    Thanks for sharing the deep dive! I hadn't heard about this option yet; it's great that the community has given us so many ways to keep the old systems alive.

    Hey mate thanks for the shout out, great video! My boards should be arriving soon and I'm hopeful it'll work better in C128 mode than the other SID replacements I've tried.

      So far the pico is working really well, I have it configured at $4d20 and SMB seems to work OK, gonna get another vid together (filmed half), so far, really liking the picp

      @insanity213 not yet, but I did try the actual sids used in the demo which play back well, sound in 128 mode works fine once the correct sid model is selected

    The way SID-muzak needs to be (re-)composed to fit on that basically karaoke-band-machine it is in its core is so friggin amazing, still since first contact. How broad those sounds expand, worblin through your very soul and munch it away happily, lol. Fuck, i love it - thx for sharing!

    A shame you can not test it in another Bread Bin. It does sound good though. If you could only pick 1 between Armsid and this Sidkick pico which one ?

    • @CaptainCommodore
      @CaptainCommodore  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I have quite a few machines and replacement sids, I love the armsid and arm2sid but this is sounding just as good, will try in my c128 and another breadbin when I get time. Before it would have been armsid.... 100% now I'm much more torn , prob the pic tbh

      @thomassmith4999 to be honest I don't really have any problems with Chinese chip except for 2 occasions, 1st Royal Fail decided to post my parcel elsewhere then told me to claim from the 12 sellers ...... I lost right out, and 2nd GAL chips, these were pulls as they are not in production anymore, high number of failures

      @@CaptainCommodore I prefer buying from China myself, got well over 3000 orders from Aliexpress. got fake chips like twice. Nothing to be concerned about. The whole shady side of electronics sanctions doesn't enthuse me much so I like the we don't care about such silly things China attitude.

    Why the hell didn't they just put the RP2040 on the board instead of mounting a whole Pico on top?

    Does the analog input work?

    • @CaptainCommodore
      @CaptainCommodore  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I havnt tested that, bit I believe it does, if anything it should work better than the original REAL sid jitter wise

      I have an old machine that I finally revived, here in Japan, but it had a SID chip with the 3rd voice toasted outputting static the whole time. I think that I got a swinSID like year and a half ago but when I went to run GEOS with joystick set to default, something was wierd. I want to get one.@@CaptainCommodore (It always seems so weird when you use a modern SBC to replace an old IC, but as the least expensive way and least path of resistance, it is the only way to accommodate the second law of thermodynamics for the least amount of money. Or something like that...I love it because, pure retro guys as well as emulation guys have to think about it again from a purely astrophysics point of view. LOL!

    • @walterg74
      @walterg74 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@CobraTheSpacePirate There was nothing "weird"... The swinsid chip does not support mouse/paddles.

      Even with Joystick selected in GEOS, mouse movement was erratic. As if it was still trying to read from the analog inputs. That is why I would like to try the SIDKICK. To see if the behavior changes or is the same.
