Very informative. Have been a home cook my whole life and even worked at a few restaurants when I was younger and learned new things and found items I want to add to my kitchen after watching the video. It is a rare gift you have to be able to make the viewer feel engaged and interested in a video like we are right there. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us:)
Thank you Chef Todd! In the planning stages of a business plan for a wellness retreat lodge and clueless about the kitchen. I'll be watching you! My anxiety has been greatly reduced. Here's to healing bodies and souls with great cooking!
Hi Erika! There's no doubt that you take control of your health when you take control of your cooking. Beside the kitchen skills, be sure you have sharp BUSINESS skills. I've seen too many great chefs go out of business quickly because they don't understand a profit and loss statement. Best of luck in your endeavors.
Do you know a trick for cleaning your box grater? Things get stuck easily on the insides, plus some of the outside grating surfaces are impossible to clean without destroying your sponge. How can you clean those as well? Maybe use a brush? Thank you!
@ChefToddMohr Sorry for the late reply.. and in fact, that comment was from my other account. But, yes, that was a compliment. I love you videos. Thanks.
This is so helpful video, especially that it should guide new homemakers and mothers in the home and just about anyone into lovely cooking, OMG, really so helpful good video.!
hello sir I'm not a cook I'm just a dishwasher but I want to learn or to know all kind of stuff (utensils) inside the kitchen but my problem is I'm here in Italy it's hard to find a book about utensils in Italian language..ohhhh don't know what to do the chef where do I work is just like a full of pressure but his good..I'm bit nervous every time I work with him..
Ulysis, the best and quickest way to learn is by being IN the kitchen, observing as much as you can, learning from those that you admire and want to copy the way they do things. If your chef makes you nervous, he's not the person to learn from. Find someone you respect and want to be like. If they are kind, they will help you.
Do not be nervous. You are there to do a job not to be his/her best friend where you go home with them every night. The next step in your food career might be kitchen assistant where you will help with food but may also involve cleaning.
I was about to give up too i couldn't handle my employer's attitude in the kitchen but i was learning while earning and thankful to her. I'm cooking international foods even if i was just a housemaid
Hello Chef. I love your videos, thank you for taking the time too teach us. would you send me one of your plastic scrapers. I live in Scotland, watch your videos all the time. Hope it's not too far away. kind regards
This is a great video, with great enthusiasm. I don't know if this is his home or a workplace but seems like a string of health code violations if he didn't go re-disinfect everything lol
chef Todd Mar excuse me o so politely a very young aspiring culinarian wanted me to Vette you a quick El question can you use a pizza cutter to scoop flour
I don't agree w/grinding off the mallet, there are other things that it can be used for. There's a particular seafood I used the tenderizer side for & it works great!
Aye, the portions in this country are utterly absurd. The last time I went out to a restaurant, I left with three meals worth of leftovers just from my own plate.
***** - I haven't had a hater comment in a while. It's refreshing to know there are still people out there spending their days in such a productive way. How can a Certified Culinary Educator with thousands of hours of classroom time, empowering thousands of people all over the world each day be dumb? Please explain to me what is dumb about me and my videos.
Hello Chef Todd, I hope life is bringing you happiness in 2023. Your videos are standing the test of time!

I don't agree w/grinding off the mallet, there are other things that it can be used for. There's a particular seafood I used the tenderizer side for & it works great!
I just spent two hours grinding it off with an electric grinder but now that you mention it, you're right. I can't believe I wasted my time.

the underhand grip got me a few laughs lol
I’m currently in culinary school my chef gets on me a lot for not knowing what all the utensils and equipment are called 😭
He's correct to do so. If you don't know what your tools are called, you can't be a very good craftsman.
You forgot to mention a hair net or hair cut for commercial kitchens. LOL Nice information though.
Information good in this Course (not Coarse) haha!
Mortar and pestle
Paeng Ferrer Seriously. My mortar and pestle gets used at least 4 times a week. Paid for itself the day I got it.
The food processor makes up for the mortar and pestle
Why was this vid titled cooking coarse instead of cooking course?
cant hear a thing
Anyone else watching this as part of online school?
Pity the bowl scraper is no longer available. I'm finding your vids to be informative and entertaining.
+Tsc Tempest Thank you for your kind comment. I'm glad you are enjoying my videos

BE YOUR OWN GUY IN THE BACK
LOL...who is the newbie who has to put all those tools away?

The chef looks rather rough?
This is for restaurant level not home kitchen
If you were taking his courses you'd know that this is indeed for the home kitchen. I have had (and use often) all but 3 of the items in this video.
ppp
Smart guy, dumb hat.
It's called a toque, and it's a traditional part of a chef's wardrobe.
