How to change sublimation ink brands in a printer

  • With so many people wanting to switch to our dpiSub Premium Sublimation Ink without the expense of purchasing a new printer we decided it was time to develop a best practice method.
    The first part of the video shows a printer with a brand of ink known to have over saturated magenta images and blacks that come out brown instead of black. We basically mixed our ink 50/50 and show the result of each color mix one at a time.
    The second part demonstrates how to drain the ink from an Epson Eco-Tank printer and replace the ink. In the video we replaced the ink with regular Epson inkjet ink to be used for normal printing but it's the same process to replace the sublimation ink.

    FINALLY! A Quality guy who can explain everything in detail to be understood. I have probably watched 50 videos on this topic, and this is the only one that shows the process so that I feel comfortable performing this task. Thank you so much!

    I'm the one who asked about the red skin tones. I will be buying the dpi ink as soon as I can afford it. Thank you so much for the time and effort you put into answering our questions and solving our problems.

    I just bought a canon maxify gx3020 and thought the ink that came with it was ok to use for sublimation. I watched your video...very helpful but not sure this transfer will work for this printer? How do a refill the ink filler containers with your ink? This is all much more complicated than I anticipated. I love your clocks! Wow!

      The purpose of swapping it out is to get rid of trash ink and use our Premium ink.

      What brand of ink? Sounds like some ink or possibly ink and print head issues

    Hi. I bought an epson 8550 eco tank wide format printer and use silhouette studio. The ink I bought is cosmos and the reds are rust and I never could find a way to tweak it (no ICC profile for this program is available with this ink) where the colors are vibrant and true using this program. Apparently the program is the problem (?) but I bought the pro version and have a lot of files in it for other use and really want to use it if possible. My black is black, not brown (though a little faded right out of the gate) and red is not over saturated-it’s not a true red at all, more of a rust. No pink - just peach. Very disappointing, since red is my favorite color, and i put my brand new amazing machine away, defeated. It’s been sitting unused for over a year. It’s a wonderful huge machine my hubby went to great lengths to find. (it prints 11x17).
    Does your ink work well with the silhouette studio program?

    • @TroyTube
      @TroyTube  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's likely a combination of things, mostly the red pigment issue and sounds like colors are far out of balance. ICC profiles should only be really needed to ensure color accuracy, so if you make 100 keychains for a company and six months later they want more, you can ensure the accuracy of the colors across ink batches, etc. It's also matched to the paper. In normal printing if the colors are properly balanced the colors will be correct and photorealistic. This can't be really disputed because when you buy ANY regular inkjet printer, there are no adjustments required to produce accurate color prints across even different media types. The printer is going to print whatever it's given by the software such as Silhouette Studio, so the use of program doesn't factor in across printers. Hope that makes sense.

      Did you find a solution to the colors not printing properly? I have the same printer with the same ink and the same issues. I just started my sublimation journey and to have these results has me a bit disappointed.

      Not sure I understand your question. Any picture is going to print however it looks, so if it's a one-color picture it will print one color.

    How many fills can I get from your sublimation ink.

    • @TroyTube
      @TroyTube  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The same amount as pretty much every other ink except that our ink is designed with the correct viscosity for Epson printers which ultimately reduces waste, reduces chances for clogs that requires waste from cleanings, etc. There's a general rule of thumb that says a set of 140ml set of inks yields about 500 pages but pages printed depends on the amount of ink used per print the answer to that question is a moving target.

      @@TroyTube I'm new to sublimation and I bought a 250 ml bottles 6 months ago and I'm having trouble with the magenta so I'm taking it out and I need new ink but i don't know how many fills I would get out of a smaller bottle.

    • @TroyTube
      @TroyTube  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@MrShawnee1My apologies, I misread your question and thought you asked how many prints. Filling the tanks overall breaks down into two sizes. Most printers have either 4 smaller tanks or a larger black and three small ones for the colors. The smaller ones are 70ml and the larger tank is 140ml. For example, the ET-2800 has four small tanks and the ET-15000 has the larger black tank. If you google the model numbers you can see pictures of them.
