Great video and information. I pulled relay out of my vehicle, gave it juice, and the fan turned on high speed while relay was on work bench. It was like my car parted the Mississippi river then decided to walk on the water to cross anyways.

Thaaaank you soooo much chief. You've helped me fix my car.. Exact same relay it turned out that pins 6 & 7 are not connecting in both relays after applying power..
I disassembled the relay and found burnt mark on a metal which made a big gap comparing to pins 3 & 5 that's why they wont connect.. So with a little pinching to tight the gap more and now relay is working great.
My issue was : one fan only runs in low speed and stops when high speed kicks
Thank you for the video once again 🌹 🌹 🌹 🌹

One important thing to note, if you want to use a multimeter to do continuity test in your home, make sure power is off. You can trace switch and outlet wires doing continuity test, but power must be off.

My radiator fan relay is clicking over and over really fast and my fans are on. Does that mean its bad? My radiator fan fuse blows every single time I drive it usually right as soon as I get home... got new radiator fans but I need to know if its my relay or the old fans to see if i can save my money

watch video, follow diagram on relay BUT if relay(s) are like the ones I oulled out to test, there are no numbers or writing on them at all. Cheap as5 foreign parts FiatChrysler uses ! I'm going to guess. Hope I don't mess up good relay,..Auto Zone lists them at $66= !! Maybe I should go to auto Zone and see how terminals are numbered on the part they have. Hmmm ?

I have a 07 Pontiac G5 2.2ltr vin-F. Its the same as a cobalt, Saturn ion...my cool fan 1 & 2 use a 0329 relay, THEY ARE BOTH 4 PIN RELAYS. The control or, (the one that just says COOL FAN), ITS A 5 PIN BUT, ITS MISSING & I EVEN CALLED THE DEALERSHIP & THEY SAY THAT THEY ONLY FIND 2 RELAYS FOR THE COOLING FAN THERE BOTH THE 0329 WHICH ARE 4 PIN RELAYS...THE CONTROL SICKET HAS 5 PINS...I HAVE TESTED IT BECAUSE, I realized that, when I ground the top left peg of the control relay socket, the fan comes on but, the 5th peg then receives power. One row, top rowhas 3 legs, & bottom leg has 2 lines. Most other of the relays are 4 pin except 1 or 2. I am at a loss & I do not know what relay to use? & SUMMER IS HERE! ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!!! THANK YOU!!! The cool fan 1 & 2 use relay 5510-0329...

This isn't always true. You can have complete continuity and it still can be bad. A good one reads 40-80 and he doesn't tell you in this video. If it's higher than 80 it's going bad and lower than 40 it's bad.

Ohm testing is not a foolproof test during working conditions because of heat or wear in the contacts and the possibility of intermittent failure. In other words, it works then it doesn't work. I swap a known good relay from same car if available, quick and easy. If you pull a part off a junk car, grab some relays and fuses and toss them in your tool box. No guarantee they are good, highly unlikely to be bad, but I have gotten bad parts from the parts store too.

    To prevent corrosion,
rust and or oxidation on, relay pins
    junction box holes, connection,
battery posts, wire or cable terminals
and junction box hole ,,, ''' apply /
add dap of silicon / dielectric grease .
Also, it will ease insertion & removal
of relays, fuses and any component
that has pins and or legs.

    • @boboala1
      @boboala1 4 ปีที่แล้ว

1 question, M Aar. For some reason I thought, in addition to doing all the things you listed above, that dielectric grease was supposed to enhance electrical connections & promote the flow of electric current. I recently bought a tube & applied it to the ignition switch in my new/used Ford Ranger truck. I had/have problems...but they were coincidental after I cleaned the grease off and read up on it. Turns out my 20-year-old Ranger thought (& still thinks - I haven't been able to drive it in 3+ months! Grrrr!) that somebody was stealing it, so it engaged the anti-theft system. Dash is dead/black with the word 'Theft' in red blinking when the key is inserted. ($75 per key for the dealer to re-program, reported by some...) Well, my question is/was: is there such an electrical grease that protects AND promotes current? Or...I'm afraid I'm way off base(!) TIA!
