I got to hang out with Colby for an evening recently.
He’s more genuine than his schtick would lead us to believe. As in, his schtick isnt as fake as we think.
He’s a good dude. But he’s also a genuinely funny, serious, and patriotic guy too.

This is by far the best interview of colby i've seen ever mike. You almost got him to break the character & also asked some of fan favourite questions.
Now that was a great interview. Colby is one of the best interviews right now. And Bisping is a phenomenal interviewer. He gets fighting, he's funny, and he's not afraid to ask about any subject matter but he does so in a nice way.

Straight off the rip, Bisping pays Colby respect, so Colby returns it. It's interesting seeing how these dynamics change and evolve over time. I remember when Bisping was still an active fighter and on the ESPN desk this conversation went very differently.

Honestly can’t get enough of Colby he’s such an entertaining guy and let’s be real he’s gonna be the champ very soon! One thing I really respect about Colby is he doesn’t weaponise the weights he could easily make 155 and walk in at 175-180 on the night but he doesn’t! That’s a rare type of fighter imo
You big crowds from MAGA Universe should just enjoy Colby's WWE BS. The probability of MAGA man being champ at 170 is less than 10%. To be exact, it's about 7%.
As you yourself correctly noted: he LIKELY would have been champ, if he became as toned as Usman and Leon, & fought at 155. The dude is a natural 185lb 5'11". He hardly cuts weight; he probably just take a big dumb, stop drinking and eating for a day or so & he's 170.
Most of the Top 5 guys at 155 --- Benny, Gaethje, Charles, Islam et al ---- were AT LEAST as big and as tall as he is. Hell, Islam and Charles, both slightly taller than Colby, are struggling to make weight at 155.
Anyway, only 2 out of 28 guys who are 35 years or old --- when they fight for the belt --- ever won, from WW down to Flyweight, the most competitive divisions, with the deepest pools.
The fact of the matter is, Usman, Leon, Shavkat, Khamzat... they're all much bigger, taller, faster, and stronger than Colby. His problems is NEVER a lack of skills, grit, durability, heart, etc. It's just he's a bit too small, a bit too short, a bit too slow... and not having that one-punch, one-kick KO power.
Taking Jorge or RDA down is one thing; taking Usman, Leon, Shavkat, Khamzat down is quite another. Keeping them down there is even harder.
On the feet, all those bigger, taller, faster, and more powerful guys will just use MAGA man as mostly a punching and a kicking bag. The BS about MAGA man using his magical cardio and magical pressure to rag doll Leon --- or Usman or Shavkat or Khamzat --- is just that: BS.
So, I guess you guys might as well engage in such BS and enjoy it, since that's all it is...

Colby has become one of my favourite fighters and deserves a shot at the strap. I was really happy Leon won that rematch but how he acted afterwards has completely changed my opinion of him.
Usman looked completely different since he copped that headkick and I truly believe that Colby wins if the fight happens.
Masvidal does not deserve a title shot, was always over rated and only got his 15 minutes due to a freak knee against a guy that shouldn’t have even been in the UFC in the first place
