I think unison and the RCN have let them down. There are so many more benefits to living in Scotland despite them having no borrowing powers and having to budget from a grant. They prioritise the majority of people over just the rich. The Tory media have brainwashed most of England against the Scottish government but they have actually done a lot for the Scottish people. Free university, free buses, free dentists for all under 26, fairer disability benefits, free childcare, land reform, opened up the land for wild camping, which is rare anywhere in the world. I know the GRA bill has lost them some support but people should actually look at what impacts their lives and what they could lose without the SNP.

And I was instructed by senior union officials,to submit the five percent offer to my members, I'm afraid I would have no option but to stand down, from my position as a union representative? this is bollocks. I am a top band 6 senior Nurse in Mental health and my one off sum which is just a one off will be 800 before tax. I work 48 hours a week or more and I will be taxed more. Pay has been cut for Nurses every year for the last 13 years with 1% for 5 years and well under inflation for the rest of the 13 years. My mileage claim for the last 6 months amounting to approx 700 has been refused by the private firm handling mileage reimbursement. so I've lost 1400 a year there plus wear and maintainance of my vehicle
The Nurses deserve better union leaders, who sincerely acts in their best interests. 5% is in fact a pay cut. It’s quite disgraceful of the union leaders to even formally consider such a measly pay offer. Both nurses and junior doctors need to realise that their skills are much valued elsewhere, other countries such as: Canada, Australia etc. are all vying for such skills - which are undoubted reflected in their salaries.

Nurses at band 5 and firefighters earn about the same wage. Average band 5 nurse salaries are start at £27,055 for newly qualified and for firefighters its £27,311. Police are paid £21,402 average when they start. Everyone should be paid more for what they do.

It could be because they do a lot more good than most people? When your mum or Gran gets sick it’s nurses who take care of her in hospital and they work extremely difficult hours long and unsociable in an understaffed environment in a job which is very emotionally and mentally demanding. Maybe realise that the nurses aren’t the problem but it’s the governments failure of controlling the cost of living crisis- pointing fingers at each other only benefits those in power. Also like I’ve said the cost of living crisis really needs to actually be dealt with by this government but there’s no way an hourly wage at Prêt a Manger should be more than a junior doctors. A huge amount of U.K. health graduates do not want to work in the NHS and there’s no question understaffing and underpaying are a massive role. Those immigrants everyone seems to hate so much are what’s keeping the NHS alive- most people who’ve had the fortune of growing up in the U.K. see they’d have it better elsewhere while immigrants from developing countries are happy to take a life better than they’d have had.

Minimum wage employees have been given 10% from £9.50 to £10.42 per hour, so 10% for everyone else should be the deal too.

Minimum wage employees have just got 10%, so that should be a precedent for everyone else- 5% is an insult for skilled workers.
My mate at Ford just got offered 18% and he asked them for more…and they’re thinking about it!
