Spending money eating out/on take out is so, so important to me. I am in charge of the meal planning for our family and I find it takes up so much mental space! So my rule is that I only meal plan Sundays-Thursdays, and Fridays/Saturdays it's a free for all. If we have leftovers to get through, great. But I refuse to have any kind of meal structure on the weekends. I find that allowing myself to spend money on someone else cooking for me just frees up so much mental capacity that allows me to actually enjoy my weekends :)

I love how honest and realistic your video is about what you still money on. Surely one of the goals of minimalism is to help you improve your quality of life by prioritising things important to you. I still spend money on eating out because I love food and I like spending quality time with my friends or family over food.

Thanks for admitting that you spend money on take-out. Every minimalist starts their no-buy list with take-out coffee. But my husband and I want to support our local businesses, particularly the two coffee shacks in our town. We are also buying our coffee from small roasters rather than the grocery store. So coffee is our big splurge in an otherwise frugal life!

When I started my minimalist journey, I cut all my spending and it was exhausting. I missed buying coffee, clothes, books, even just a treat for my dogs. Now I know that minimalism doesn't have to look any certain way! I still buy a coffee every once in a while and decided to make book buying an EVENT instead of an impulse.

THERAPY 🙌 thank you for saying this out loud. I started budgeting for therapy and it was completely worth it. I find that the pandemic has made therapy much more accessible as well, in terms of video/phone conference calls. I live in a sort of remote location, with zero access to counselling or therapy. Video conferencing has been a literal life saver.

Therapy and Nspresso coffee. I realize nspresso pods are $1 a day but it’s something that makes me so happy and I look forward to it every morning, helps me start on a good note. Not worth saving $30 a month to give up something that makes me look forward to waking up!

I used to be terrible about buying clothes and it’s still something I buy but rarely on a whim, I usually have to think about a clothing purchase for a few days/weeks before getting it. I also feel like i’ve gotten so much better at being able to tell whether or not i’ll actually wear something...like so often i’ll see something cute but recognize that if i got it, it would sit in my closet for months unworn lol

You are just so good at it. There are many channels talking Lo-Bi, etc etc, and I’ve been racking my brain as to why this channel is my #1 by miles and I think - feel? - that it’s that you never seem to use a false voice. You never do the influencer nasal whine. You talk as though we’re in the room there, but also we know you mean it when you say, “you do you”. I also adore your sense of humour. Thanks for your approach. It means the world. 👏🙏🤩

That's odd that someone would comment about your videos always being about "stuff" - that's kind of the point... So "Thank you" for making videos about "stuff".
I do "take out" once a week on the weekend - just brought home my Taco Bell (#1 Supreme w/a Diet Pepsi) haul before I clicked on your video! And while I have teas for when I feel fancy - I have to have Diet Pepsi - I am trying to break the habit but it won't leave. Trying to drink more water too. Have a great week! ❤

So hair care is still a priority for me too, I have thick, curly hair. If I don't take care of it, it turns me into a human lampshade. I still buy books because reading is my favorite form of entertainment (and hour to dollar rate, reading is great bang for your buck). I am on a book-buying ban for now though as I work through my TBR pile/list. I still spend money on take out here and there too. As a mom of 3 though, this is practically unavoidable. I still spend money on skin care, including my RX cream, TactuPump. Sunscreen falls into this too. I also still spend money on entertainment; Spotify, Sims 4 expansion packs here and there, Amazon Prime subscription (for the tv), etc. With a hubby who loves tv and 3 kids, we kind of have to have tv choices...

    • @Christinamychas

Lol human lampshade! 😂😂 I felt this

    • @TheStitchinWitch
      @TheStitchinWitch 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@Christinamychas Right?? If I don't apply moisture to my hair regularly, it just gets fluffier, frizzier, and more voluminous, until the whole thing resembles a trianngle. Not a cute look. LOL. So, good quality hair care has been something I've committed to spending more money on. It's cheaper in the long run than trying to change the hair that naturally grows out of my head into something it's not.

Total minimalism doesn't support the wider community. I totally agree with mindful purchasing, using existing resources, recycling, and budgeting, but the coffee shop, craft shop, manufacturer, hairdresser, etc cannot survive without sales. If we want them there in the future we need to support them.

I think I buy all the things just much less. This year I bought 6 new items if clothing…summer shorts, sport bras, and 2 short sleeved shirts instead of an ‘entire summer wardrobe’ for 3 months. My drawers open easy and my closet hangs nicely. Good job on working out at home!

this list seems awesome to me... having coffee outside from time to time is totally ok! education- I can relate :) I reserved for my fiance and I, an Air-Bnb for 3 days to see if moving to another city will end up the traffic we handle every day , and in general the quailty of life... (living far from work now) so after that we will know if the new city is right for us or not. and btw- those "stuff" someone mentioned to you- yeah .... we are working for living but we spend soooo much on stuff (cloths, resturants, accesories, beauty products , etc)... so yeah, talking about stuff is defenitally ok in this channel :) haha

I still spend money on getting my hair colored and cut- makes me feel more alive and good
Education as well- my therapist once said "if you aren't learning you are not breathing"
$200 a month on combined clothes, shoes, make up if I need and want to
Skincare- great skin is essential for me to feel my best

The money people are spending on Dyson hair products is obscene! I've used them at the gym and it by no means justifies the cost, it did a marginally better job than my moderately priced $230 NZD hairdryer that I brought in 2017. Don't get me wrong, I'm a hair person, but a hair curling product or hairdryer that is $700 - 800 NZD is not helping my financial future.
