This was my best profitable almost-half-an-hour time spent on watching any video... I could even continue to watch if it was 3h... top interesting and useful. Thanks for sharing.
Fantastic Video! I have fished all of the places you mention, Tortugas , Bahamas , The Keys, the Middle Grounds , The Gulf and you are right on the money with everything! The deep water is a lot of work and yes the chicken rigs and huge reels was the norm (Well most of the times we had bandits haah). But nowadays the equipment is lighter but just as strong and the electric reels are a big plus! heeh Again Capt. Mike you are a true Salt! This video should be charged for!
Capt. Mike it's very refreshing to hear someone speak common sense when it comes to goliath grouper. I am amazed at those who want to treat them as sacred cows.
Super informative Bottom fishing video. Never gave it thought of having a vertical speed jig set up ready to go. ( But I don't get to fish like that very often being from PA.) Need to be ready for when I do get to come down. What vertical jigs do you use or recommend. Thanks
You are the best!!! So informative i fish the gulf of Mexico. I know the waters. I didnt need to watch this video but i had too. Keep it up. I would like to fish with you and capt.carlos
awesome information. I fish, & live in California, however my brother wants to try fishing in Florida. I've seen the Yankee captains video's. After watching this video now I definitely want to try it thanks Captain. Mike
I fish the Coast of Sindh and Balochistan in Pakistan. Once with my Vexilar T-Box SP200 fish finding fishing at night in 70 feet deep water, most of the big fish were shown to be between 20 to 30 feet of the surface. Wonder that night we caught fairly good size 28 Barracudas through the night bottom fishing. Using a heavy weight to the bottom did not work so we used light weights and floated them around 30 feet of water where we got the strikes. There was strike on the 150lb float line at night on a handline that we lost as the fish went under the boat. So as you were saying the fish are always at the bottom but here my experience was quite different.
I'm so happy that I found this chanel or better sad you guys, I enjoy, learn so much from your videos please keep'em coming and thank you again ...I wish you all of you Marry Christmas, Happy new year and God bless you...
Wow...absolutely one of the best seminars I've watched in-person or online period. I mean I'm landlocked in Chicago and don't deep water fish but I watched the entire seminar and learned a lot. Really interested in the Rods you use but can't find where they're at. I go to Miami often and fish the upper keys and I'd to get a setup to leave out their with my friend so I can stop using their basic gear lol
Hi Captain Mike, thanks to your videos I’m catching a lot more fish, thank you. What is the exact reference of the reel you are using for 200-500 feet of water?
Super fantastic information in here. Only problem is I can't afford the gear that is needed for this lol. One day when I win the lottery I may be able to afford a trip. Just for context, one electric diawa reel is $1,200 by itself, grab a spare and you're at $2,400. I love these videos and the people at FSP ( I've been a mag subscriber for a long while). Keep up the good, quality videos!
AWESOME tutorial MIKE! One question...how do you compensate for drift when deep dropping? Aren't the fish going to be spooked by the bouncing and shifting bait?
Capt Mike you said that snowys and yellow edge aren't included in grouper aggregate and you can take as many as you want. Is that just on a head boat or a charter? I'm not finding that anywhere Going deep dropping in the GOM and want to stay legal Thanks @flordiasportfishing
Love the channel and your videos, seen almost all of them. You explained lots of things and did so very clearly. Thank you. Do you guys ever go fishing out in California?
Great tip thanks... it look similar to the uni, I will give it a try, I am currently use the uni-know and double-uni knot for 95% of my applications, it works also great...! its almost one knot for everything ...
I am seeking clarification on the size hooks I can use on my slow jig lures. According to your video you talk about the hooks. What I missed was how to select the right size base on the gape size. Here is one of my lure body width. So finding a hook with the gape is my problem. Most sellers don't place the gape information on the packet or in the description. (1) Silver/White 250 grams: body width: 20mm/2cm: need hook gape width: 25mm (2.5cm) (1) J hook (2) Gamakatsu hook (3) Nemesis circle hook I am here in Thailand and they don't have much when it comes to the right gear and trying to get the information by watch lots of videos is not working. The videos are great but they don't detail the little things such as what I asking you. Your assistance to this old veteran will be greatly appreciated.

This is the best seminar. Brother what kind of fishing rods is that?
Hi Captain Mike, thanks to your videos I’m catching a lot more fish, thank you. What is the exact reference of the reel you are using for 200-500 feet of water?
Thank you capt Mike!!great video,very informative 👍

The Daiwa Tanacom 750s are about $600. If you want it bad enough, anything is achievable! - Capt Mike
What jig/lure bag did he have? And, does anyone have a suggestion for one like he has?
great stuff Capt... I'll be on Yankee Capt next month
Nice!
AWESOME tutorial MIKE! One question...how do you compensate for drift when deep dropping? Aren't the fish going to be spooked by the bouncing and shifting bait?
Slowing paying out line the entire time so bait/lead doesn't bounce on bottom with rocking boat. - Capt Mike
very good lecture
Thanks for watching. - Capt Mike
Capt Mike you said that snowys and yellow edge aren't included in grouper aggregate and you can take as many as you want. Is that just on a head boat or a charter? I'm not finding that anywhere Going deep dropping in the GOM and want to stay legal Thanks @flordiasportfishing
great listen
Thank you! - Capt Mike
Hey captain Mike, what rod would you recommend for a Shimano Tyrnos 30 2-speed? I live in Miami, and would like to troll and jig with it. Thanks
Love the channel and your videos, seen almost all of them. You explained lots of things and did so very clearly. Thank you. Do you guys ever go fishing out in California?
No, not yet. Is that where you are?
What line knots combos do u recommend for light tackle for mahi
Where can I find the light weight rod you have for your electric reel?
Would a penn battle 6000 be good for vertical jiggin or bottom fishing at 150-200 ft of depth? Thank you
Yes, will certainly get the job done! - Capt Mike
Fosho! Thanks
Great video. I want to get a reel like yours, what size/model is that one? My new years resolution, pulley ridge 2017. Thanks for the videos.
The power-assist reel is a Daiwa Tanacom 750, the conventional reel is a Daiwa Satiga 50H, single speed lever drag.
Are you against Hubbard's marina when you ranked the 3 deep haul boats? I've used them and never had problems.
Absolutely nothing against Hubbard's, I have fished Hubbard's boats and they catch fish! Great option. - Capt Mike
other more think. were buy the orange box? need more organization my stuff.
Do they provide coolers to take home or do you have to provide them?
You have to bring your own coolers to take your fish home. - Capt Mike
Did you build your rod, or is it something that I might purchase?
We built it, but you can easily order one at Chaos. Tell them you want the Capt Mike 8'0" 20-40 lb. mutton snapper special. - Capt Mike
In the south pacific the best time to deep dropping is at night.
Thats odd, not here, the brighter the better!
I always use the double uni Knot for my connection from line to leader?
Great choice. - Capt Mike
Thank you Capt, super great Vid
Ruben Garcia Try the looking up the RP knot. Stronger and much smaller knot.
Great tip thanks... it look similar to the uni, I will give it a try, I am currently use the uni-know and double-uni knot for 95% of my applications, it works also great...! its almost one knot for everything ...
What size battery is needed for 3 day Pulley Ridge trip?
A fully charged 12v marine deep cycle will last entire trip with Daiwa Tanacom. - Capt Mike
Bring multiple batteries first and foremost at least two that way you always have one on charge
Hello Capt Mike
Can you tell me where to purchase a rod like the one in Your seminar?
I can help you, which particular rod are you referring to, what time in the video? - Capt Mike
Sip mr,
Can you use the New Dawia Black Gold reels?
Gulp_Man102 I would imagine it just depends on the size of the fish...any spinning reel decent size should work
Why don't you Recommend Hubbard's?
Just not as good as the others, generally more people and they fish areas that get a lot more pressure.
What is the blank of the rod you guys you for bottom fishing longs range
Its a Chaos rod, graphite 8'0" blank - 30-50 lb. You'd have to ask Chaos the exact brand if that is what you're looking for. - Capt Mike
Who makes the rod?
zhp500 Chaos fishing rod
Hey Mike where can I buy the diamond jig 10oz?
Different tackle shops have them, especially BassPro. You can also get them online through tackle retailers/catalogs. - Capt Mike
Whats the name of the hook?
VMC In Line tournament circle hook 9/0. - Capt Mike
I have seen this 3 times and every time i catch something new. How can i attend one of this seminars?
We will be posting the 2017 schedule on Facebook.com/floridasportfishing by end of the week.
4 rods? I know you bring a backup for each.
I love how he mentioned Hubbard’s without recommending them, that’s correct, they aren’t for serious fishermen.
@Jconicello Video’s they stuff their boats with anglers. I mean really stuff them. Pay the higher price for capt’s or the gulfstar.
I am seeking clarification on the size hooks I can use on my slow jig lures. According to your video you talk about the hooks. What I missed was how to select the right size base on the gape size.

(2) Gamakatsu hook
(3) Nemesis circle hook
I am here in Thailand and they don't have much when it comes to the right gear and trying to get the information by watch lots of videos is not working. The videos are great but they don't detail the little things such as what I asking you.
Your assistance to this old veteran will be greatly appreciated.
Great info video but very low volume.
This was the first in a series of three we've done so far, the second one which will be posted next week we experienced slight audio problems as well, so we upgraded to an entire new system and the third is PERFECT, as will be all future seminars. - Capt Mike
Are you seriously chopping up an AJ for bait at 59:11.....?
Don't hook sizes vary? I have 7/0 hooks that are even larger than your 9/0
Yes, not all hook manufacturers follow a standardized numbering system, for us the 9/0 VMC inline tournament circle hook is perfect. - Capt Mike
Alright thank you very much for replying, some great tips!
2 👍
Thanks man. Capt Mike
Too bad the Texas boats dont allow braid.
They don't? Why, because they are afraid of cutting fish off? - Capt Mike
@@FloridaSportFishing yeah, also tangles. total pain to old school a broom handle with some west coast yoyos, id rather be vertical.
Was talking about SPJ without realizing it
now have a yellow sand poop cat box; and stull a litter bit smell a, you know!!
