  • Getting middle school and high school students to actually talk AND listen to each other during classroom discussion is so important but also so difficult.
I created a concrete way to get kids talking (and listening!). This strategy for classroom discussions never fails!

On the spreadsheet where I took all of the notes, I make extra room at the bottom of every row, print them out, cut them into strips, and students glue them into their notebooks so they can refer back to them every time we have a discussion. It’s worked out so efficiently that I actually give them the feedback the next day! Let me know if that helps!

Hi Krista! When you give the students their feedback, are you printing our your notes and giving them the row with their name? Writing it on a sticky note? I love class discussions but giving students timely feedback is something I struggle with. Thanks!
