This makes me have a new found respect for Egusi soup...thank you Ma for sharing this because all these years I’ve been eating it, I never really knew how it came about. I do remember peeling the dry melon seeds when I was younger and growing up in Nigeria

It looks like watermelon, fermentation made it so easy to wash. The end result is so clean. Thanks Ma for sharing

Wow! Ma'am, this just made me remember how I use to follow my mom to the farm. We will gather and cover with grass and and come back when it's soft to be removed easily and we will use silver shifters to wash them in a river then carry them home and dry them. Thank you so much ma'am

Thank you. Those seeds are so pure! Here in UK 🇬🇧 we find pumpkin seeds though they are the pumpkins with orange flesh grown in Europe & US the seeds are sometimes green. Sold in health food shops as they have the same nutritional value as egusi. So sometimes I blend both egusi and green pumpkin seeds for my egusi recipe.

our people leave melon to ferment but and we never eat the fruit we could cut out the part with the seeds in a basin to ferment and eat the other one
