- Bill Simmons took his legacy as ESPN’s ‘Sports Guy’ to the next level by launching Grantland.com. As fans of Simmons' work, Powerhouse Animation was excited to partner with the Grantland team on their newest venture-the B.S. Report’s Animated Archives. We can’t say enough about how much we’ve loved working with David Jacoby and the rest of the Grantland’ers on this project and we really hope you enjoy the fruits of our collaboration.
We are big fans of Bill Simmons and we were excited about Grantland, so when ESPN called and asked us to help concept design and create a new series of web animated shorts for the site, we were thrilled. David Jacoby, producer at Grantland, wanted each of the Animated Archives & Jalen Rose Story Time pieces to have a unique and different art style. This has been a lot of fun for our character designers and animators to explore different animation techniques and concept design styles. It has also been great to animate stories told by some amazing guests including Arnold Schwartznegger, Jeff Ross, and Jalen Rose.
Powerhouse Animation created several styles and concepts for each of the spots, here are some of the examples.

Jalen Rose is a GIFTED story teller. Please make a movie like the pursuit of happiness with you narrating the story of your life. By the way, you don't need a big budget lol.
Fun fact: Jalen carries that bat in case one day Ewing comes back for his TV-VCR combo.

In the game where this story takes place Jalen got ejected with 4:11 in the game with his team losing 83-97. He had 27 points, 5 rebounds, 0 assists and was -14 in plus/minus. This is the only game where Rose's Pacers played Jordan's Wizards in Washington so I'm positive I have the right game in mind. Rose's account of the game is greatly exaggerated. The Wizards went on to win 109-89 with Jordan scoring 23 points on 11/19 shooting with 5 rebs and 6 assists and a +17 rating. Even 40 year old Jordan owned Jalen Rose.

I had this issue when I was younger, I didn't know there were actually two different Washington's. Why do you think the wizards are in the eastern conference? The Washington you are thinking of is the state of Washington located on the upper west coast whereas the Wizards are located in Washington, D.C. which is a city in the District of Columbia. Which makes sense when you think about it because you never see the actual State in the team name its always the city. Therefore the location of Washington is correct. Once again don't trip I didn't know for a long time either.
Oh shhinapps I understand the fruit of the confusion now can't believe I didn't see that to begin with. I thought the Redskins were in Washington state until I was like 20 so yeah I'm sure we're not alone in this.
