    I like the rig for what it is, although it's never going to be a top performer. Still, it looks fantastic on the trail. That is easily the best looking non-licensed body on the market. Thumbs up on a thorough review.

    A angle on the rear shocks actually helps with articulation but this rig has the angle wrong or backwards lol, if you angle the rear shocks towards the front they compress easier and you get more articulation, angled towards the back will fight itself and not articulate well like you said.

      I had my TRX4 Sport for hours and already had days worth of fun already on it. You will not be disappointed with the Sport, and the amount of upgrade and scale parts available is outstanding. I bought the chassis kit a few months ago because I liked the Sport so much. When I bought my Sport just after it was released, I didn’t hear a single bad thing about it. The only thing to look out for is that the steering servo is weak. That can be replaced though.

    Ideally, you want your shocks to travel on the same arc that your suspension travels on. Sometimes shock mounting positions are can be limited because of how much misalignment the shock eye can take before binding and limiting travel. Inboarding a shock can also allow you to use a shorter length shock than you would need if it was mounted in more of an upright position.

    • @IllusionSector
      @IllusionSector 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, Yung Aaaanie.
      Changes made to the kit (some old, some new) as of the time I bought mine include the following:
      1) The *driveshaft ends* no longer have those steel spiral bands. They have flat, solid, bronze/rusty looking bands. This supposedly fixes the issue of the driveshafts popping out but it looks hell of a lot less sexy to me.
      2) Earlier units would have *missing fasteners.* Depending on where you buy your kit now, this should no longer be an issue. I understand that Shawn Black (the guy in charge of fulfillment at CrossRC.US) goes through every kits to makes sure to include all of the screws before shipping.
      3) The *spiral cut gear pairs,* while still available for purchase separately, were discontinued almost immediately and replaced with straight cut gears after the first couple of production runs. (This is somewhat old news).
      4) With earlier units, the machined aluminum CVD housings in the flagship *C* edition would have *shock mounting holes with no threading.* (The screws would just run straight through). Mines are threaded as expected.
      Apart from these, I came across a couple of quality assurance issues, which I can get into if you'd like me to.

    the gearbox is pretty robust, it surprised me, but after several hard runs on very rough rocky terrain and quite a few hard hill tumbles it gave out. but i took it apart and saw that the 2 metal plates that hold the gearbox together were bent. i have taken it apart, then put the plates in a vice to flatten them and it is now smooth again, but i am not sure how long it will last now, im due out tommorow with it to see :)

  • @nextbestthingrc7446
    @nextbestthingrc7446 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Necessary upgrades:
    1) Link mounts on the skid plate bend too easy. Need Chassis Stiffener Kit (part CZR97400338)
    2) stock rear shock angles cause way too much pivot. Need the rear shock mount (part CZR97400348)
    I love my SG4c, it’s very detailed and fun to film.

      Let me star by saying that *I have no buyer's remorse and I love my Demon!*
      Still, while I do like to think that CrossRC is going though some growing pains on its way to greatness, if it's to get there, it can't drop the ball on quality assurance, which is the impression I got from my own kit. (Again, the following are not even engineering issues but manufacturing QA issues):
      I found as many as 3 issues with just the body cabin, which I had to request a replacement for, along with the hood. These were:
      1) The hole on the right side tap on the rear wall of the cabin was waaaay off and riding to close to the edge. It looked like it was drilled by a child, or an intoxicated or otherwise impaired adult. This not only looked botched, but also prevented a nerf bar screw from being threaded through straight.
      2) The glue holding the rear wall and the main part of the cabin had failed out of the box and the two parts were splitting at the bottom.
      3) There was a very visible warp to the cabin and a slight one to the hood as well, which prevented the hood from sitting straight. The left side was nice and flush but the right side was raised and stuck out like a soar thumb.
      Thankfully, their *customer support was outstanding* and they sent me replacements!
      Additional issues I found:
      1) As I mentioned, the hood had a slight but significant bend to it as well, which, when laid on the edge of a metal surface appliance (shoulder of a fridge, microwave, PC tower, etc.) so as to let the hinge taps hang and allow the bottom side to lay flat, the right front magnet would not make contact with the surface.
      2) The depth of the cut on the double-sided 3M adhesive sheet provided for the attachment of the metal plates to the rear bed was not uniform and didn't go all the way through in most areas, which suggests that they carried on operating with a dulling dye blade. Because of this, when trying to detach the shape to apply it to the part, the actual adhesive was very dicie about whether it wanted to remain on the peeled side (with the 3M logos) or the bottom side. This made application a pain and, in parts, impossible. I'm having to buy an additional 3M sheet and manually cut out the shapes myself.
      3) This one's a minor gripe, but the tip of the shock oil bottle cap had broken off in the box during shipment and the oil had spilled into the box and the manual.
      This last one is not a QA or engineering issue, but, speaking of shock oil, the one supplied in the kit, and, by implication, recommended for the vehicle by the manufacturer, is 50wt, However, from what I hear, the optimal shock oil for this truck is 30wt.

    It's a Premium priced Rig, but it has some bargain basement issues...
    Rear Springs are a non issue though. ALL that slop is! And if the Winch is THAT bad - they should have given you a Dummy one.
    I actually don't like the very limited and difficult to access Battery Tray. That's something not easily fixed.
