My 07 gen 1 ran 146@ 9.58 ,with stretched, lowered, power commander 3,Laser shifter,Hindel exhaust 4 into 1, 60ft 1.7 s kills me but I take off somewhat safe,it was just for the sake of going into the 9s,I also have just purchased a 2000 12r a1 model have not run it yet,my 86 VMAX runs 11.00 @ 118 my 97 Honda 1100xx black bird also have not run it yet but will to see the times, going in the 9s is not as easy as one might think. Gr8 job.
Both bikes are really about equal. 20lbs heavier but with a little more hp than the first gen. I mean it really seems like a sales pitch to get you to buy the newer model. People hear more hp and think yeah it's faster. My 09 ZX14 Special Edition doesn't have ABS. But from 12 on up it does. My 09 has seen 197mph in a very short amount of time. Also it depends on the rider skills too. Total weight of the bike and rider with adequate torque play a major part too. Hp plays in at the top end if you have enough room before the finish line. I like both bikes.
gen 1 highly under-rated and in several respect deserves more praise than gen 2. There's hardly anyone on gen 2 zx14rs breaking 8s even when modded, let alone stock like gen 1's can be capable of ( th-cam.com/video/RUIMpucl76M/w-d-xo.html ) . Remove the secondary butterflies on a gen 1 and it'll easily be within a bees dick of a gen2 despite being 89cc smaller engine capacity; in fact with the slightly lesser weight of a gen 1 you'll often see it nudge ahead when paired up with a gen2 down the quarter mile. I think the gen1 deserves more praise than the gen2 for these reasons. Plus with added, clamped down emissions crap imposed on the world the gen1 doesn't have its balls squeezed as hard. Personally I think gen 1s also look meaner, especially with the headlight arrangement and side fairings... but to each their own in that respect.

The gen 1 14 had a great run, but the 14r did not fair well. I'm very inexperienced at the drag strip but I just ran a 5.95 @ 123 mph in the 1/8 on my 14r. Click on my name to watch my run.

Awesome! Love the Vids!
I did not expect that.
True...it was only rider ability. ZX14r much faster.

That’s what I ran in my 1989 FJ1200 when I raced 25 years ago

14r rider should hang his head in shame
