This game aged well because it's set hundreds of years in the future. A lot of these 90s games made the mistake of setting every future topic in the 2020s.
If there's one series that deserves a remake it's the Journeyman Project. The first was good, but I feel the series really hit its stride with the inclusion of AI buddy, Arthur in JP 2 and 3. These were both incredible experiences. A remake in the Unreal engine would be phenomenal. With the advances provided by the 3D engine, you wouldn't be limited to such a small view window.

I was playing this as a very young teen, and got stuck hopelessly at the Krynn embassy, I had no idea (and was probably too naïve to think of it) I could use the sword that was at the end!!!! I was never able to figure out what happened as I couldnt remember the name of the game as I got older. I cant thank you enough for this video, an insane mix of emotions as I re-watched scenes I first encountered over 25 years ago. You are a star! 😎👍
One wild detail that jumped out to me in this game is how Michelle (Agent 3) got assigned four missions that were all related to war and conflict, with her most uplifting assignment being the Appomattox Courthouse one where she saw the US Civil War end. What are the ethical considerations to sending someone to witness the horrors of Hiroshima or Auschwitz when they are absolutely barred from doing anything about those tragedies? Like, dang, someone dropped the gravball on that one.
To be fair, Time has a tendency to dilute the horrors of the past, and it is very different to read of it then to ACTUALLY experience it in person. Agent 3's story is truly a tragic one of well meaning intentions, and if it were gage assigned to it we might well have had 3 be the good guy in the story, it's never so simple.
I got my first cd copy in 2013, coinciding with a broken leg. It was frustrating to no end waiting to be able to use crutches before I could use it. But once I did and fired up my Win98 Virtual PC, that opening credits scene made all that waiting worth it.
This is still my favorite single player game of all time. I've played all 3 many times. What I wouldn't give to mind wipe my memory of this game to play it all over again. Other than myst, do you know any games like it?
The Tex Murphy series (from Under a Killing Moon onwards) is 1st person FMV adventure game gold. Solid writing, decent acting, a mix of classic-style puzzles. Definitely worth a play. Less of a fantastical sci-fi story though, more of a futuristic film-noir vibe.
I loved Timelapse and Shivers back when I was a kid. Neither really hold up, but if you want to chase those nostalgia vibes, these would be the ones to focus on.
This game is very strange to me. I know it's a point and click adventure game, I'm very familiar what they're like. The story of this game being a time travel conspiracy is really cool. However my issue is the "adventure" part, it's kind of boring in that regard. It's been a lot of looking at documents and hardly going places.
Good memories, this was bundled in with my Apple Mac back in the 90s as my first CD-ROM game.

I think about this often. There's so much you could do with modern tech, it's insane to think about.
