Great video, full of information. And that cemetery, wow! It would keep me quiet for years! The Dukedom of Hamilton is the oldest Dukedom of Scotland, and is still known to this day as the "Premier" Duke! He has the keys of Holyrood Palace, as it's keeper, and carries "The Scottish Crown" when the Monarch comes to Holyrood and opens the Scottish parliament. They also married into Scottish Royalty, and felt that they'd have the right to bear the Scottish crown and rule, if theStewart Royal family were all killed! This was in the early days, before Mary Queen of Scots ruled, although they at one point thought the son and heir should wed Mary. Alas the poor Earl of Arran became mentally ill, and saw out his days at Craignethan Castle, and kept strictly hidden! The only ship that I can think of is the Caledonian MacBrayne's Columba, who now cruises as the Hebridean Princess. ...old Tich.

My father worked at sea all his life, this kind of tale would have him questioning the Royal Navy's sense lol (he worked for the Merchant Navy)

Why would you want to name a ship.................Strange? 😕😛 LOL Great video as always 😀

Goodness knows why, many things had name changes during both wars to assist with required propaganda at the time...

My Hebridean uncles would have run a mile rather than change a ship’s name -it was a widely help superstition .My respects to those who perished .

My father was a merchant seaman, he would have been horrified at a vessel having a name change too....

I found out, about a hundred years later, that the ship my father came on to the U.S. from Ireland had had a name change just before he traveled on it. Luckily for him, he got here safely but the ship sank shortly after. This was in 1923.
I'd never heard that belief before hearing it on this program.

Very sad. By coincidence we were talking at work yesterday about raising sunken ships or leaving them and their crew where they lie.

My father was a seafarer, so through his experience, my opinion is that a sea grave should be protected and left in peace.
