She's an amazing vocalist and they should have let her sing lead, if only to give bc a break. Bc was protective of her spot as front person/lead singer because she didn't play an instrument or write songs. I don't blame her for leaving.
@@lisamarie8700 they were going to this year but that fucking Covid bug stopped that. They are hoping to get back on the road next year. Maybe we’ll have another new song or two besides Club Zero!
Yeah, they were sort of under-appreciated too! (as far back as I can remember, being born in ‘86) While the majority of female teens & young women LOVED them at that time, the majority of male teens & young guys were more into the various hair/glam-metal bands that RULED the early-80s LA music scene around the same time … like Van Halen, Motley Crue, GNR, etc! (again, I’m talking about when it comes to early-80s LA rock music…) Looking back now: I can honestly say with a smile on my face that these ladies were a VERY talented group, and well-deserving of their recent HoF induction! ❤️🤘
I agree. I think in spite of their commercial success they were treated a bit like a novelty than actual novelties I’ve seen which is sad considering how truly authentic they are. Worked themselves from the ground up and wrote and played everything themselves. But glad they’re getting some redemption these days.
The Go Go's have reunited. Were supposed to tour till Covid-19 came along. Looks like the Go Go's will tour in 2021. They have a special on Showtime now.
This honestly sounds SO much better live! 🤩🤘The guitar, the bass, the drums … EVERYTHING about this live version sounds great! 👍👌👏 And Belinda’s unique vocals just echo throughout that whole auditorium! (Love her little high-heel dances too! 😁)
Is this the Go Go's at their best? ABSOLUTELY! Belinda hit every note and her voice was just incredible; it can't be duplicated and she sings this with such passion and energy to go along with that gorgeous face and body to die for, Gina slamming the drums like a mad woman possessed and didn't miss a beat and kept the flow of this song in rhythm as this isn't an easy song to harmonize as a band to; Charlotte strumming the opening notes set the stage for this incredible performance and she was a great lead guitarist up there with the best, Kathy nailing the bass on point to make the tune harmonize just perfect, and Jane nailing the background lyrics and chorus was melodious to hear her compliment a legend in Belinda Carlisle which is not easy to do! This may have been their all time best performance and definitely top 2! These girls worked to be the first all female band and no one since has ever duplicated them and never will! They wrote the lyrics, the music and performed their own songs...literally unheard of! Was there any question they were getting in the hall of fame once they appeared on the ballot? Well done girls! I listened when I was 10 and still listening today at 52 and God willing will listen when I'm 102 to the incredible harmonizing of the GO GO'S! ❤🔥🔥🔥
Off to college, played the GoGos, Lou Reed, Talking Heads, Devo, Run DMC, constantly. Crazy wild lovely memories... what a great time to be young and alive. Still loved Led Zeppelin. I was surrounded by amazing music!
Induct these talented musicians into the ROCK AND HALL OF FAME!! Only ALL Female Band, Only All Female Band to have #1 Album, Song writers, paved the the way for punk bands like "Greenday" Avril Levine & No Doubt. First & Only female band to have #1 Album!! 🎵❤ Nominate for Kennedy Center Honors!!
Way to hold it down Charlotte! You're a great rocker with the patience of a saint! Whew! (Quite the "slinky" tempo in the days before click-tracks.) ROKKON Char! \m/
I saw them twice, 2014 and 2016 on the "farewell" tour. We saw how that worked out, haha. Granted, Kathy wasn't with them, but those are still 2 of my favorite performances ever.
According to the new documentary this is their first big European tour opening for The Police. Sting and Miles Copeland said they were the best opening act ever. They had no money yet and if I understand correctly their first album hadn’t been released yet.
Vintage clothing. It was all about vintage clothes! The tailoring was so much better, the detail, material. I raided every vintage clothing store back then. Still have those gems.

Well I am a guy over the years who has developed an aversion to Chick Flicks I.e. relationship movies . That comment isn’t meant for the work of female artists like these talented young ladies . Who out there is not moved by this Masterpiece of a song from a Masterpiece of an Album ? The GOGos were a throwback to the girl groups of the early 60s and 50s particularly the Spector sponsored ones yet they were also a spring forward for female bands . The GOGos were great and are now definitely iconic .
Love the stones but if I’m gonna watch live, I’ll pass on gross Mick strutting over Belinda giving 100% singing and dancing in heels and a mini every time...
I usually listen to the 1980 demo of this song, and it's played a lot faster, but I have to admit, I really dig this slower paced version from time to time. Absolute legends
Saw them in concert then. First all female punk band. They admit that they had to soften their image/songs to have commercial appeal. Nonetheless, awesome, Classic, lyrics stand up all these years later
The camera people never got the memo that Kathy Valentine was in the band -- not one shot of her. They also thought Belinda's feet were more important than Charlotte Caffey's guitar lead. Can't say much for the sound guys either -- guess it's hard to get good help early in your career, or a good manager.
The sound? What are you talking about! This is live in a small arena and it's pretty raw and sounds incredible! You're just the type who needs attention and wants to play the part of the jerk who has ti discredit them wether it was the camera man or the stage hands! Get a life!
You stand corrected! Clear shot of Kathy Valentine at 1:38. Pay more attention! Further maybe you don't care for this live performance as sound is subjective but they sound great and this was played in a small arena! And I have no problem seeing Belinda over and over agin especially watching her feet rock out in those heels and the beefy she brought to her favorite song!
The one thing I've always wondered is why Rodney Bingenheimer for all he is credited with being a friend to punk felt the need to try and make every female rock band in the scene into a pop act. Well except Nina Hagen as she is what she is regardless of outside influence.
If you don't think the music is good why the heck are you here in the first place? This band is solid. When you grow up kid, you're going to have to choose.
Yeah, the same great song with the same old lyrics - "the way you move your lips, the way you swing your hips..." - or there aren't such words inhere?!
The song is in D-minor, a ghoulish orange hue. As per a funny film called "This is Spinal Tap," D minor is the "saddest of all keys. Makes people weep instantly." Explanation of "Lust to Love." Love songs are always in C (warmth, care, home and hearth. Red). C-minor subverts that love into Lust (like in the Fairy Godmother bar song in Shrek II: "Play me something in C-minor"). The song, therefore is not about a woman experiencing lust, but rather, the fear and horror that she allowed herself TO fall in love based on lust. Her horror is of the consequences that she knows are associated with un-requited love, of which she may have fallen for. D-minor. (Remember D major, as the inverse of D-minor, would be joy, as per Hayden's "Sunrise Symphony in D-major.") This proves that Jane Wilden, as the principal songwriter KNEW what she was writing about. A true composer.

Girl managed to make it through a show and night at the China Club wearing just a dress made out of a Hefty trash bag and about 30 lbs of cheap band pins. After that I'm sure she can manage a pair of shoes =)
I saw them in 1984 at Billy Bob's. Later that night there must have been 2,000 women that got pounded into the mattress by their boyfriends in a state of maniacal lust.
Jane’s harmonizing is so hypnotizing .. what range

Great song. Really enhanced by Gina's drumming and the background vocals esp. Jane.
Worlds best band . Uh ra from England.

Belinda Carlisle had a sense of style and kicked ass as front woman for this band. Not just her voice but her stage presence.
