    What's the transmission oil shoulf be used in hot areas

    I change my oil from a case 780 backhoe, shuttle shift 2 speed last year and it hasn't been the same since. There was no metal particles that I could see and 3/4 of a bucket of oil came out and I filled it with almost the same amount after checking level. It would take a long time to engage and now it won't engage forward or reverse. This week I drained the oil again and it was frothy and dark grey, no metal particles that I could see. Only 2 gallons came out and I am stumped as to why this happened. I did not fill it yet because I don't want to waste the Hitrans oil I have until I find out what is going on. Any thoughts.

      It sounds like a low fluid level issue. I would look it up to be sure but I believe that takes around 5 gallons. The frothy could indicate low fluid level causing aeration, of course there is other variables or causes. I would definitely be looking for any leaks, the fluid is going somewhere and to diagnose it you need to find out where.

    Thank you for you video I,CASE BACKHOE 580l The transmission is leaking oil, how do I fix it?

    • @paulsequipmentrepair823
      @paulsequipmentrepair823  ปีที่แล้ว

      It depends where the leak is. It could be a line or a seal. You would need to find out exactly where it is leaking.

    I was hoping to see the oil fill and oil level screw if it has one
    How often should the fluid be changed
    Thanks

      The backhoe has a transmission fluid level dipstick. I believe Case specifies every 1000 hrs. Depending on how much pushing and driving you are doing you may want to change it more often. Make sure to inspect and clean your suction screen when you change fluid as well.

      Do you fill it threw the dip stick hole?

    If it won’t climb a slight incline in 2nd gear I doubt you’d move any earth with it.

    I live in Poland and have a 1997 Case 580 SLE. I want to change the transmission fluid. I am having trouble finding the original case fluid. All that I can find on the internet is Case HY-Trans fluid. This is not Dexron but something different. Can you tell me exactly what this fluid is? The agro stores here all have Hy Trans fluid but I want to make sure that I get the same fluid. Thanks

    • @paulsequipmentrepair823
      @paulsequipmentrepair823  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hytran should be the correct fluid for that machine. I will have to double check with the service manual though. Thanks

      How old is your 580? Is it a L, M,N, etc.? Depending on your model I would check the electrical circuit from the FNR lever to the solenoid. Fluid level or filter condition would likely not affect only one function.

  • @williamreese2477
    @williamreese2477 ปีที่แล้ว

    You didn't clean the vent on top of Trans. That's why it has rusty fluid from condensation and lack of service

    • @paulsequipmentrepair823
      @paulsequipmentrepair823  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It definitely has a lack of maintenance. It was missing the dipstick until I talked him into replacing. The oil is full of clutch material.

      @@paulsequipmentrepair823 what happened after? Definitely needs a transmission rebuild and if he’s lax about transmission oil he probably did the same with the brake and hydraulic oil

      @@paulsequipmentrepair823 I strongly suspect the transmission charge pump has failed, fwd/rev clutches are almost certainly smoked as well.

    • @yopage
      @yopage ปีที่แล้ว

      My 1981 case 580c is doing the same. When I get on it hard to push dirt the trans stops letting it go forward or backward, I changed the fluid from the little oil pan, and cleaned the permanent filter in the oil pan. It worked for a while, stopped again after I pushed hard. But there is a fluid plug on the torque converter that you have to line up in a little hole to get to. Whats worse, I can't find a wrench to fit it correctly. If I'm lining up the right plug in the open, it's only 1/2, seems small for a fluid plug.

    You sound really unsure of yourself, so that’s probably why they didn’t let you do the transmission. Gotta know what you’re talking about then your customers have faith in you.

    • @paulsequipmentrepair823
      @paulsequipmentrepair823  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Unsure of myself? I am not sure what you're talking about. I went straight to the problem and diagnosed it, and informed the customer. If I didn't know what I was talking about, I wouldn't still be in business and in high demand. You're pretty sure of yourself sitting behind a keyboard and trolling, but I am sure you're not good at anything else.

    I'm surprised the owner didn't change the fluid and filter on his own before calling out a very expensive road mechanic. It looks like there was massive water intrusion into the case. Other than a missing dipstick or something; how would it get in there?

    • @paulsequipmentrepair823
      @paulsequipmentrepair823  ปีที่แล้ว

      He called me because a lot of owners and operators don't know how to maintain their equipment. I try to show my customers, buy some would rather have me do it.
