Dexnav and Horde Shiny Hunting are my favorites. 22:40 is this applicable for Gold, Silver, and Crystal; or only Gold and Silver? 😮 because in my most recent replay of Pokémon Crystal, I hatched a shiny female Magby from the odd egg
Ok, there's...several issues. I don't want to be mean, but this is kinda my whole THING. As such, I will be putting both corrections, and some additional info, in this comment! Please do not take ANY of this personally. Shiny hunting is a large topic, and I myself am NOT immune to accidentally spreading misinformation! If I do anything wrong here, please feel free to let me know! Chain fishing grants two extra shiny rolls per reel up to a maximum of forty rolls at 20+ successful reels, so long as you do nothing but pull in fish (don't MOVE, don't TURN, don't MISS A CAST, etc.). This grants shiny odds of roughly one in a hundred (not EXACTLY how the math works out, but close enough; it's 41 rolls at a 1 in 4096 per roll). The Masuda Method works with ANY two mons of different regions. Two Japanese mons in an English game will NOT give Masuda odds, but a Japanese mon and a German mon in an English game WILL, as they will in any game. Your video makes it sound like it requires one mon from your game; this is false. There's a typo in the "changed odds" section; it says 1/8196 and changes to 1/4092. Dexnav odds being "pretty good" is...understandable. This one I don't blame you for; the odds calculation is byzantine, conditional, confusing, and probably merits a more in-depth explanation of its own--not a good thing for this format. BDSP has better shiny rates ON PAPER than DPPt for Poke Radar; in practice, getting to higher-chain values is noticeably harder due to the chance of a chain break per properly-managed encounter (again, it's complicated) going up from 2% per encounter, to 7% per encounter--which doesn't sound like much until you actually try it, and realize that the increase of 250% breakage chance is RUINOUS. (Which is a shame, given how much more ACCESSIBLE it is otherwise!) BW didn't JUST start with Zekrom/Reshiram; Victini was theoretically available earlier in the game, if you have the event. It was ALSO shiny locked. The way the shiny charm works is potentially interesting for various methods; it's a flat +2 to rolls in all cases it applies to EXCEPT Dynamax Adventures (which has its own shiny determination, set to exactly 1 in 300 without charm or exactly 1 in 100 with it), which means it's technically less effective the more powerful a method is. It's still worth getting regardless, as ANY little bit helps, though! Your explanation of ultra wormholes is, though likely unintentionally, moderately deceptive. The way you word it makes it sound like you have an increased chance of getting shiny legendaries from wormholes. This is incorrect. Non-legendary Pokemon have extremely high boosted shiny rates from wormholes (as high as 36 percent if you prepare properly by catching all possible legendaries from that color of wormhole and enter the maximum rarity wormhole at sufficient distance), and shininess is determined from the moment you enter that wormhole. Legendaries, however, are still base odds (1 in 4096 without shiny charm, or roughly 1 in 1365 with it) via wormholes, and can be soft reset for within the wormhole due to shininess for them NOT being set upon wormhole entry the way it is for normal Pokemon. Dynamax Adventures being the "best" method for legendaries is statistically questionable. Assuming you can do at least ten resets in Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon (for example) for a given legendary in the time it takes you to do one Dynamax Adventure (likely around ten to fifteen minutes--VERY manageable), you can roughly match the shiny rate for legendaries in Dynamax Adventures; however, speaking from experience, even with old-model 3ds consoles USUM takes less than a minute per soft reset, meaning you are likely to find a shiny kegendary faster in USUM than you are in Dynamax Adventures assuming both have shiny charm. This, however, dismisses the possibility for non-legendary shinies, which is worth noting. The explanation of Herba Mystica has the same issue as some other explanations; each level grants +1 shiny roll, which stacks ADDITIVELY with the Shiny Charm. "Doubles/Triples/Quadruples", while true without charm, is untrue with it; it becomes a doubling only with level 3 if you have Shiny Charm, having a total of SIX shiny rolls. Not a criticism, just fun: Munchlax from Ogre Oustin' is the only level 1 mon you can get with a wild mark. Through careful manipulation of happiness in Legends: Arceus, you can evolve it, and then give it max soup in Sword/Shield, to get a shiny level 1 marked gigantamax factor Snorlax. This is the only mon of this type, to my knowledge? (It's especially noteworthy, as you cannot breed Snorlax eggs in Scarlet/Violet due to the removal of incense; you will only get Munchlax. Thus, this is the ONLY way to get a Scarlet/Violet origin mark Snorlax at level 1!) Whether the shiny charm is a glitch or not in BDSP is debatable; worth noting is that it makes the statement of "shiny odds double/shiny threshold is halved" from Grand Underground is (functionally; again, rolls are fun math-wise!) accurate. When it comes to "randomly generated shiny colors", I APPRECIATE the statement of "I cannot confirm this"; I have seen this thrown around as fact so much. I've tossed out a LOT of "this is wrong, that is wrong", but you did a good thing here. Worth noting for "shiny distributions", several gen 2 distribution eggs had increased shiny rates. Likely the most famous one is the Japanese Odd Egg, which was actually not available by default in that version! (Which I assume is why the odds were reduced for the international release :\ ) Not really a criticism--a few of these aren't, actually, at this point--just a funny little note. As someone who likes having its OT on every shiny, the Zeraora event makes me sad. Not a criticism, not even a fun fact. Just me being sad. The "depending on the gender ratio" bit in gen 2 is fascinating; I actually never went around to learning what the odds are specifically, because personally I just use the Red Gyarados sent back to gen 1 to abuse a glitch to get shiny Ditto to guarantee the 1 in 64 shiny odds. (Yes, this works. Google it! It's worth doing!) Gen 2 shinies CAN BE FEMALE. You are referring to mons like the starters, which have gender ratios that prevent shinies from being female due to gender being tied to the Attack IV (IIRC). Gen 3 had no regular shiny hunt methods; IIRC there was at LEAST one event (I THINK a Pichu egg event?) with increased shiny odds from the egg? The Pomeg glitch isn't what you need to catch the Battle Tower mons; in fact, Pomeg berries cannot be used for the glitch in RS due to only being Pokeblock ingredients in that game! The glitch you're thinking of there is the Roaming Legendary glitch, where KOing Lati@s if it was encountered RIGHT AFTER your Battle Tower battle will cause the second slot of that trainer's party to be sent out. Because the Battle Tower (excepting some eReader trainers I think?) uses your TID/SID, catching these mons will not result in a Bad Egg, meaning if you sacrifice your roamer you can get your Battle Tower shiny and keep it too. (First-slot shinies are unsalvageable to my knowledge though--I wouldn't be surprised if you could use ACE for something but that is beyond me). The Pomeg glitch DOES let you potentially put pokeballs into the Battle Pyramid bag, though! The wild mons in the Battle Pyramid ARE catchable, too, if you just have the balls! You have to catch enough to fill your party first, but after that you can send mons to your PC if you catch them. "Fastest starter reset" seems interesting to me; how does it compare to HGSS showing three mons per reset? Not a criticism, more a question. Gen 2 shinies will not have their HP at 8 or 10; it will be 0 or 8. This is because HP is determined by other stats; as Defense, Speed, and Special are all even, they do not add to the HP stat, so only Attack can. If Attack is odd, it adds 8 to HP; so if you roll a shiny with an even Attack it has a DV in HP of 0, while if you roll a shiny with odd Attack is has a HP DV of 8. Wally can ALSO have a shiny in his catching tutorial. Happened to me in an Emerald randomizer; in that case, it was a Krabby. But you can absolutely find video of the Ralts MORE than once. Overall, I appreciate videos like this, but when there's info to be shared, I will notice a few imperfections here and there. PLEASE DO NOT BE DISCOURAGED BY THIS; this is a truly massive topic, and given you seemed to be reading off of something you weren't 100% familiar with I'm guessing this iceberg wasn't collected by you (if not, you did a decent enough job with research all things considered!), but there's doubtless much more that hasn't even been covered here. Fanmade shiny patches for gen 1, new shiny locks introduced to static spawns in SV in the first patch, the reason why Manaphy is even huntable at all--there's so much still uncovered here! Please feel free to keep delving into the topic, I see potential here!
@@CybernetCatgirl thank you so much for pointing out these inconsistencies that I failed to find!!! I love the passion that the shiny hunting community has and I should have researched each topic much more thoroughly than I did! I hope however that you did enjoy the video and hopefully learned some new facts!
I'd like to add a few things to this list (also everything they said about them pointing these out also apply to these. I don't mean anything negative by it) Maxed chain fishing odds are actually 1/100, not 1/200. These odds change to 1/96 if you have the shiny charm though. The event that cyberworldcatgirl4188 was referring to is probably the WISHMKR Jirachi you mentioned. SOS shiny odds increases stops after a chain of 31. Also, in SM, the odds were 1/683 with the shiny charm, and your chain could reset after hitting 255. The chain resetting was not a thing in USUM though. Scarlet and Violet aren't the first pokemon games where you can't shiny hunt any legends. That would be X and Y. However, so far, Gen 9 is the only generation where you can't shiny hunt any legends. The note you made about the Genies in gen 5 needing to be shiny on their first encounter applies to every roamer that can be shiny. Lucky Power halving shiny odds would mean the odds are 1/4096, not 1/2048, as these games were still 1/8192.
My longest hunt was Rayquaza on HG/SS hunted it for a over a year, eventually said screw this I'm gonna go for it on OG Sapphire and got it in 2 days, 2nd longest hunt is my shiny feebas/milotic took me about 9months of fishing encounters on OG Sapphire. 22:39 Gen 2 shinies CAN be female In fact most gen 2 shinies I have are female It is however dependent on the species of pokemon and their capture rate I think The starters for example all can't be female and shiny they must be male

FUN SHINY FACTS FOR SWORD AND SHIELD: 1) Since release, people thought the square sparkle was the rare animation, while the star sparkle was regular, but that was actually incorrect! Recently someone discovered that the data mine info was WRONG, its actually the opposite, square is common while stars are rare! 2) speaking of the data mines people got wrong, since release, people assumed getting passed 500 defeats of a certain pokemon boosts odds while also making the aura pokemon more common, which in reality, its actually the aura pokemon themselves you should be focusing! For example, you haven't KO'd a single pikachu, so your "battles" are at 0, what you need to do is fight ONLY aura pikachus, 200 KO's is the sweet spot which boosts your odds, but the max is 500 for boosted odds. Im currently KOing aura Nickit, and im at 200 defeats! Good luck trainers, keep hunting!
@@mobious01 I have to agree. As the person who did the segment for 1) (36:35) and also did an entire video about it, I'd also like to say it is half wrong as well. Squares being more common and the exact reason and numbers as to why was known since the release of Sword and Shield, people just never cared to actually check. I'm assuming the "someone recently discovered it was wrong" is in reference to my video, as my video ended up being fairly popular, and I'd like to go on record and state that everything I said was a direct summary of everything data miners had said. Saying data miners are wrong is a bit of a stretch, respect the work they put in! Side note, square sparkles are still the rarer sparkle for things like Eggs, Regis, Curry, and the likes.

For example; my longest Dexnav Shiny Hunt was Shiny Petilil (which I found after 285 encounters) and Shiny Misdreavus on 1ST ENCOUNTER and I was like "what...." and it's the only that has happened to me.
Edit: I hated Shiny Hunting with the Poke Radar which was also present in Pokémon XY, but my chains would never go over 20 because my chain always broke.
First encounter shiny pokemon are goated
@@LewaPlays I agree! I wasn't expecting it to Shine that FAST lol
Yo no way I love lewa plays
Lets gooo
Modern gengar in scarlett and violet is great. It is NORMAL gengar that is far too desaturated!!! They need to fix normal gengar! I would also add the mousehold line and slowpoke for most hated shinies too
those shinys are definitely some of the worst new shinys in the games
I've actually picked up shiny hunting since buying a copy of Omega Ruby for the 3Ds because up until now I didn't own a switch ( I plan on shiny hunting in Legends Arceus soon )
I did do horde hunting and so far have two ive gotten from the method, those being a shiny Numel and a shiny Roselia
Fun fact: You can shiny hunt the special dex nav tutorial Poochyena its not shiny locked! I shiny hunted it and named it after a dog of mine that passed away in May
I soft reseted for it by saving right before the cutscene with your rival triggers so I could just move a tiny bit to trigger the cutscene and get a go at the shiny Poochyena
ORAS did shiny lock the Poochyena you encounter after selecting a starter which is honestly good, it would avoid the pain of not being able to obtain that shiny
Yo nice!! I love learning all the new facts people have been leaving! Good luck shiny hunting!
@@LewaPlays No problem 👍 I'm honestly wondering if in Legends Z-A we'll get eternal Flowet because if we do we might have the potential to finally obtain it and it's shiny because it has had a shiny variant since X and Y in the code itself
There are several mistakes in this like the ditto glitch. For that one you only need it to use the move twice.
If u don’t have two consoles to trade between gen 1 and 2 u can also get a shiny ditto by hatching a shiny cleffa through the odd egg then level the cleffa up to level 34 have it learn metronome and evolve into clefairy then encounter a ditto, the ditto will then transform into your shiny clefairy and take its moveset meaning it will have metronome then u have to get lucky and it will land on transform when using metronome and since at the start of the battle with the ditto it already used transform once when it uses it the second time it will copy ur clefairys dvs and turn into a shiny mid battle when u then catch the ditto it will be a legit shiny ditto giving u the 1/64 egg odds only possible in crystal tho and it takes time to with all the luck involved but it was definitely worth it for me
Only Unown I and Unown V are shiny in Gen 2..
Which is interesting because shininess Is determined by IVs......
Facts! Isnt that so interesting
Shiny Squirtle is in Smash as the green alt
No explanation on square vs star shiny? Missed opportunity, the mechanic is easily tier 5 unknown knowledge.
i did!
Oh aha! It was at the end and has its own video. Good shit, i stopped to commet too soon @LewaPlays
its all good!
Let’s gooo, DOYOUKNOWHOWLONGIVEBEENWAITINFORDIS?
Note: I'm mad at myself for forgetting to add:
Shiny rayquaza and Unite
Shiny pokemon that don't actually have shinies!
OH, I remember now, I have got shiny Zubat!!!
Being old enough to have found my first shiny Pokemon before there were any methods to improve your odds I don’t like the new methods.
Old school ways are the best!
Isn't X and Y the First games you can't shiny hunt any legendary Pokemon..?
Black and white were the first to shiny lock their box art legendaries
22:40 is this applicable for Gold, Silver, and Crystal; or only Gold and Silver? 😮 because in my most recent replay of Pokémon Crystal, I hatched a shiny female Magby from the odd egg
Im pretty sure it is applicable to crystal!
(Which is a shame, given how much more ACCESSIBLE it is otherwise!)
BW didn't JUST start with Zekrom/Reshiram; Victini was theoretically available earlier in the game, if you have the event.
Thus, this is the ONLY way to get a Scarlet/Violet origin mark Snorlax at level 1!)
Whether the shiny charm is a glitch or not in BDSP is debatable; worth noting is that it makes the statement of "shiny odds double/shiny threshold is halved" from Grand Underground is (functionally; again, rolls are fun math-wise!) accurate.
Google it! It's worth doing!)
Gen 2 shinies CAN BE FEMALE.
I don't mean anything negative by it)
Maxed chain fishing odds are actually 1/100, not 1/200.

Shiny pokemon in gen 2 can be female, how you gonna post an iceberg with false information on it
To correct your fact; pokemon with a gender ratio of 12.5 percent female (such as the starters) cannot be female and shiny

That’s on me, but google just said it was female shinies in general 💀 er well the TH-camr that said it

22:39 Gen 2 shinies CAN be female
In fact most gen 2 shinies I have are female
It is however dependent on the species of pokemon and their capture rate I think
The starters for example all can't be female and shiny they must be male
Here’s an iceberg that goes waaaaaaay deep that no one cares about. In route 44 I caught a shiny Poliwhirl in silver version that was before red gyarados.
FUN SHINY FACTS FOR SWORD AND SHIELD:
1) Since release, people thought the square sparkle was the rare animation, while the star sparkle was regular, but that was actually incorrect!
Another set of great facts! Seems like there were a lot of glitches with shiny hunting on the switch!!
1) is half wrong
