      It’s a very corrupt industry. The hospitals with the best ratings are just the ones that are good at hiding their flaws. If the physician makes an error then the nurse gets in trouble for not catching it. When there’s a death and then an autopsy, a common explanation is “inconclusive results”.

    The apology is not enough for her to take him back. She was humiliated, discredited and never given a chance. I think the previous action of the doctor says a lot about his character. I wouldn't want to somebody like as a boyfriend when the going gets tough.

    • @cmm5542
      @cmm5542 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      I always see comments on these movies saying the apology isn't enough to take somebody back, and I think, What would be? No one is ever going to find someone who doesn't make natural human mistakes; even if not the exact same one in the movie, something just as bad. All people are sometimes selfish, or cowardly, or most often just plain stupid like Luke was. He didn't have a clue what was really going on. That was an error in judgement, not unforgivable. If people were to break things off every time the other person messed up, there would be no lasting relationships. And you can't set the bar on 'how bad' one can or can't forgive things; if you love someone you will always be able to forgive them. If you can't forgive them, it was never love.

      @@cmm5542 But she didn’t even know him, at that time he was nothing to her. I wouldn’t want someone who was so besotted with someone he met in an elevator that he couldn’t see that same goodness in someone standing right in front of him. I found it a stupid film and would never want to be with anyone like him. I’ve been with my husband for 35 years and we have a great relationship, I don’t rely on him for my happiness, nor him me, and we both have all the freedom we want. He’s a great person and I know I’m very lucky to have him. So it is possible to find someone who’s a perfect fit for you, you don’t have to settle for just anyone in the fear that they’ll be the best you’ll find. I would rather not have anyone than be with a twat like him.

    • @cmm5542
      @cmm5542 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@Violetta1912 Well, I guess when you've been happily married 35 years mere fiction can't possibly compare. Congratulations; you and your husband are very fortunate to have that.
      I guess when you have no one in you life and no prospects of it ever happening, even 'silly' TV romances are better than nothing. If I were Luke and got one chance in an elevator, I definitely would not expect another opportunity to pop up at work. I'd probably be focused on the first option too, cause in real life you're not likely to meet more than one great person for you, if that many.

I would never give a second chance to a guy who would place the opinions of people he hardly knows over a person he got to spend a significant amount of time with and got to know well. This is ridiculous. Plus the fact that he’s an artist in his spare time but can’t even recognize the face of the girl who impressed him in the elevator????? Like really????? This whole premise is ridiculous. They could have done something so much more intelligent with this. Cast did a good job though.

That really is terrible because I'm sure you have a lot to offer your patients, and for it to be so prominent to drive you away is simply inexcusable. I would hope people could cultivate a sense of decency, rather than them being so insensitive and harmful.

      Not just in the nursing field, it's everywhere. I encountered several in my field (teaching), these mean women are just insecure and always needs their egos soothed (which I'm not up for). The best thing to do from my experience is to completely ignore them. One tried to ruin my day everyday but I just went ahead and worked like she didn't exist and ohhh the anger that eventually exploded from her during the staff meeting, just made her look foolish and I threatened to leave my job but my bosses pleaded me to not leave. I warned the higher ups though of what's going on twice and if they don't do anything about it, I'm gone. One time she almost hit my face with the door when she saw me right there! I threatened my bosses I'd sue her if she doesn't leave me alone. In the end they moved her to another area. What a psycho bully. I call her a young Amber H!

    Can't believe he couldn't recognize her after spending a good half to an hour with her locked in the lift playing games together. But the story came together as the plot thickens and finally gels as it unraveled and unfolded to reveal who she is to the desperate Luke searching for her. The movie grew and closes extremely strong and well as they found each other and love with the help of the excellent patients who threw their weight around her despite her unfortunate dismissal. This is a go to movie to show that despite hardships and ruthless colleagues in the workplace and whatnot, it is still possible to achieve real and true love through being honest, hardworking and sincere. An engaging and excellent movie about love.

      Guys - he never SAW her! It was dark! And in an elevator their voices would be echoing, so he couldn't possibly recognize that either. The whole scene when they get out of the elevator is them trying and failing to get a good look at the other so as to remember them, which they don't get the chance to do. Claire would not have recognized Luke either if she hadn't seen that his boss was one of the other doctors.

    It's strange how the doctor didn't give Claire a chance and then was the one confusing her with advances and then didn't stand up for her when she had obviously proven her worth. He didn't even ask the other nurses to shut it and dicuss later as they were creating a scene. So, not professional or good enough as a doctor to identify signs of the illness. I think Claire can do so so so much better.

    On the minute 1.08.08 I can say clearly that dr. Luke doesn't deserve Claire. How could he not say anything to stop the evil senior from slandering Claire after many days he spent with her. He should already know himself better what kind of nurse Claire is. And what kind of person she is. Oh god he is so dense.

      I think they both made mistakes at that point, which is what makes the movie realistic and the characters so right for each other - in my personal opinion of course. As the friend told Claire later, she should not have just let the nurse tell lies about her. Claire could have punched her in the face and told the whole crowd the truth about what a bully she was; in fact she could have had her investigated for bullying long before. Remaining quiet when people accuse you or stammering excuses, while completely a natural human reaction and I am in no way putting any blame on Claire, does often LOOK like guilt. Luke had been hit on by other nurses at the hospital. He had also probably been wondering, like many a sensitive man, why such a perfect girl as Claire would be interested in him. This was a logical explanation: she really wasn't interested in him. Of course Luke should have known Claire was truly interested, but he was afraid of looking arrogant by presuming that she did. The nurse knew just what she was doing in giving a reason that would play to his lack of self-esteem, which is where I would say both Luke and Claire had to grow. Luke needed to trust his own convictions over what others told him; Claire needed to recognize that she was too good to let herself be mistreated. Their love for each other and understanding and forgiveness on Claire's part helped them both grow as they needed to, I felt.

      @@cmm5542 I can relate to part that Claire was keep silent. Because I am in that situation now. In my workplace someone who close to the boss despite she does her work properly or not is the one who always in favor. And sadly she is someone who was roaming around in the office searching other people weakness. No matter how many times I told my boss in a meeting how she worked, he never listened. They only glanced at each other and dismissed my report. And I just couldn't quit this workplace.

      @@05months I am so sorry you are having to deal with that! Isn't there any policy procedure in your workplace you could appeal to? It isn't right for them to show false favouritism like that.
      I guess for Claire I felt she didn't know for certain no one would listen to her side; in spite of her friends telling her to try speaking to the higher-ups. Dr Frederic was almost criminally unobservant of what had been going on under his very nose for so long, but when the patients pointed out the facts to them he believed the truth and both he and Luke tried to make it up to Claire. Sounds like your colleagues won't acknowledge the truth even when you tell them straight; so right, in that situation there's no point to saying anything. I hope things turn around for you some other way, though; maybe somebody new will come in or there will be a reorganisation that changes operations so they have to give credit based on output rather then favoritism?
      I'm not sure how to deal with your problem colleague in the meantime. I've been so fortunate as to never have been bullied outright at work, but I have had managers that weren't very nice and/or demanded more from me than they had a right to expect. I usually went for being coldly polite and ignored them when possible, trying to hint they should feel guilty without having to say it. If I couldn't finish something by the end of my shift and I had something important on; I just left. Usually I would stay late without complaining, so if they tried to make an issue of one time they couldn't make it stick. I usually prepared a response in case it was brought up the next day, but they usually didn't dare risk complaining too often or I might have quit (did pretty soon anyway). Sounds like your situation is a lot worse though; not sure any of this is helpful. I hope somehow things get better for you though.
