  • Today I'm reviewing a classic graphic adventure game by LucasArts that deals with motorcycles, mechanics and murder. It's Full Throttle! I've teamed up with the Adventure Game Geek to give you two opinions for the price of one. We played the recent remastered version of the game, though do compare to the original.

    Thanks for having me on Pam! Always a pleasure talking about adventure games (even if I did spend half the time rabbiting on about bunnies!)

      No problem! You did really like those bunnies.

      Cannot be Tamed played this game on a emulator in 2018 a lot of fun to play 🙂

    I made so many legos inspired by Full Throttle. I built Ben's bike, hover cars, the saloon and dumpster, the gas tower... it was a big part of my childhood. I was so excited when the remaster was released.

    The soundtrack for this game is really cool. They could have done a movie based on this game

    Ben (reads) "Todd's Junkyard".
    Ben: "OPEN UP, TODD!"
    Ben: "Oh yeah, I knocked him out..."

    Man, so many great memories with this game, even though it could've done some things better. This and The Dig are probably my two favorite adventure games of all time.

    "THE BAR!!!"
    Most underrated Lucas Arts adventure.

    I recently got this on a psn sale. I haven’t played it since it came out in the mid-90s. I’m having a blast, I forgot how great it is! I want this game to be an animated series.

    The best LucasArts adventures are the zany & bizarre ones like Day of the Tentacles, Sam & Max Hit the Road, Grim Fandango, and the Monkey Island games. All the rest are pretty pedestrian -- still enjoyable, but not special. One good thing is that these "Special Editions" have the right balance of upgrading the graphics while still retaining the original graphical flavor.

    Great video, and thanks for putting Adventure Game Geek on my radar too.
    I'm fascinated by so many adventure games since I don't have the patience for them personally, and didn't grow up playing them - I just remember seeing them covered in PCGamer and whatnot so often back in the day, and so many looked cartoony or dark or bizarre. I'm always looking for TH-camrs that cover those classic point-n-clicks :)

    This review misses pointing out that this is post-apacolyptic and has the single, greatest post-apacolyptic country song of ALL time that plays on the radios that you happen to wander past. It fits the game thematic perfectly. Dark yet funny as heck.

    I made a Ben character in City of Heroes. I could summon a biker gang and had many of the skills shown in Full Throttle. I really miss CoH. The Korean publisher shut down the MMORPG instead of selling or lcensing it, despite AT LEAST 3 groups trying to buy the game in the USA, as it had a huge subscriber base in the US and Europe and was very active. Unfortunately, it did not do as well in Asia, so NCSoft stupidly killed everything. What added insult to injujury was that at interviews after the fact, an NCSoft spokesman claimed that they had considered selling the franchise, but no one was interested, so they just shut it down.

    I found an original PC copy of FT at a 2nd hand shop for 25cents a year ago. Sweet deal. Lucas Arts adventure games were my favorite. Sam and Max, Monkey Island Indian Jones, and even The Dig. I think growing up during the Lucas Arts golden years helped me develop abstract problem solving skills, which I still use frequently. Love your channel. Subbed

    Loved this game as a kid. I remember sneaking on to my dad's computer and playing leisure suit larry, then this game. Point and clicks will always have a special place for me even if they are for the most part long gone.

    Somehow I managed to figure out on my own when I was like 6 without a guide that you were supposed to hide in the shadow from police at tye gas tower (as well as the rest of the puzzles in that area).

    I had very nostalgia-tinted glasses when I played the remaster, but I found the keyboard/mouse controls for the motorcycle fights to be impossible and switched to a controller. I'm pretty sure I'd blocked out any memory of the demolition derby too. Woof. I still enjoyed it, but those two more action-oriented sequences didn't work very well. We might find Telltale's games a bit formulaic now, but games like this serve as good reminders of how hard it is to incorporate action into a point-and-click adventure game. Keep up the good work!

    • @Cannotbetamed1
      @Cannotbetamed1  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It is really difficult to incorporate action. Like, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade had fist fights which the controls were okay for but I found really difficult.

    While it might not be the BEST LucasArts point'n'click it is by far my favorite of the lot, i have many nostalgic hours of picking this up in a pack of LA games and playing this. I can't remember if I actually beat this game back then, but I have certainly beaten the remaster many times. BEN, don't leaver Marlene. Just retire or something! :-P Well, in my mind the roads go both ways so he can always visit. And start building up members for a new biker gang, if you know what I mean. ;-) Sigh, I am a sucker for happy endings and this one is a bit bitter sweet so I make my own epilogue. Sue me! :-D Anyway, one of the better remakes I agree Pam. I didn't have that much of an issue with the Mokey Island remake though, I THINK they went for a look more aking to MI3. Maybe?

    • @Cannotbetamed1
      @Cannotbetamed1  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I didn't love the art for the Monkey Island remake, but they put in the option to keep the pixel graphics, so I was cool with it.

    Ctrl + V
    When you come across a minigame in a Lucasarts adventure, skip them. Every time. You‘lll miss out on nothing. Nothing but a whole lot of frustration.

    • @Cannotbetamed1
      @Cannotbetamed1  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I didn't know skipping was an option.

    • @kduhtdkzrt
      @kduhtdkzrt 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cannot be Tamed Skipping is always an option. Teehee. Yeah, you can do that with most Lucasarts games, and when replaying the games in the past years I was glad for that option. Most minigames in their adventures are pretty much a puzzle themselves, if you don‘t know exactly what to do, they‘re just a nag.

    Again, I beg of you, as I did last time you reviewed a LucasArts game, REVIEW SAM & MAX HIT THE ROAD!! I'll even send you my fucking copy, if you still have a CD ROM player! (I don't, so it is of little use to me at this point.) Actually, my favorite part of that game was the instruction book because it introduced me to Steve Purcell's Sam & Max comics and got me to buy the "Surfin' the Highway trade paperback. Before Sam & Max I didn't even know what Stuckey's was! My life was a hollow lie.

    • @Cannotbetamed1
      @Cannotbetamed1  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't think Hit the Road has been put on GOG or Steam or anything has it? I don't really have any interest in making old games run on new computers. :(

    It seems that u play mostly on PC then PS/Xbox.. Why u never talk about Nintendo besides NES/SNES?.. It is just weird that a channel focused on retro video games has almost no Nintendo content.. Did u play N64, GC or Wii? Or u did not cuz nintendo doesn't know how make proper controllers according to u... Nintendo is the most important company of video games to date.. They saved video games from been forgotten in the 80'.

    • @Cannotbetamed1
      @Cannotbetamed1  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      More than half of my retro videos are about Nintendo games. So... not really sure of the point of this comment.
