Did anyone see the video for Round 3 from Jomez? Paul and Nate were commentating and I think Paul gave Nate some constructive criticism about a few things. At one point, I caught Paul say it was stupid about something. Can't remember what it was. Maybe everyone felt entitled to have Nate as a guest.
Ricky's putting woes seemed at least partially due to him babying some inside the circle putts, which normally he never does. I suspect he had experienced one too many spit outs on the baskets and was trying to adjust.
I love you Johnny Disc Golf, but finishing a hole in disc golf can be supported by the chains or the basket. In my opinion, both chains and basket should be efficient for catching shots. With these chains being lighter than most baskets, I would love to see these chains on the Mach X. Might eliminate the weak putt rejections, but still catch greatly with the genius chain configuration of the Mach X.

Not every basket has to catch every putt. Got it. But if you hit dead center chains, then the basket should catch. These baskets are bad. Dude....Hole 7's putt from Ricky was super gross.
Yea Cody makes a good point about the chains not being heavy/thick enough. Ricky's putt mainly hit the right-of-center chain, which is the right aiming point (maybe just a tiny bit high). But the chain reacts off the disc instead of the opposite where the chain cushions the energy of the disc and slows it down. And indeed it did put the disc into the pole with too much speed so that it would spit out, despite it being a good putt. "Certainly, certain types of putts do spit out, and that's unfortunate"....yea....yea it is.
21:00 Now that's a garbage basket. Ricky hit that basket right in the center of the pole without a crazy amount of force. That should be in every time. Also the course designer inflating his ego in nearly every commentary is really annoying.
Seriously. This is the only major tournament final round I stopped watching after one hole. CCDG has the best commenter Ian, he makes watching any round really entertaining.
I think Nate Sexton is The best commentator, though Ian is good. Does Ian have to say the name of his co-commentator at the end of every other sentence?

Great to see some new coverage but Heinold is one of the worst commentators I've ever had to listen to...he thinks he's the god of course design and has to explain every little detail he thought through in this haphazard lookin' course. Muted aaaaaaand can't wait to hear Ian's sweet sweet voice again.
Ya know, I really like the TD commentary. But for each and every production? Feel it's taking away from the players and their game. Maybe a separate vid for just him, like a director's commentary. Kinda pissing me off.
If layout needs to be explained with hole stats 4 days straight, it's a bad layout. And if I see these baskets in any other tournament ever again, I'll just bypass it immediately. No matter who is filming. Just even watching those crappy training baskets makes me furious.

Much rather hear pros talk about the experience than the camera crew. On to the baskets - while they're crap baskets and don't catch the way baskets at other events do... Similar with par being "too low" or "too high" on a given hole... Everyone plays the same conditions. Whether the baskets are bad or not, they're out there for the whole field.. and the layout is out there for the whole field.. over the course of a 4 day tourney, everything even out to the guy playing the best winning, way more often than not. Anthon went OB like 1/10 as much as the next best guy... That's what he won by, the baskets didn't take the win away from anyone. Give it a rest and quit bitching about minutia that everyone has to deal with. It's not like Ricky and Paul were asked to play left handed or something...
After watching part 2...I'm a little more sensitive to the basket issues..... but I still think it's a condition that everyone played under, unfortunate as it is...
