Can I just point out, P on the transmission stick is for PARK (not Park Brake). Likewis the black P in the centre of your steering column display is also the "gear position" PARK (not park brake). Just like D is for Drive, R is for Reverse, and N is for Neutral. The Park position is analogous to an auto transmission Park position. The "Park Brake" is something different, but related. The Park Brake indicator is a red coloured P in a circle above the odometer reading on the steering column display. The Park Brake in this car is electronically operated, and is automatically engaged when you place the car into PARK. This causes people to think PARK is Park Brake, but it's not. The Park Brake automatically disengages when you take the car out of PARK and put into DRIVE or REVERSE. You can also manually control the park brake using the lever switch between the front seats marked with a (P). This is important to know, for example, if you need to place the car into Neutral for towing, you may need to release or apply the Park Brake. It's important to understand the difference, and the concept is really no different to a standard automatic car with a Park position and a hand brake lever, except in this case the park brake (hand brake) is electronic and automatic, and shouldn't be confused with the Park "transmission" selection.

Thanks for pointing out. It is important to know that when you put the vehicle into Park the Park Break is engaged, which is different to my previous car. Also when you put the car into drive the park brake is disengaged, also different. I thought I made that clear in the video but if not, thank you for making that clear.

From memory of when I took one on a test drive you didn't need to push the park brake button at all the car did it for you the minute you put it into P-ark. Good reference video though for new owners.

Nice work mate the Atto is reasonably intuitive in its operation you can get going and drive pretty quickly as it’s pretty similar to modern automatic ICE with regard basic controls. The rest requires a bit of practical experimentation thankfully guys like yourself have taken the time to give us this detail quickly. I’m no tech head but find my Atto pretty user friendly, I’m using app and NFC card with ease daily it’s pretty easy to learn the car’s operating systems without much effort 😁👍

I have carefully measured achievable range of my Atto3 long range (60KWhr).
Like most SUVs the Atto is aerodynamically compromised. Drag rises very quickly above 100kmh. Above 110kmh range is limited to around 300km.
It's best range speed is 85kmh. At that speed with two passengers, and 20kg of luggage, over level ground at 600masl and 20C, it can cover nearly 500km. In reality it could be hard to find conditions that could allow this range.
Under the same circumstances, at a more realistic speed of 95kmh it will cover 430km.
If the terrain is undulating range is reduced simply because the vehicle only regenerates about 60% of the power downhill that it used to go uphill.
Overall for the type of vehicle it is, it is fairly efficient. Good range (350-380km with reserve) is easily achieved by driving between 85kmh and 95kmh.
I recommend you plan your trips to have at least 10% in reserve at destination

Just got my Atto3 in Ireland which is a taxi....i find not using Air Con dramatically increases range...i know not using it in some countries would be a no no but here i find cracking open the sunroof is enough to create a nice breeze through the car,
One problem i'm having is with the 1gb of free data per month...it's used up in a couple of days...even when i'm actually not using it...BYD believe it to be a cloud service issue but still hasn't been resolved.

Hello Ian Thanks for your videos. Very informative. My Atto 3 2023 model does not give me an audible alert for the rear cross traffic alert when there is traffic crossing behind me. Your video shows an audible alert when this is happening. I only get a flashing light in my mirror. I have set all the parameters, in the ADAS to activate it.
    Any ideas.

    Hi,
I want my interior lights to automatically be on when I unlock the car. How can I do that? In my dolphin seems to be a hidden feature although the owners manual mentions it in a very cryptic manner.
Thanks for your help with the channel.

A one button press to turn seat heaters on in our car. Not an ev yet. I don't know why this need to control functions through multiple presses on a touch screen. So awkward and a bit time consuming. I think modern aircraft are the same. Fiddle with the screen instead of a button push or twist.

Is there the ability to start the car without the headlights coming on. My neighbour across the road hasn’t complained yet but my headlights shine straight into his bedroom and I leave for work at 5am.

I call “that spaceship noise” my ice cream track music. This is how my husband knows I’m in the driveway. But as annoying as it is I wish it was even louder otherwise people can’t here you. A colleague with Geely ev almost ran over someone that didn’t here him and just got off the sidewalk.

The designers of the car have even thought about the safety of people around the car. Hence, i guess they have put in heart and soul to the smallest details making it a great car to drive.
Even the owner’s manual is written in very good and clear English.
I love the sweet lady voice on board that responds to my verbal requests, like
“Ok, the radio volume is decreased by ..”
      “Ok, got it, ….”
      “I am still here..”
      “I am listening”
This is like a good friend helping me.❤

Hi Ian thanks for great video,
Hey can you please also advice how can I make best of range after full charge? Does driving in cruise in freeway will consume more energy than 60 zone if I travel same distance.if you can make video on how to be efficient with driving that would be great thankyou again.
    Thankyou,

Yes on the highway at 110kms plan on 310ks around town plan on 380ks. The reason for the difference is air pressure. If you double your speed the air resistence increases by 4.

    • @hanmeng4833
      @hanmeng4833 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

yes, air resistance is roughly proportional to the square of speed.
For me, just be gentle on my right foot on the power pedal. On the info cluster screen, i can see the instantaneous power the car is using. From positive as high as 30 kW to 1 kW to even negative power (meaning regeneration).
This helps me to control the right foot pressure.
The Instantaneous power would translate to kWh consumption over a time.
(Cautious, dont keep our eyes off the road ahead while being aware of the power reading)
Also regulate my speed with the traffic flow.

On the small dash, when I press the bottom LHS button on the RHS steering wheel button cluster, I get tyre pressures dislayed. Successive pressing of the button does nothing. To recover the ACC display, I have to turn it off and back on again.
But I have seen in a video (not yours) that you can display energy efficiency there, and maybe other things? I can't find out how to do that. Manual did not help.
    Any clues?

    • @BYD_Telsa

On the steering->rhs switches->bottom left will turn on last 50k efficency. To turn it off toggle the ACC switch.

Once you've pressed the button, scroll up and down using the RHS scroller (same one as used for volume). Appears that once you press the bottom LHS button (called the Instrument/Back button) the scroller is activated as an 'options' scroller, after a short time of inactivity (haven't measured, maybe 5-10 secs) the scroller reverts back to volume control.
