When I started I was fully lifting off the throttle, but you only need to lift a tiny bit. Also it doesn’t like it if you lift and then delay the shift, needs to be immediate
Not having the best rubber on your boots for a race, is like a footballer playing in their socks. Not the optimum preparation, and both could lead to seriously sore toes. The F1000 looks a nippy little bugger. A bit like a greyhound on an ice rink. Very fast until a sudden turn comes along, then the traction of a baby in diarrhoea.
You are a wordsmith, Steven! That’s very accurate. It’s very quick but quite forgiving to drive, which is why I’m usually better at saving them.
The previous owner of my car said he set it up super stiff, so it’s quick but a handful. Makes sense as I’ve span it twice now but haven’t span either of the other F1000 I rented!

When I was at Oulton Park the c60 was not going right the ones at the very front had the green flag later than the one by hand, and then took over the lead I think the safety car would be better than c60 It looks like it happen to you
That’s exactly what happened at the front of this race! Inconsistent green flag deployment after the C60 finished. Will post a video on that some time soon, have the leaders footage.
@@ChapmansCorner So i'm a marshal at Oulton. We don't use Code 60s normally. F1000 and the CSCC are the only ones that really use them. Due to lack of use, it can get a bit confusing for us marshals about what to do. We did have a handout on how to use them but we can't really know fully what to do until it actually happens

Yeah totally understand that, I’m a rookie but was told they aren’t used regularly. Hard to get it exactly right with radios and flags… it’s not F1!
