I think I was only 8 or 10 at the time and barely remember a few things like the red room with the photos and getting to the point of the game where the ship starts sinking and water is filling the boat and the anxiety that came with playing this as a kid. I’d be playing it in my dad’s office (downstairs) and it was a pretty big house and when my dad and stepmum went to bed i wasn’t always brave enough to stay downstairs alone playing it. Sometimes i did, but then for scared and had to shut down the computer and i ran through the dining room and hallway up those stairs so fast💀 their grandfather clock in the hallway always creeped me out.

With so many games being made today to look retro, I wouldn't think it'd be hard to do a similar game. The creepy stop-motion animation for the characters, the beautiful voice acting, the low-res pre-rendered ship, the UI, the engine, all of it. I'd happily pay to back a kickstarter for a spiritual successor to T:AOOT. Or maybe have a similar game set on the Lusitania, or another famous ocean liner.
If they could do it in the 90's, they can do it now far easier.
Edit: A GREAT idea for a remake/sequel/spiritual successor would be to add more characters, more lines of dialog, more side quests and things to find outside of the main storyline before the ship (be it the Titanic or whatever ship the gamemakers would choose) were struck. That way there's more time to enjoy the experience instead of feeling like it's a race against time before the sinking is done.

I love reading the comments here. This game is deeply cherished by me, even today. I was struggling with reading and spelling as a junior high student at the time and wanted to play a game and learn something at the same time.
By then, the blockbuster movie was already released which raised my interest even further. So, I became motivated to study more and improved my spelling in no time.
Anyway, I still have the original game to this day and it will stay in my permanent gaming collection since it had a huge impact on my learning. I teach ESL overseas from my homeland and couldn't be any happier!
    Cheers! ❤

Wow! I remember playing this when I was a kid sending messages on the telegram, saying the ship was doomed hoping I could save the Titanic. Looking back, that was a very immersive experince. I didn't understand the limitations of video games at the time, so in my mind there was a chance to save everyone like the real people who tried to reach the Californian and Carpathian for help. They thought there was a chance too even though the ship and the majority of her passengers were doomed. I especially loved how in the game you'd recieve telegrams back.. I tried so hard to but they wouldn't listen..

2:01:59 Olympic's cooling room (Titanic's was inboard and has been rendered by game company Honor and Glory). I have to say though I prefer Olympic's layout and am glad due to error (perhaps due to lack of available research) was used here as Titanic's. Quite frankly though if it wasn't laid out that way on Titanic then it should've been and here it is in game to enjoy (a bit of ship revisionism if you will). It's such a beautiful public space; I especially love the glow of those Bronze table lamps of which were sadly absent from Titanic's.
