this was easy. I upgraded my radio so I had to use a VIN associated w/ the same radio part number. snagged from an ebay ad description w/ the same radio part number that included the donor vehicle's VIN. The hardest parts were finding the right VIN (look *carefully*) and waiting for the upload to finish. It will give you instructions onscreen the whole way. It will tell you when you finish. Once the upgrade is successful and it says you can take out the USB- take it out!! but only when it says you can. also, keep the motor running in a safe place AND don't go anywhere. If you didn't change radios (it's original) then of course you just use your own VIN. cheers.
Update I called Uconnect and they completely covered the cost for a new radio soooooo I will correct my first comment. They righted their wrong all good now lol
Where's the link to just download the last update? I reset my radio and need to re-install the update from ages ago, but because I did it once with this Uconnect VIN checking website it says it's already done. I need to re-download the file and can't get it.
Just a friendly suggestion. Why not do software downloads for customers and mail them out. Some people may not be computer savvy. May save some aggravation. When you only do something once in a while it could be difficult.

Dealership wouldn't do my upgrade. They referred me to the website. Dude complained he couldn't get his work done because of people wanting a software upgrade.😂 GO figure that!!
They do. They send the USB drives in the mail. But you have to order and pay for them. The only "savvy" you need to have an account (dealer should have set it up) and you would have received an email offer for the ordering. Then you order it and they send it to you with explicit step by step instructions.
I have a 2015 chrysler 300 and the uconnect version i have looks kinda bad compared to the newer vehicles. Will a software update make it look up to date? or will i have to do a hardware update?
This worked: 1. download the archive to laptop 2. open the archive and put the files - uncompressed - on a 2G flash drive formatted as FAT 3. do *not* insert the flash into car yet 4. start the car. Wait until fully booted up 5. now insert the flash drive 6. wait. It take a long-ish time for the system to verify the files
I have a 2014 Grand Cherokee. Dealer quoted me $195 for software update. He said I was running on quite dated software. I asked about this process and of course they tried to discourage me from doing it. I approved the update only for them to call back within minutes to tell me the system is shot and I need a complete new one for $1000. I decided I didn’t need a radio, back up camera, or any of it. I picked up my vehicle and left. The screen now toggles between off and a “wait 2-3 minutes” message. This is absolutely ridiculous. We have two Jeep vehicles. Never again. Just last week a coworker asked me about my Cherokee. He’s considering one. “Don’t do it!”
It's funny because the website says the dealer should update for free, but my local dealer (everyone knows this one is rotten) also wanted to charge the same price. I did it myself and it's time consuming but worth it.
They have completely abandoned Uconnect on the 12" for the RAM 1500's, still running 20.04.19...No security updates, feature updates, performance, etc... Think of that before you look to get into the newer ever more "feature Rich" versions of Uconnect, they cant properly support the products.
Unconnect would connect to my new phone. Updated. Now it connects phone but not media and even the aux will not work and radio keeps shutting off. This experience makes want to shoot my radio like Harvey Keitel in the Bad Lieutenant.

2022 Ram built with "connected services delete" due to the chip shortage. Because of that, you can't receive OTA updates and if you put the VIN in on this website, it just says your vehicle is up to date, even though it isn't and there have been several updates released that I don't have. So much for UC5 and its seamless cell phone integration.

Please remove USB stick to reset." and I've replugged the USB and tried another USB but nothing change. I did this & it worked great but now I have to recalibrate my navigation. It tells me to find a main road with open sky but it's not working. Now I'm curious what else doesn't work in my truck. I will have to run a test of all the buttons & see.

I have a 2015 challenger Scatpack, the update fixes the issue where Engine stuck on “street” mode only. After firmware updated, I am now able to set engine to Sport. Hope this helps.

I've been trying to update my system for 3 days and across multiple calls to uconnect support. I continue to get a "failed to authenticate ISO" error and nobody can give me a valid reason as to why.
I did this to update my moms dodge dart and a lil bit before it was done, both blind spots turned on and the rear defrost got stuck on for a lil bit then we restarted it and the front defrost was on but it turned off, but it still worked!!

My SD-Card worked perfectly for months now. All of a sudden, Uconnect does not see my PlayLists. Only my playlists are being ignored. My music, my folders, all good. i had the same problem, make sure you are using an empty pen drive, make sure the file is unzipped then create a folder with all the files, remove the files from the folder, delete the folder and leave only the files. then it will work.
Long shot but i upgraded to an 8.4 uconnect from the small stock one on my ram, i know the 8.4 i have now needs an update but obviously when i use my vin it tells me no update
Is there an estimate on the overall time needed on the web page? Honestly, I can't believe you're expecting the average person to do all of this when the only risk of somehow messing it up will cost us our functioning Uconnect system if we don't want to pay the extreme dealers charge.
Honestly, I agree. But the way I see it, I might as well try with my un updated system from 2011. If I mess it up, buy a new system cause it'll be about the same as trying to take it to the dealership. 😅

So I have a 2022 Jeep Gran Cherokee WK and when I placed my VIN in the box, the search ran and then stopped but said nothing about any updates or any response of the status of my U-Connect 8.4" 4C Nav system... What does that even mean? Am I supposed to guess that it's up to date? BTW, the FCA Toolbox app I installed on my PC said to connect the USB drive that I had used to "synchronize the system’s navigation data with the USB flash drive". However, after I connected that USB drive to the PC, (per the FCA TB instructions), nothing happened... One more thing; I've noticed that none of the webpages I've been to in the U-connect, U-C drive, Mopar, etc., offer the US as one of the choices to select in updating the maps manually. I'm sure there's something I'm doing wrong so I've got to keep searching.
@@7Monkeyfish Thank You but I posted that a year ago and since, I found out just as you said, it updates automatically. The reason for the USB drive SNAFU has to do with two things; The Min/Max capacity and the format. The new USB 3.0 & 3.1 drives are typically formatted as "exFAT" or "FAT32". As far as the 2022 Jeep GC produced before July 2022, the exFat & FAT32 formats are rejected, (you have to use the old, NTSB formatted drives). The other problem has to do with the capacity of the NTSB USB drives. I can't remember the requirements anymore but They either need to be at least 16GB or no larger than 16GB. I build my own computers but I don't own a cellphone, (has to do with personal security reasons), but I do plan to buy a new tablet with the %g wireless option. I need to figure out if the Jeep has a limited selection of cell providers and if so, who they are. I want the tablet to be able to connect to the 5G in the Jeep so I need to make sure I get a provider that's compatible with whoever Jeep accepts. Anyway, that's a bit of an update as to where I'm at in all this. Thanks again, Rich
The files are on a zip or rar file and need to be extracted. Right-click, extract here. If it created a folder open the folder and move the files in the folders to the ROOT directory. Now try.

The company “Uconnect” requires a vin number to verify your particular update. U should be able to down load it. I haven’t heard of a country or region limitation yet.

Whenever you put your VIN # in their website to search for updates, you’ll want to look for an update file with the phrase “NAV” on it. That lets you know that it’s a navigation update
Make sure you format the FD before doing it, then download and extract the information. It may put them into a file, pull them out, and delete the empty file. The only things on the flash drive should be the things from inside that file. Also, if it’s a super old flash drive, it may not work due to incompatibility

I tried this multiple times with two different computers. An HP and an Apple. Both times, after typing in my VIN and clicking "search for updates" everything froze and no updates popped up. So this is garbage. I will NEVER buy another Chrysler. I've gotten nothing but garbage customer service from EVERY dealership I've been to (in multiple states), lackluster communication (if any), and the last dealership left my car absolutely FILTHY when it was returned to me (in Texas). Now, after being told by a dealer in Florida, California, AND Texas that I need to call Garmin for map updates, I find this video online that says I can do the updates MYSELF. Of course, then it doesn't even work. No wonder so many Americans are turning to foreign car manufacturers.

*HELP Please* The update *BROKE MY BLUETOOTH!!!* And voice recognition buttons. That's right. I updated my 2013 Dodge dart from the 2015 software to the latest 2016 software and now shit is fucked. I then *DOWN GRADED* to the previous 2015 software and no help. Upgraded again. Nope, no help. My Bluetooth shows the 'connected' symbol but stays stuck in the "hands-free system loading. Please Wait...." *MEANWHILE* all my Bluetooth devices are Turned Off. So what's it connected too!?! Nothing. If I try going into the Bluetooth settings, I can't. The setting won't open.
I fixed it by disconnecting the battery. *BUT FUCKIN BROKE MY DIGITAL SPEEDOMETER!* Yes the speedometer screen is BLANK! Disconnecting again seemed to fix the screen too. My got the number of issues I've had with this thing. We need a lemon law in Canada.
Harold Price I have a 2014 T&C with the 430n . I sent for the map update from Garmin. Even my computer savvy kids couldn’t update the maps. I bought a refurbished Garmin thru Amazon with free lifetime maps and use that for navigation.
Because it is easy, even if you’re not computer savvy it’s literally just downloading something and putting it into your vehicles computer. It’s just as easy as updating any other GPS.

This is bullshit! I have a 18 Journey with Uconnect 3 8.4 and was told by Dodge that they weren't going to be pushing updates anymore to that version of Uconnect. I will never buy another vehicle with Uconnect installed. Just to say that the Journey was never really updated in its lifetime. Same vehicle every year. Uconnect 3 is a TERRIBLE system.

So you do use the vin from the old car not the car your installing it in if you’ve gotten a used 8.4

I've been trying to update my system for 3 days and across multiple calls to uconnect support. I continue to get a "failed to authenticate ISO" error and nobody can give me a valid reason as to why.

I did this to update my moms dodge dart and a lil bit before it was done, both blind spots turned on and the rear defrost got stuck on for a lil bit then we restarted it and the front defrost was on but it turned off, but it still worked!!

My SD-Card worked perfectly for months now. All of a sudden, Uconnect does not see my PlayLists. Only my playlists are being ignored. My music, my folders, all good. Play list, spin, spin, spinning (4 items shown), but nothing reads. I tried formatting the SD-Card, putting the music back on. Nothing. I used a new SD-Card, same deal. Suggestions UConnect?

i had the same problem, make sure you are using an empty pen drive, make sure the file is unzipped then create a folder with all the files, remove the files from the folder, delete the folder and leave only the files. then it will work.
I also had the same problem, but mine was because I had formatted the USB drive with NTFS instead of the default FAT32.

Long shot but i upgraded to an 8.4 uconnect from the small stock one on my ram, i know the 8.4 i have now needs an update but obviously when i use my vin it tells me no update
Go on Google and search for a car with the 8.4 uconnect from the factory, take the Vin number and use it for the uconnect website

Honestly, I can't believe you're expecting the average person to do all of this when the only risk of somehow messing it up will cost us our functioning Uconnect system if we don't want to pay the extreme dealers charge.
Honestly, I agree. But the way I see it, I might as well try with my un updated system from 2011. If I mess it up, buy a new system cause it'll be about the same as trying to take it to the dealership. 😅
your website is broken for checking your VIN for updates. You send a letter asking people to update due to a recall and the site doesn't work now. I have tried several computers and several different browsers and you site isn't budging

So I have a 2022 Jeep Gran Cherokee WK and when I placed my VIN in the box, the search ran and then stopped but said nothing about any updates or any response of the status of my U-Connect 8.4" 4C Nav system... What does that even mean? Am I supposed to guess that it's up to date? BTW, the FCA Toolbox app I installed on my PC said to connect the USB drive that I had used to "synchronize the system’s navigation data with the USB flash drive". However, after I connected that USB drive to the PC, (per the FCA TB instructions), nothing happened... One more thing; I've noticed that none of the webpages I've been to in the U-connect, U-C drive, Mopar, etc., offer the US as one of the choices to select in updating the maps manually. I'm sure there's something I'm doing wrong so I've got to keep searching.
Mine does that on my phone and newer Google brand computer but on my older HP laptop it pulls up the update no problem. Don't know if that helps. 🤷🏻
@@7Monkeyfish Thank You but I posted that a year ago and since, I found out just as you said, it updates automatically. The reason for the USB drive SNAFU has to do with two things; The Min/Max capacity and the format.
The new USB 3.0 & 3.1 drives are typically formatted as "exFAT" or "FAT32". As far as the 2022 Jeep GC produced before July 2022, the exFat & FAT32 formats are rejected, (you have to use the old, NTSB formatted drives). The other problem has to do with the capacity of the NTSB USB drives. I can't remember the requirements anymore but They either need to be at least 16GB or no larger than 16GB.
I build my own computers but I don't own a cellphone, (has to do with personal security reasons), but I do plan to buy a new tablet with the %g wireless option. I need to figure out if the Jeep has a limited selection of cell providers and if so, who they are.
I want the tablet to be able to connect to the 5G in the Jeep so I need to make sure I get a provider that's compatible with whoever Jeep accepts. Anyway, that's a bit of an update as to where I'm at in all this.

The company “Uconnect” requires a vin number to verify your particular update. U should be able to down load it. I haven’t heard of a country or region limitation yet.

I have tried to download this update and taken the van backto where I bought it they were supposed to do the download never dead so I've been doing trying to do the download tell me I have to have a certain type of a thumb drive I don't remember the name of the bad but write it down when he said it and I ordered them from Amazon I got them I download them I unzipped and like they said extractor did that and I still can't get it to work Uconnect sucks

Whenever you put your VIN # in their website to search for updates, you’ll want to look for an update file with the phrase “NAV” on it. That lets you know that it’s a navigation update
My vehicle says “cannot read usb device”
Make sure you format the FD before doing it, then download and extract the information. It may put them into a file, pull them out, and delete the empty file. The only things on the flash drive should be the things from inside that file. Also, if it’s a super old flash drive, it may not work due to incompatibility

I tried this multiple times with two different computers. An HP and an Apple. Both times, after typing in my VIN and clicking "search for updates" everything froze and no updates popped up. So this is garbage. I will NEVER buy another Chrysler. I've gotten nothing but garbage customer service from EVERY dealership I've been to (in multiple states), lackluster communication (if any), and the last dealership left my car absolutely FILTHY when it was returned to me (in Texas). Now, after being told by a dealer in Florida, California, AND Texas that I need to call Garmin for map updates, I find this video online that says I can do the updates MYSELF. Of course, then it doesn't even work. No wonder so many Americans are turning to foreign car manufacturers.

That's right. I updated my 2013 Dodge dart from the 2015 software to the latest 2016 software and now shit is fucked. I then *DOWN GRADED* to the previous 2015 software and no help. Upgraded again. Nope, no help.
My Bluetooth shows the 'connected' symbol but stays stuck in the "hands-free system loading. Please Wait...." *MEANWHILE* all my Bluetooth devices are Turned Off. So what's it connected too!?! Nothing.
If I try going into the Bluetooth settings, I can't. The setting won't open.
I fixed it by disconnecting the battery. *BUT FUCKIN BROKE MY DIGITAL SPEEDOMETER!* Yes the speedometer screen is BLANK! Disconnecting again seemed to fix the screen too. My got the number of issues I've had with this thing. We need a lemon law in Canada.

Harold Price I have a 2014 T&C with the 430n . I sent for the map update from Garmin. Even my computer savvy kids couldn’t update the maps. I bought a refurbished Garmin thru Amazon with free lifetime maps and use that for navigation.
Because it is easy, even if you’re not computer savvy it’s literally just downloading something and putting it into your vehicles computer. It’s just as easy as updating any other GPS.

Uconnect is HOT GARBAGE. Forget the 100 steps it takes.... my Jeep won't even read the USB drive with the update.
I hate Chrysler they cheap out on everything. If your gonna make a software and advertise it as award winning then actually make it good. I’ve had more issues with this than using a regular radio.

This is bullshit! I have a 18 Journey with Uconnect 3 8.4 and was told by Dodge that they weren't going to be pushing updates anymore to that version of Uconnect. I will never buy another vehicle with Uconnect installed. Just to say that the Journey was never really updated in its lifetime. Same vehicle every year. Uconnect 3 is a TERRIBLE system.
