      Yeah, so sad how soft the league has got. Some of the most exciting games to watch was when two guys went at each other. Man, it's nothing like those battles. Today if you even look at a player wrong you are on the bench or kicked out and fined...game is so pussy these days.

    This is real basketball, these battles made me a basketball fan. I was a Laker fan but I was born in 1983 so when it was the showtime Lakers I was very young I started watching basketball when I was 9 years old so I remember all these games between the Suns and the Bulls, Jazz vs Bulls, Bulls vs The knicks, and then the Jazz vs Lakers all on (NBA on NBC). That's when I loved the NBA, I was a die hard Lakers fan when it was tough to watch before the Kobe and Shaq era and after the Show time Lakers.

    Barkley wasn't the greatest player to ever play though he was definitely in the top 20-25 but there probably wasn't anybody who enjoyed having fun in pressure situations more than him. He wore greatness more loosely than any other player of his stature. He was a franchise Hall of Fame player who had the personality of the colorful sub at the end of the bench.

      Pippen could not guard Grant Hill. Pippen along with Michael are two of the top 10 defenders of all time, however, Grant Hill who is a similar player like Pippen would run circles around him. It's on video and NBA players comment on it whenever they talk about the one person Scottie couldn't guard. Jordan would have to guard Grant and he wasn't having a good day when he was put on him, although he did a whole lot better than Scottie. Jordan could force Grant to pass the ball, Scottie could not. Grant would take Scottie every chance he got!

    Barkely should have won it all that year, to culminate a terrific MVP year. That was a really good Phoenix team, KJ, Barkely, Marley, some decent supporting players around them. The problem with them was that as a team they were small no true center and their PF was 6' 4 compared to Horace Grant 6' 10 and ofcourse they had Cartwright at center over 7 feet. This is why they lost IMO. And the play of Jordan ofcourse, but I think if Phoenix had a true big man, they would have won. Too bad for Barkely who didn't get a championship, otherwise a great Career. As for Pippen a top 50 player in his own right and underrated because he played alongside Jordan. He proved he can take the Bulls far without Jordan, just not far enough to win it all by himself but Jordan without Pippen, wasn't able to do jack.

    • @MrBrunoGI
      @MrBrunoGI 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sir Charles didn't average that high, but he did have games that were comparable that year, and he didn't have to score that high to win, KJ put up some good numbers too. I still maintain that team was too small.

      +Turk420 Huh?? MJ retired for the first time after this Finals. The Bulls already won 2 years in a roll before this. The NBA did fine with the emergence of Shaq, Olajuwon, Pippen, and others when Jordan first retired in 1993.

    @RRRRRRRRR33 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    There's a undeniable top 3 in the 90's, Jordan, Olajuwon and Malone. All the rest was debatable, but for me, Pippen is the forth best player of the 90's. Hell, he can be considered even the third best over Malone. The consistency, the crazy video game numbers he averaged playing without Jordan, he never missed a playoff spot in his entire career. I believe he only missed once, 15+ years of constant success. The guy is a true champion, similar to players like Horry and Kerr. But unlike those guys, he had elite talent. That what makes him the most underrated player of all times.

    • @RRRRRRRRR33
      @RRRRRRRRR33 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +therealist811 Both in their prime, I would bet all my money on Karl, no question. He was a true monster basically his entire career and, as you said, Barkley have his best years in his early career, then he became basically a liability on the floor. Pippen himself was able to shut down prime Charles with relative ease sometimes. People overestimate Barkley too much in my opinion. Some even dare to say that he stands out because he won an MVP in a year that Jordan was playing. This means basically nothing, lol Rose won his MVP in a year where LeBron was playing, so what? That makes that particular MVP "better" than the others? Barkley for me was the Allen Iverson of the 90's, charismatic and exciting to watch, incredible early career and... That's it. These things alone don't make a legendary player.

    • @titanhovey

      Right, but I'm more so making the point that players can get caught up in the emotional/psychological aspects of the game, and in this case, the Bull's best player didn't even have to be burdened by the psychological hurdles from the Sun's best player. In other words, if Barkley's boys couldn't beat Pippen's boys, how the hell could they beat Jordan's boys? Hope I'm making sense there.

    • @jp3813
      @jp3813 9 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Pippen was simply standing up for himself. Back in the late 80's, he was always picked on by the likes of Rodman and even Oakley when they were teammates (there's a video of Oakley "jokingly" slapping rookie Pippen around). Hell, there's even a highlight of Jordan getting in Xavier McDaniel's face b/c the latter had been bullying Pippen in Game 7 of the 1992 playoffs. As a Chicagoan during the 80's & 90's, I know for a fact that Pippen was never known as the type of player who would do what you just described. One video of him trash talking doesn't mean he consistently did it. On the contrary, MJ actually preferred to get into psychological battles w/ other elite players (including Charles) as it tended to heighten his performance.

    • @purplemonkeydishwasher4241
      @purplemonkeydishwasher4241 8 ปีที่แล้ว +25

      +Nova Knowself Jesus christ dude barkley was not 6'3". Every time someone talks about Barkley he gets shorter. Barkley was 6'4" 3/4 barefoot, so he was about 6'5" barefoot and 6'6" in shoes. He's almost exactly the same height as Kobe and Jordan, two other guys who are about 6'4" 3/4 barefoot,

    • @TheMaddBlackMann
      @TheMaddBlackMann 8 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      PurpleMonkeyDishwasher So you argue he was 6'4 instead of 6'3? Big difference. Barkley was not as tall as Jordan 6'6 or Kobe 6'7. And just think about that. Dangelo Russell is taller than Barkley and he dominated at PF for over a decade of 20 plus 10 plus doing everything on the court. This may never happen again

    • @purplemonkeydishwasher4241
      @purplemonkeydishwasher4241 8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      +Nova Knowself Dude Barkley Kobe and Jordan are all the exact same height. I'm not arguing that Barkley is 6'4" instead of 6'3", I'm telling you that Barkley is just under 6'5" barefoot, nowhere near 6'3". Kobe is also nowhere near 6'7". He was listed at that height early in his career but that's the same as Ben Wallace being listed at 6'9" or Michael Beasley being listed at 6'10", They're not accurate heights and everyone knows this. There are tons of photos of Jordan and Kobe or Kobe and Barkley or Jordan and Barkley. They were all the same height.

    • @purplemonkeydishwasher4241
      @purplemonkeydishwasher4241 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nova Knowself Also, Deangelo Russell is in no way taller than Barkley. Russell was measured 6'3" 1/2 at the combine. Barkley is 6'4" 3/4. Barkley is an inch and a half taller.

      @TheMaddBlackMann 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Justin Matthews so tell me exactly how jordan "made" pippen. pippen is a beast all by himself. he's a monster with or without jordan. jordan completed the bulls dynasty but to say jordan "made" pippen is so fuckin disrespectful to pippen and his contributions to the dynasty.

    • @jaymatthews1655
      @jaymatthews1655 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      MachineGunMouth Didn't even wanna answer my question that's how I know you don't know anything. If you actually read what I said I that Jordan made Pippen to what he was, not that he was ever good. So stop crying and hop off of him, I didn't even come at him like that and Pippen fed off of Jordan who knew how to get open, so whenever they would double team Jordan he'd always be available to knock it down. So without him Pippen would probably be another... Clyde Drexler.

    • @MachineGunMouth
      @MachineGunMouth 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Justin Matthews you need to hop off jordan because they fed off each other. everyone knows jordan is the greatest, i'm not taking anything from him but saying jordan made pippen is taking a lot from scottie. on your response you really said absolutely nothing. if barkley and pippen swapped then of course they'd still be a hell of a squad. but pippen would still be a beast regardless...
